This is my first comic book store I've been to and I'm so glad it was because the team there is so incredible and beginner friendly. As a person who's just getting into the world of comic books I went for their Black Friday special where all their back covers were priced at a $1! This was such a phenomenal opportunity to dip my toes at a low cost. Now I'm hooked and I've gone back at least two more times. As a queer man I was a little self conscious about entering (some would say) a gate kept heteronormative environment but I was proven very wrong by the very friendly owner and staff. If you ever get to meet Steve he's the nicest man ever. Don't be shy to ask questions, I definitely was and I was met with no ill will. read more

I don't usually leave reviews but Kevin left an impression. Give this guy a raise! He was enthusiastic, helpful, and friendly. I'm new to comics so I was completely lost but Kevin guided me thoughtfully through the selection. Left with more comics than I was anticipating, and I want to (and will) come back. Only cons are I wish they had a larger selection of trade paperbacks and I wish they offered at least a 10% percent military discount (which is what I'm able to get from the comic bug). I had some comic books from the 1990s and was tired of them collecting dust. I called Comic Cult, and the owner answered. I had called other stores some years back, and the persons who answered were not people with pleasant attitudes. This owner was very pleasant. So I drove over to drop off the comics. We went inside the store, and it was spectacular!! VERY CLEAN, QUITE PROFESSIONAL!! Seemed like an endless supply to look through, like a huge buffet!! We ended up talking for quite awhile. A friend of my son said there was a sale on Batman stuff so we came in to check it out. I used to frequent this store when I was a kid back in the 90s. Theres new management but the actual store feels just like it did back then. I love the decor and the layout of the store. Everything was very easy to find, the cashier was very helpful with his suggestions on what my son should start reading, and I also couldnt control myself from picking up a trade paperback for myself. I believe they also send in comics to be graded and put inside a slab for protection. The comic bins had a good selection and if you can't find a missing issue, you can ask them to source/order one for you too. There aren't many comic book stores left due to everything going digital. Please!! Lets support the local comic book store. Nothing beats reading a physical comic book. We walked out with $200 worth if comics today and smiles on our faces. My son's first visit to a comic book store is memorable not only for me, but for him. We'll be back for sure read more

Apparently, the shop is under new ownership. It's been a while since my last visit since I've been purchasing online from Discount Comic Book Service. I called ahead of time to be sure they had the storage boxes I needed and was pleased to find they are still less expensive than Geoffrey's in Gardena. Steve, one of the new owners, is very helpful and pleasant to deal with. This is not always the case with comic book shops. I was impressed with how he was able to explain the backstory of Ben Riley and the Spider clone storyline (he'll be introduced in the next Across The Spider-verse movie this year) to a customer who was buying a lot of newer books that deal with Riley in the current Spider-Man universe. I'm glad to see the shop is in good hands. The shop is very clean and seems to be well organized (I didn't have time to look around very much). I did see a good selection of variant cover issues. I feel motivated to drop in more and check out what they have to offer. To quote Maverick from Top Gun I, it's looking good so far. read more

The owners are downright rude. If you ask them a question, they act as if answering you is doing you a favor. Want to pull comics? You have to write it down on a 3x5 card. What is this, the 1990s? I pre-ordered three comics on one of those cards, and months later I come in to pick them up, they lost it. Then they acted like they'd never had the card and that I was making it up. A few days later, they contacted me to say someone had misplaced the card and the comics had just been sitting in the back. Well, tough luck, because I'd already ordered the missing comics online. Then they cry on social media about people not picking up pre-ordered comics. Horrible business read more

The new owners here are dope as hell. I used to come here as a kid and was put off by the atmosphere but I really enjoy the new owners Tony and Steve. Tony talked to me in depth about comic books and dude knows his stuff. I've been held back from getting into comics because of how much there is. It's just too overwhelming. Tony helped me pick out some good self contained stories and gave me a good starting point. He's a cool dude too, not what you'd think of a stereotypical comic book nerd. He definitely made me feel comfortable with the hobby and I'm excited to check out these new pick ups! These are some hardworking guys and it's worth it to support small businesses. If you haven't been here before and wanna check it out, come through it's much nicer now lol. The man behind the counter was very polite and not condescending at all when I asked "dumb" questions. We got my son a reasonably priced Starter Pack & both my kids some inexpensive comic books. I recommend this place to all my superhero-loving comic book readers. Met at the door by Darrel and his associate and they seemed like some cool dudes. He offered more than just business. We talked about the Marvel Universe and the direction that it was going for like 30 minutes, which I definitely was not expecting but was the highlight of my day. We chatted about how Carnage is appearing everywhere and the influence that he portends. We even talked about the upcoming comic con, which we are both excited about (26 days and counting). I came to the store out of nostalgia and I want to get a gift for a friend because the new Spiderman movie is about to come out. They were able to direct me to their library of comics available and he help me select the perfect gift. He may not know always where things are but he knows how to find them which is pretty organized system. This has to be the very first comic book store I've been to and I still love it to this day. Bob is one cool, laid-back guy with great customer service. He welcomes everyone that goes to this place. He's the ONLY person that I talk to about Sandman & Death/DC Vertigo comics in Carson ever since "Homerun Cards & Comics" went out of business! If you want to rent a movie or a porno, hahaha... you can hit up this place. This is an oldschool throw-back vintage kind of comic book store, which I love because it's what makes it different from other stores in general. Yes, you got the people smoking inside, but it's a feel of how oldschool and great this place has been throughout the years without ever changing except for the table games, which I honestly don't mind seeing because I would rather see these kids play the table games than doing something stupid like join a gang, do drugs or do the damn jerking crap with skinny jeans on. Went back in today to buy more backing boards and take my chances again with their back issue stacks. There is no question in my mind that the gentlemen running the store have the customers needs and buying experience as a high priority. They are attentive and speak on a very professional level. They offered me a discount on my purchase of over $100 for customer loyalty, which is a good business practice and even told me about an upcoming 50% off all back issues sale on an upcoming Saturday in August. Even offered a bag to carry my purchase items in. All great things......BUT!!!.....their Back issue bins are still a dirty, disorganized mess. I had time to find a few things I wanted, but still had to dig through entire, out of order, stacks to locate certain issue numbers. Hopefully after the big back issue sale, which they say will flood the store with stack after stack of great "stuff"....that they may consider, putting their back issue stacks in ORDER for easy back issue location. I'm bumping my rating up a star because of the superior customer service. I want to give you all 5 stars...but not until you get your back issue stacks as nicely organized with as much care as your your new issue shelves. Come on guys...you can do this! Needed dice to achieve a lifelong mini goal of getting into DnD, and I cannot say enough how clean and careful everyone in the store was. They sanitized the miscellaneous dice so I was still able to pick out the cute ones (I require cute dice, so sue me). Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. After seeing reviews of other places, I chose to come here in particular as an amateur geek, but only the most clueless new DnD player. I was at a restaurant with my girls and when they got restless I took them for a walk to this comic book store. I walked around with the girls and as they were enjoying all the nice pictures and recognizing some of the comic book heroes. The person working there that day made their day by giving them the first comic books. This was a very kind act and you don't see people doing things like this anymore. Small local shop just up the St. from me. I don't collect a-lot of titles anymore so this place is perfect for me! They're particularly great at ordering new stuff that some places might not carry. Can't say enough about the customer service in helping track down some titles that I thought I couldn't get. read more

The biggest downer of this place is the rude ass owner whom has absolutely no understanding of "customer service." I live close to this place, which is the only reason I stopped by to pick up a back issue. I couldn't find it n the bins so I asked the aforementioned rude owner if he had it in stock. He did the usual lazy, "well if it's not on the shelves, I must not have it" line. The problem is that he has no real filing system for his back issues. He just has them in the bins without dividers or tabs with titles on them. I refuse to rifle through this dude's mess of a back issues bin while his lazy ass just sits behind the counter. He is, sadly, your stereotypical antisocial comic book guy with a rude attitude towards casual customers. My recommendation is to make the trek to Manhattan Beach and visit the Comic Bug. They have excellent and friendly service as well as organized back issues. I'm not a person who likes to play card games, but it seems as if they have a huge following and a separate room where people game. read more

What can i say about the Comic Cult!!! I've been shopping here for years and i can't get enough. There is nothing too special about this place, get your comics, rent a movie or just hang out. I'm not into them table games but man does it attract a few people. The employee's rule!! Bob is an awesome guy to talk to as well as the other older gentlemen that works there. They both seem to know there comics and it's very cool. I sometimes end up staying a good 30 minutes just talking to the clerks! I love this place. Well i never thought ive would make a review bout this comic book place I been to but since I read some bad feedback about this comic book store owner and customers had some bad experience with this individual I just thought I'd put my two cents about this topic since I also had a bad experience with this owner runs this comic shop almost 2 months ago I encountered this comic shop around the area Harbor UCLA kind of across the street from Harbor Hospital it's weird because I've been coming to Harbor UCLA area for many years now and this is the first time I noticed this comic shop which I finding out this storekeeper been running this business for many years now since I am into this kind of stuff decided check it out, when I went inside I can't say I was too impressed with The place looks like if it being run in someone basement and the selections are limited ..but I did not care tho' since I think it was really cool to see a comic book store in this area since you don't really see many of these stores now days especially in that area When I was inside I meet comic shopkeeper owner and started talking to him a bit he seem like a decent guy seem to know his stuff told me stories about the earliest times at the Comic-Con this is before Comic-Con wasn't as big as it is now so I thought it was interesting that he's been going there since the very beginning. ..but then I start to notice a bad side with this old guy a bit arrogance, rude and know-it-all ism At first I didn't pay too much attention to this I thought maybe he was just having a bad day also the weather at that time was pretty hot so maybe I didn't got in his best mood ..But no!! It gets interesting when I started talking about the DC Animated Universe that I told him think is a lot better than the live-action DC Universe and we started talking about the original characters that Bruce timm Paul dini created like the famous Harley Quinn and Live wire, lock up just to name a few That they created over the years since I grew up with it I'm a big fan of it I've been following the DCAU since the Batman the Animated Series in the very beginning, we started talking about the character Harvey bullet started debating that he assisting that he was an original character created by Bruce timm and the other writers but he really wasn't I told him he wasn't an original character for Batman the Animated Series he was actually from the DC comic came out in the 1970s but he was a lesser character in the comics Bullet only made brief appearances since ..until he came back on the Animated Series of Batman which he became very well known popular right after ..But no he kept on assisting that he was original character created by them trying to prove that he's right and treating me like I'm an ignorant fool like I don't know my stuff either come on!! The last thing I end up telling him go Online go to DC wiki I'm sure there's information regarding the character bullet just to prove it to him ..and then right after I couldn't even believe that he did this he told me to leave to get out of his shop when i said that .. I'm all thinking for a second is he serious?? He's joking right?? But No!! He was dead serious he was going throwing me out because of that and then I end up telling him you're seriously going to kicked me out because of that well that's pretty immature ( and coming from an old geezer like this guy that is saying something I'm thinking ) and then he is telling me I DON'T CARE JUST GET OUT!! he said and then i said to him well no business from me then and of course he keeps telling me I Don't Really Care Just Get Out Of My Shop he said so I just told him off and tell him you have a lot of issues old man plus you're a bit of a know-it-all you want to be right about everything and be correct never to be proven wrong So I left it wasn't worth my time I'm not going to be fighting over this old guy for something so stupid childish like this I try not to take it seriously because the guy is old and he is probably in that age that he's a bit senile or needs his medication or something so I didn't really think much of it at that time ..but I guess it did kind of made me upset because for someone like him to be kicking me out for something like that its pretty stupid childish behavior I'm surprised that this guy's business has been there for many years because of his rudeness unprofessional behavior and not knowing how to treat his customers. read more

My second tournament at this shop, an adult not a kid, threw his deck on the floor for going 0-3. I would go here for cheap common/uncommon cards, plus Dig through Times is marked at $2. I used to come to this shop a lot in the early 90s. i probably haven't stepped foot in this place for over 10 years until today, I can't speak for their comic supply or their gaming events, but I can say that I really appreciated that i apparently showed up about 30 minutes before they opened and the person working their opened the shop for me anyway. i was there to pick up a Dice Masters starter. i grabbed that and some boosters. They have a smallish selection of board games as well -- about 30-40 with a pretty good selection. i saw things like Catan, Pandemic, Love Letter, Forbidden Island and several others. Happy to know there is a local shop with some good games if I want to grab something. This is not my go-to comic shop or even the place I usually go for Dice Masters, but I had a good experience and wanted to share. read more

Competitive Magic tournaments, FNM, great judge, good pricing, and warm customer service is what the Cult offers. The Good: The best place for competitive and casual Magic gamers. The comics are at an affordable price and up to date comics. Tables and Chairs are comfortable to play on. Comic cult has great prizing with FNM and big event tournament. I'm writing a novel, and whenever I've got writer's block and need some inspiration, I hop over here, hunt through their $.50 bin, find some cool stuff, and move along with my day. The owner and employees are all very knowledgeable, and they're usually watching the Walking Dead whenever I'm in there. My only complaint is the parking lot. There's a Chinese restaurant that Comic Cult shares the lot with, and I generally have to park around the corner. I am generally there on the weekends, so I'm pretty sure it's only a weekend problem.
