When my wife and I arrived in Schenectady from NYC in 2005 we found a dentist we thought would be…read moreadequate for our family of four. Dr. Sossner is not adequate. He and his staff are exceptional. Every aspect of this practice is directed toward the well-being of the patient. This is simply the best dental care I've ever received. Here you will find a highly skilled and extremely well rounded practice, without the high-cost frills and window dressing. This is a place to heal, maintain health and wellbeing. My wife and I trust Dr. Sossner. He is consistently empathetic, and so are those that work along side him. Both my wife and I have standard issue teeth - some problems , mostly older cavities, some root canals needed. Our care has been top-notch. There is never an instance where we feel the procedures are unnecessary or excessive. In one case when we needed specialized work done, we were promptly referred to a specialist, one with both high quality expertise, as well as being reflective of the kind of service we had come to expect from anyone associated with Dr. Sossner. Both of our boys have been with Dr. Sossner since they were 5 and 9. Now that they are undergrad and graduate students, they make it a priority to visit Dr. Sossner when they come home for their dental needs. My 91 year old mother now lives with us, and her dentist recently retired. Once the pandemic eases up, Dr. Sossner will have yet another member of our family as a patient. I am proud and honored to give Dr. Sossner's practice this 5-star rating. ... Note: There are three other prior reviews here. One is a 2-star. At best, I'm assuming this is a case of mistaken identity. At worst, it is, from what I can tell, illegitimate and designed to malign a good doctor, and should be removed from Yelp. I doubt the authenticity, and so should anyone perusing these pages.

Hal has been caring for my teeth for a dozen years. I live in Albany, but make the drive to…read moreSchenectady twice a year for cleanings. So that makes 24 visits! I couldn't be happier. He cares deeply about his profession and patients and has a great "chair side" manner. Hal's staff is fully pro, too. An interesting (to me) aside. I moved here from Omaha, where we lived for a dozen years. Had a dentist there who said I had really great teeth and gums and as a result, recommended cleanings only once a year. Moved here and tried a dentist in Delmar who, upon his first look, said I needed gum work. Something with a laser. I don't recall the details. That felt wrong based on my prior dentist's opinion. Before I had any more work done by the Delmar fellow, I met Hal at a social gathering. Shortly after, I had an appointment with Hal who confirmed that I have great teeth and gums and need no gum work. Twelve years later, while looking up his number on Yelp, I see he has one bad review, so I'm happy to give him his second glowing review in an effort to encourage you to give him a try.

i put a review about this business a few months ago and i am happy to report than they seem to have…read morechanged. I had complained that one of the dentists who was my dentist was only there twice a month and he is now coming in more often. He is there once a week now and the other dentist that was only there twice week is now there every day. Many people don't handle criticism well so I really respect the doctors for listening and changing to make things better. They were extremely nice to me when i came in for my appointment which I did appreciate. I think Yelp is the best thing that ever happened because it makes everyone accountable for their actions no matter how big the company or important the individual is. Thank you to Union Street Dentistry

I would not recommend this office to anyone because it was my experience that the office manager…read morewas extremely disrespectful and argumentative, The receptionist was not at all knowledgeable of any of the questions that I was asking her. And no she was not a new employee. I was hung up on and was asked if I wanted to cancel the remaining of my appointments. The only thing I called there for was to ask what the next step in my dental treatment was going to be. The dentist that is going to do my root canal called them and spoke directly to the dentist that was treating me and no one including the rude office manager had no clue what I was talking about. I was told we have no record anything that you are talking about so moving forward when you call here listen to what is being told to you and give us the respect that we are due. I tried to explain to her that I was sitting there when the other dentist called them the office manager continued to over talk me and would not listen to anything I had to say. She hung up on me twice. If you are loosing records/notes and being that disrespectful what are you going to do during the procedure that I will be paying you to preform on my mouth. No thanks keep your unorganized services and disrespect.

Wonderful first visit with Dr Schwartz. I walked into this…read moreappointment today absolutely terrified -- like "should I cancel and pretend this never existed?" terrified. My teeth are in rough shape right now, and after a horrible past dentist who basically wanted to pull everything out (trauma city), I was expecting the worst. Instead, I met Dr. Schwartz, and within minutes he had me feeling safe, cared for, and even laughing. Yes... actually laughing in a dentist's chair. Wild. He listened to me, he understood my fears, and at one point after hearing what I went through, he just looked at me with this gentle "you poor thing" energy -- but in the sweetest, most compassionate way. Not judgmental, not pitying... just genuinely kind. He has a great sense of humor, an incredibly gentle approach, and he made me feel human, not embarrassed. I left feeling relieved, grateful, and honestly shocked that I found a dentist I'm excited to go back to. If you're scared of dentists or carrying trauma from past experiences, please go see Dr. Schwartz. He changed everything for me.

While I have never had any major issues, I have been pleased over the last three visits. The check-in paperwork is electronic which makes a lot of sense to me in 2018 and it's simple to complete. I've never had to wait long for an appointment, either. Everything seems to run on time and everyone is friendly. My hygienist is gentle and friendly. They keep you with the same hygienist each time and they immediately schedule the appointment with you themselves after the cleaning. Dr. Schwartz has been my doctor. He is gregarious and seems thorough. I was pregnant and couldn't get x-rays during a couple of cleanings, but felt he inspected my teeth carefully. While it's in an unassuming building, this has been a great practice so far. I only withhold one star because I have never experienced anything beyond basic care there.
