She provided me with expert trauma informed care and such profound gentleness, patiently explaining what she was going to do while listening and attending to my needs compassionately. I was able to complete the procedure. The next session, I was given a different local anesthetic for my comfort without asking. I really appreciate this dental office. As an adult who avoided going to the dentist for a while out of fear, this office is a breath of fresh air. They never fail to make me feel safe and as comfortable as they reasonably can when it comes to dental work. I'm so glad to have found them.

Dr. Alex however is the most condesending, and rude person I have met in quite a while. I was in the process of getting root canals and trying to figure out what the next step was, I was getting all sorts of mixed messages and I was told several times when I would call on a Thursday that I would get a call back on the follwing tuesday, and then I would have to call back a week later. This happened 3 times. I was told different things, by different people and then made to feel as if I was being difficult. If I am told that I am getting a call, then I expect a call. If I do not recieve that call days after I supposed too. I am going to call again. Finally I was greeted by Dr. Alex who refused to take any accountibility, mis communication or not, I have the voicemail, and she said I was being unreasonable and did not know where my expectations were coming from that they would call me back. Never in my life have I come across a business this unprofessional and unaccountable. They let you know the cost, what insurance will cover and your final out of pocket cost ahead of time. The hygienist is very friendly, always concerned about if you're comfortable. She does a great job and prefers to do the cleaning with tools which to me seems less painful. Now we get to Doctor Montag who is a doctor that believes in modern technology and isn't afraid to get it. Today I went in for a cleaning, and informed the hygienist that a cap had fallen off last week. She took an X-ray and Dr Montag came in to look at it. He then informed me that a client had cancelled and that he could take care of it right away. I decided, why wait! One of the great things about this office is he has invested in the equipment to make a crown right away. Within an hour he had it made, installed and I don't have to return. This is what a dentist should be.

Instead, I met Dr. Schwartz, and within minutes he had me feeling safe, cared for, and even laughing. Yes... actually laughing in a dentist's chair. Wild. He listened to me, he understood my fears, and at one point after hearing what I went through, he just looked at me with this gentle "you poor thing" energy -- but in the sweetest, most compassionate way. Not judgmental, not pitying... just genuinely kind. He has a great sense of humor, an incredibly gentle approach, and he made me feel human, not embarrassed. I left feeling relieved, grateful, and honestly shocked that I found a dentist I'm excited to go back to. I've never had to wait long for an appointment, either. Everything seems to run on time and everyone is friendly. My hygienist is gentle and friendly. They keep you with the same hygienist each time and they immediately schedule the appointment with you themselves after the cleaning. Dr. Schwartz has been my doctor. He is gregarious and seems thorough. I was pregnant and couldn't get x-rays during a couple of cleanings, but felt he inspected my teeth carefully. While it's in an unassuming building, this has been a great practice so far. I only withhold one star because I have never experienced anything beyond basic care there.

Both of our boys have been with Dr. Sossner since they were 5 and 9. Now that they are undergrad and graduate students, they make it a priority to visit Dr. Sossner when they come home for their dental needs. Moved here and tried a dentist in Delmar who, upon his first look, said I needed gum work. Something with a laser. I don't recall the details. That felt wrong based on my prior dentist's opinion. Before I had any more work done by the Delmar fellow, I met Hal at a social gathering. Shortly after, I had an appointment with Hal who confirmed that I have great teeth and gums and need no gum work.
