I visited this place when I was in the Fullerton area. My first and LAST time there. EVERYTHING is outrageously overpriced. All back issues, and I'm talking non-key/non-variants, had an extra $1-3 added on top of the cover price. Most of these books would be sold at cover price or lower at any other comic store. What really offended me as a collector was their bundled comic sets. Usually when you find a store that does bundle comics into sets they are reasonably priced. This please changes and arm,leg, and you have to take out a loan. I remember seeing a DC set of about 20 books, it was a middle series run like JLA 44-64, you know something from mid to late 2000's....$125.00?!?!?!? Seriously???? That set is a $20 set. Please be aware that thins place is no place to get REASONABLY price comics. read more

I'm new to the world of comics, so my knowledge of the comic word falls somewhere between non existent and sub par. Why do I say this? Because at the Comic Book Hideout, it doesn't matter how much you know or how little you know. The employees all know their stuff, they are helpful, patient and most importantly...they don't act like new elitist comic snobs, like many of the other shops around. The owner, Glynnes is a sweetheart and she knows her shit. She takes the time to talk with the customers and makes it so you feel like you are visiting friends rather than shopping for comics. Obviously a smart cookie, she doesn't give of the holier than thou vibe, and her general attitude is what makes her place a paradise to the geeks and makes the term "nerd" something to strive for. The selection...well....is beyond amazing. If you are missing a certain issue in your collection, I DARE YOU to not find it here. I live down the street from other shops and I come here simply because going anywhere else is a waste of time or gas. There are constantly 50% off deals going on, or other bargains, and that is already on top of great prices. This place will be around for a long time because it takes all of the charms of every other shop and puts them in one. I refuse to spend my money anywhere else. If you are looking to trade in some classic comics you have, this is the ONLY place where you can be sure you are getting a fair deal. I've traded in comics for comics and while one place refused to work with me, CBH had me walking out with a smile. These guys will become your new friends and this place will become you new comic shop. Do yourself a favor, make the trip. If you have already been there....what the hell are you reading this for? You know how great it is! I don't need to tell you anything, this is for the people who haven't ventured yet. Comic Book Hideout has taught me that comics are awesome, and that I can save my money for something besides the Tuesday night C squad dancers with low standards at the local topless bar. So this place is great for adults and young kids. They have a nice selection of drawings from local artists. My favorite thing was the HUGE selection of comic books. The price ranges are great!! You can buy anything from a couple of bucks to hundreds or even thousands. I bought around 10 comic books and my total was around $30. I was a very happy customer and so were my little brothers. Also it has a bathroom and that's always a plus for me when I'm shopping. I do wish they had a larger selection of used books. Overall it was a very neat store and the staff was friendly. Ill start by saying that by no means is this a horrible shop. Its actually really nice looking! Things are categorized well and the layout of the store makes it really easy to find what you're looking for. However, the issue i had with it was the pricing. I came to this shop because I was told it had a HUGE selection of back issues (a rarity in shops nowadays) but I was disappointed with the amount they're charging for much of the stuff! And it wasn't marked up a small amount; I'm talking issues of Impulse and Super boy from the 90s for 3-5 bucks a piece! These things belong in quarter bins... after all, just because it's old, doesn't mean it's rare/valuable. Now, I understand that you pay for the convenience of not having to dig through random long box after random long box at places like frank and sons, but it just doesn't seem right to me to pay 5 bucks for a random issue of teen titans, which we all know is worth a buck at most, you know? Of course, it's their right to do what they want with their product. But I, for one, am not for it. read more

After a horrible experience at Phat Collectables, I was left without a store. The Hideout became my place to get my books. The crew at the HideOut are the best. They know you by name and will make good recommendations. Tim, Tatiana, Glynnes, and Tony are great. It's a great place to socialize. I learned how to play Magic by going to their game nights. This is a nice comic shop. They have quite a collection of new and back issues, trades, a nice indie section...they have some collectibles in there, figures and cards. All the employees here are super nice and pretty knowledgable. They have a music studio in the back for lessons, but I don't know too much about that. Stop in and check them out. read more

Guys helped me pick out a gift for a friend, showed me a ton of variety even when I knew nothing about X-Men Comics. Came in here looking for back issues. Left with a great experience!!! (And 1 back issue!!) For the last month I've been in comic craze mode. Went all up north the area and was picked clean. I decided to head south in the Fullerton area. I walked in a was formerly greeted by the chilliest dog ever!!! I thought man this has got to be the best place to work! Woo, free Comic Book Hideout stickers!! So that isn't the highlight of the trip though the stickers are pretty cool. Came here on a Black Friday with a friend. Great selection of comics and spacious room in the back where some tabletop games take place. The guy who works there is attentive and knowledgable about the comics his store sells. I've always loved little shops like this. The lighting, the atmosphere, the people going nuts about a certain story-line or universe. Comic Book Hideout has all this. The selection is huge and they even have tons of graphic novels. I do however wish it was better laid out. Having to go from one side of the store for independent comics and then to the other side of the store for more mainstream stuff can get old, especially for someone like me who can't make up his mind. They always seem to have lots of comics as well, as in they never seem to run out of a new edition. The people working there are great too, always willing to help out or just chat about whatever. I do like how new comics are well displayed front and center rather than just splayed across a rack like some shops might do. They even have game nights, which I have never attended, but it does look like fun. My only real gripe is that the comics are a bit marked up for my liking. That and board and bags are extra. While the boards and bags are only a quarter, a lot of other shops are giving them away with comics. This is for sure a great place to check out. If I was a local, I would make it my regular shop. read more

I came in to donate/sell a big box of comic books I had acquired from a friend that had been sitting in my storage unit. I did not have a good experience here, the two staff members were not very friendly almost to the point of being rude. I admittedly do not know a lot about comic books but they acted like I had brought in a pile of trash. I told them I didn't need it and wanted to give it to someone that would know what to do with it and the gentleman said they they could only donate it and that was it. When I told him my friend gave it to me he told me that they think my friend wanted me to throw it away. I didn't think that comic book fans would be so snobby but apparently they can be. I went with my husband and two sons (5 & 7yrs) and we each ended up buying a comic. I ended up coming back not too long after to pick up a back issue of The Star Wars. This is an update to an earlier review. I visited the store several weeks ago to check things out. I'm wiling to give a second-chance to anyone. The first thing that caught my attention was that Wonder Woman #71 (the Jennifer Frison $3.99 variant), was going for $5. So was the Jabba the Hut #1 variant which just came out that day. It's a $3.99 book that was marked up fo $5. That is not what the "market dictates". No other store I've gone to in Orange County and LA marks up regular variants (not incentive or retailer variants) an extra dollar that day the book comes out. Wow. That's just greed. I'm going to call it for what it is. GREED. What's more 2 of the shops I go to discount their variants 10-15%, so instead of paying $5.00 for a Frison variant at the Hideout, I'm paying $3.40 or $3.60. The back issues I found overpriced as well. Doesn't seem like much has changed. I hear what you say about matching online prices or "fair market" prices, but why should the starting point for negotiation be 10-20% above market? I believe your starting price should be at market to begin with, if not lower. The best thing, as a collector, is buying books knowing that you got a deal. It doesn't have to be a crazy good deal, but maybe 10% below market. That's what keeps us coming back. On your end, you should also be making a decent profit, so it's a WIN-WIN situation for buyer and seller. And we have a good relationship, which keeps us coming back. Honestly, I wouldn't go back to the Hideout unless there were another big sale. I love to support small business, but your prices are way out of whack with other shops, both for new books, especially $3.99 variant covers that are priced at $5, and older books, that are anywhere from 10-20% over what I can pay at other stores in the area or eBay. read more

This shop is just awesome, I honestly can't say enough good things about Comic Book Hideout and the shop's lovely owner Glynnes. I'm in town visiting family and stopped in looking for some comics for myself and something for my 10-year-old niece. I asked Glynnes for some age appropriate comic suggestions for my niece and she recommended D.C. SuperHero Girls and The Courageous Princess. Fantastic suggestions as it turns out since the kiddo is already 142 pages into The Courageous Princess. Saaaaay what?! I will gladly spoil this kid if it means she eats up awesome stories like this. This comic book shop is probably one of the friendliest here in OC!!! Tony and the owner, Glynnes will always make you feel welcome!!! It also has a back room for playing cards (I'm strictly into comic books though) and for bands!!! COMIC BOOKS + CARDS + MUSIC!!! This place is definitely the epitome of AWESOME and COOL!!! This is also one of the few comic shops where you can trade in your comic books. Most stores will say NO or "We don't do that!" Or they'll give you their "get out of here" look!!! Came in the other week for the first time and was really impressed. It's a small shop but not confining and it's very well organized. Super easy to navigate even if you're just browsing. The staff are great, really nice and helpful and make good recommendations. I've only more recently gotten into comic books so not knowing a lot about them going in, CBH was super accommodating. It's not overwhelming and the staff are always happy to assist. The location is also a selling point. It's about a block away from downtown Fullerton's main street which is a super nice area. The only problem I have with this store is that I need to leave my wallet in the car when I go inside. I dunno about the comic side, but their Magic singles are priced to move. The store is nice and spacious as well with plenty of space (even outdoor COVERED table space...?!) to play Magic or Board Games. Also, the sign on the door says "open till 7", but that seems like a guideline more than a rule...the owners were letting people relax and hang out and play their board games well into the wee hours of the morning. We asked a number of times if they were trying to close up and they implored us to stay, chat, and play, and Glynnes the owner was very hands on making sure everyone was having a good time and definitely knew her comic books. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the OC area. Update: Don't ask the owner about Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel unless you have a good 20-30 minutes to get taken to school on some deep comic book history. Man she knows her stuff!! read more

Starting going here starting the beginning of 2016 and I couldn't be happier. It's hard for me to keep up with when comics are released so I established a profile where they save the comics on my list. It's nice to come in and have your comics ready for you. It's always fun to go in and have a quick chat with the staff and sometimes pick up a newly recommended book. There is a minimum of $10 for card transactions so bring cash if you only want to buy 1 or 2 books. read more

There are 2 comic books stores in Fullerton. This one is the one that is bigger with larger selection of DC Comics (I think the other one has more Marvel), Anime and a very small selection of board games. THIS SPOT IS POPPIN!!! The employees are very friendly, whether you never read comics or never had any interest they will help you find a specific type that will surely have you coming back. Personally my fav comics are mainly from dc the green lantern/red lanterns issues and red hood and the outlaws and a new one that i found at this spot is tokyo ghost (not dc) f****** amazzinggg! This spot also has a DOPPPE ARCADE spot in the back with pretty creative artwork in display! Havent been there since last summer so i would know if the arcades still up and running. Anyways i also wanna say the owner of this spot is pretty cool anf friendly she straight hooked me up with a bag full of magic the gathering cards!! I love this comic book shop I can't say enough positive thing about this shop and the owner. I love comics but as a women it hard to feel comfortable at a comic book shop. Most shop I have been to I was ignored or they would judge me on what I picked. But not here, you can even get a super fun tour of the place if you go when the owner is there.
