My husband felt like we were being judged and treated like we didnt have money. Then when she brings us our change she is standing there waiting for the tip. I am a server myself and never treat guest based on how they are dressed and much less wait for a tip.

I do feel with a large party she could have used some help. There was plenty of staff. We had to wait a bit to get refills of water and get check. The food was good just average bar food. We got the fried mushrooms. They just tasted like the had been flash fried -nothing special but good. The fish and chips need salt and the tartar sauce was more like a dill sauce and very thin. I didn't particularly like it but the fish was good. My drink was delicious and dangerous. You can't taste the alcohol so be careful.

The aesthetic was a mix of rustic and glam. I love to judge places by how nice their restrooms are too and the picture I have of it below gives the vibes an A+ :) Their menu had a lot of options depending on your preference, from basic bar food to nicer entrees! They had lots of healthy options and I opted for the Chicken Monterrey which was delicious and light! The chicken was juicy and the string beans on the side were salted perfectly too. The service was friendly and accommodating. It never felt too slow or felt like they were rushing us out. I'd definitely come back!

Nothing compares to these. Every time we eat there, we ask, "What is it about the beef that makes them soooo good?", so finally we asked. The simple answer was that they let the meat speak for itself. Nothing but fresh, quality beef and a minimalist approach to spice. The lettuce is always fresh and crispy, the tomato is cut at just the right thickness, the onion never includes parts close to the dry outside or hard caps, and always plenty of pickles. If you haven't been there, give it a go, and if you're lucky it'll be on one of the days they have live music that is never too loud and always from solid talent. Server Amos is awesome!

Yelp lists this restaurant as closing at midnight on Saturdays, and the sign on the door says 11:00…read morePM. However, after we were seated on the patio, staff informed us that the kitchen closes at 10:00 PM, which was completely fine. Later, when they came by to ask if we wanted another round of drinks, we were told the bar also closes at 10:00 PM.. Around 10:15 PM, while we were still seated outside, staff locked the restaurant doors and turned off the lights while we were seated on the patio. Shortly afterward, a staff member told us we needed to leave and took our drinks, even though mine was still full. The issue isn't that the kitchen or bar closes at 10:00 PM--it's the lack of clear and consistent communication. If customers are expected to finish up and leave by 10:00 PM, that expectation should be clearly stated online, posted on the door, and communicated upfront when guests are seated. The current closing times are inconsistent and create a confusing and disappointing experience. Also the guac and margarita were lacking.

I went for a work luncheon of over 40 people and they were able to accommodate all of us without feeling crowded, which was impressive. Reservations were made but service was a little slow; honestly, it was reasonable given a party our size. They started each table with complimentary chips and three different salsas: a traditional red, a green avocado-jalapeño style salsa, and a creamy white salsa. The white salsa was the most flavorful--seemed like a sour cream, lime, and garlic concoction. The red and green salsas had a little heat but were a bit watery and bland. I ordered the tacos al carbon. The beef was chopped, well seasoned, and tender, just as described on the menu. It was a solid meal--nothing that completely wowed me, but nothing overly disappointing either. Overall, the food was better than okay, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the restaurant handled a very large group reasonably well. I'd come back and give Costa Messa another try, maybe during dinner to see how the experience compares.
