If you are buying your Ranger school packing list, this should be your first stop…read more The owner, Caesar, has copies of the packing list and personally walked me through the entire list, item by item. He is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He is friends with RIs and knows all the ins and outs of the packing list. They have almost everything on the packing list, minus ACUs. The store is small, but is laid out according to the Ranger school packing list making it easy to navigate. Customer service is this store's middle name. Don't run all over town looking for packing list items when you can come here and be done in one afternoon.

He's made me a custom harness because my old one was uncomfortable, a custom belt because I didn't like how my old one rubbed, custom straps, webbing, pouches. You name it he can do it. It's impressive how creative he and his staff is. You present the problem they are going to solve it and they won't stop trying until you are satisfied. On top of that, he is priced extremely fair and you can tell him and his staff genuinely want to just help you succeed however they can. There are many surplus stores in Columbus. And they are all great. The thing that separates Gibson's is that it is like a family there. They know your name they know your situation and they are invested in your career. To the point where Gibson shaved his head when one of his customers graduated from ranger school.

I have been to this thrift mall - and all the others in Columbus. My impression is, these thrift…read moremalls are loaded with a lot of stuff people don't want to sell. I suspect the prices are so high to cover the rent and realize a profit. Books are so WAY overpriced I can't believe it. For a buck I can load up on brand new books at Dollar Tree - often very good titles and authors. And Goodwill and Valley rescue Mission have great selections. If you're into history, a lot of books from the hoi polloi at Fort Benning end up in these places. Many excellent titles. Granted, for a buck old VHS tapes can be a steal and you can swoop on some excellent titles. Most of the tapes I get still play with no problem. But I never buy DVDs because they usually don't let you open and check for scratches or other defects. Yard sales are a much better option for those predisposed to going 'junking'...
