I got my notice for jury duty and began calling in daily to see if my group number was needed. Day…read morethree I was to report. I parked in the stadium lot P1 like the notice says. There's plenty of signs telling jurors where to park. I can't believe how many people parked in the wrong place and had to move their car. The summons has the lot address, everyone has a phone. Google it if you're not sure. I was able to check in outside online while waiting for the doors to open. A Sheriff instructed everyone to remove anything metal from their body before going through the metal detector. So many people didn't and this held up the line a bit. These are probably the same people that parked in the wrong lot. Once in the Juror room on the 3rd floor I took a Juror badge and took a seat. They had goodie bags, bottle water, coffee, and pastries since it was Jurors Appreciation Week. Before the orientation videos several judges look time from their courtroom to come to the jury assembly room to show their appreciation. Senator Umberg was also there. It was nice to see all these people. It was a slow day. Not many courtrooms needed jurors. My name wasn't called. Many of us were let go earlier than expected.

Followed directions and parked in P1 for that sweet free parking with validation, small wins where we can get them. You get $15 a day if selected for jury. Checked in around 7:45am, armed with snacks and false optimism. Waited until noon only to be told I wasn't selected. Honestly? Best plot twist of the day. Walked out with my official "you did your civic duty" receipt and a 12-month pass to freedom. The courthouse café was okay. Grabbed a meat-free breakfast burrito that tasted like responsibility, edible but forgettable. Still, 4 stars for efficiency, free parking and the joy of not being picked!

I'm so glad this Clerk Recorder Department is close to where I live. I filled out a form online first and when I showed up I checked in via a kiosk and was in and out of the place in 5 min! There is plenty of free parking as well. My experience with this courthouse has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. The justice…read moresystem here feels completely disorganized, and it seems that many employees are not properly informed about the procedures or the paperwork they are responsible for assisting people with. I was repeatedly sent back and forth between the Self-Help Center and the seventh floor. I would go to one department, be told to go somewhere else, receive little or no useful information, and then be sent back to where I started. On top of that, I was given conflicting information about the paperwork I needed to file and how it needed to be served. To make matters worse, some employees give you nasty looks and treat you as if you are stupid for asking questions or being confused. How are people supposed to know what to do when the employees themselves are providing inconsistent information? At one point, an employee removed a single document from my filing packet, handed it back to me, and told me that I needed to serve that document separately to the other party. This was extremely confusing because the document was supposed to be included with the packet being filed. Situations like this create unnecessary delays and force people to repeatedly go back and forth just to get basic instructions. What is even more concerning is that I am not the only person experiencing this. Almost everyone I have spoken with inside the courthouse has expressed the same frustrations: nothing gets done, everything is delayed, and people are receiving misinformation. When multiple people are independently describing the same experience, that should be taken seriously. This is unacceptable for a government institution that is supposed to provide access to justice. People come to the courthouse because they are already dealing with stressful and often extremely serious legal matters. They should not have to spend hours being sent from floor to floor, receiving contradictory instructions, being treated disrespectfully, or worrying that their case will be delayed because they were given incorrect information. The courthouse needs better training, communication, accountability, and a system that actually helps people navigate the legal process. People deserve accurate information, respectful treatment, and timely processing--especially when their families, finances, safety, and futures may depend on it. To make matters worse than what they already are they DO NOT WILL NOT ANSWER THE PHONE ! Why put a phone number if you people will not answer the phone or simply do YOUR JOB!

A big thank you to Richard at the counter for being so friendly, helpful, and efficient. The entire process went very smoothly, and everything was completed in about 20 minutes. Starting June 12, 2026, I officially became a California Notary Public for a four-year term! A quick note for anyone visiting: parking can be a little challenging. Richard mentioned there is a free parking lot behind the building, but I wasn't sure which one he meant, so I decided not to risk it and parked elsewhere. Overall, a very smooth experience thanks to the helpful staff!

For example, finding out the difference between a commissioner and a judge. Finding out that the district attorneys office may do an offer, and the public defenders office can also give an offer, and sometimes the judge or commissioner can give an offer! One may recall paying fines, and a very long line outside, those days are gone from what I've observed, even the rope barriers aren't needed for now short lines. But for today, since the person I accompanied pleaded "Not Guilty" & Extending another court date to late September.
