After a hot walk at the McAllen camp we decided to stop at the Howling Rabbits nearby never been so I decided to come check it out. I ordered the Risandia recommended by the waitress and cheese fries with meat very good and tasty.

I find myself writing this review from the toilet. Typically, while I do not write reviews, I felt compelled to do this one. As I strolled into the men's room to expel my last meal, I was shocked to be greeted with a glorious smell of wild flowers and the site of a spectacularly clean men's room. The toilets were very clean. They did not look like the night sky galaxy in the desert sky where stars beckon you to feel closer to god but with fecal material on the bowl instead. I have yet to have any food here so far but if this is the beginning. I look forward to a spectacular experience here. Update one: The toilet paper was one ply. Forgivable for now... Update Two: The food was okay. Pretty sure the beef was frozen for my burger not fresh. The pretzel was burned but I ate it anyway. The beer was okay.

Very cool place and very new to McAllen! All the beers they brew here we had and they are tasty. They offer a tasting flight! The food menu is great! The pizzas were delicious. We will be back!

They paid a 3hour dj that was extremely bad they lost half of there clients in a hour

My bartender didn't attend me for 30 mins after being seated I feel devalued as a person and I won't tolerate poor peoples disrespect

They were out of their own mediocre beers. So I had a Yellow Rose from another brewery instead. Food is okay, not great.

If it were busy I get it but when there is only 2 tables in the restaurant come on. Yet when the men in suits walk in they waited not even a minute and had thier menus at the table. I hadn't even finished my food when she was asking if we wanted the tab already. I should have asked if she was kicking us out already. My husband felt like we were being judged and treated like we didnt have money. Then when she brings us our change she is standing there waiting for the tip. I am a server myself and never treat guest based on how they are dressed and much less wait for a tip.

Staff didn't even acknowledge me or take my order in the 20 minutes I was there waiting at the bar. The place wasn't busy, there were maybe 3 other pairs of people at the bar and 2 tables taken up. It was 6 PM on a Thursday so the place was close to empty. The bartender was too busy talking to the barback and didn't even take my order. In that time, he checked on other customers at the bar then returned to his conversation with his coworker. It's never good for a bartender to do the rounds and ignore a client that hasn't yet been served ESPECIALLY on a slow night. This type of treatment can make a client feel profiled or discriminated against. Nothing else to say about this, never going back and I'll gladly recommend other places to people looking for a GOOD bar in McAllen.

I arrived a little after 3pm and there were just a few people inside. I was waited on pretty quickly, I think the waiter was just waiting to see where I settled. My waiter Aaron was friendly and attentive, and *tried to suggest something. The problem was, there were too many things I wanted to try! I settled on the fried oysters with a side of cajun fries. The oysters had a delicious seasoning and were well cooked. My only complaint was I felt they had too much breading to appreciate the oyster inside. Again, the breading was delicious - just too much. You get about 10 oysters. The fries were well seasoned as well, and quite plentiful. For dessert I had the caramel banana pie. It looked delicious, but for me, it was just too over the top. For the expense, I certainly would not order again. Speaking of "expense", this place is more in the "medium" price range and not something I would go to on a regular basis for lunch. It was good, and definitely maybe more of a dinner spot. Nice change of pace kind of place!

First off, let me say it's just a small place. A true "hole in the wall" as far as inside dining but they do have a nice space outside; a beer garden. The menu is pretty limited with a few appetizers, a total of maybe 6-8 entrees and a couple desserts. Our friends did appreciate the various beers and wines. We started with a freshly baked pretzel, served with either chocolate or Nutella to dip into or a nice spicy mustard. The pretzel wasn't heavily salted which was nice and had a really nice flavor. For my entree I chose the Jagersnitzel, a thin pork cutlet pounded thin, breaded, fried in what I perceived to be butter and then covered with a delicious creamed mushroom gravy. It was OUTSTANDING! I've had the same dish before at several German restaurants and this was superior to all of them. The crust, fried in butter? And the cream gravy? Oh wow.... Oh and the sides... red cabbage and fried potatoes with onions. All great German comfort food and very tasty. Several of our friends ordered the same entree with different sides. My wife had a very nicely presented salad as one of her side dishes. Another friend had spetzle which she said was really good, maybe a touch salty but good nonetheless. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals and said we'd definitely return next season at least once or twice. The service was timely, not hovering and we had plenty of time to chat, definitely not rushed. Waters were refilled promptly, drinks reordered, etc. We appreciated that they did not automatically add in the tip of 18% for our party of eight as is customary at so many restaurants. In the end I'm certain she received a far greater amount than the 18%. Be aware this place is small and out of the way. Difficult to find even. It is on the west side of Ware Rd, which is a divided roadway at that point and you can only make a right hand turn into what appears to be a narrow roadway back past another business before seeing the building that houses the restaurant. But rest assured... it is there. There is signage on the west side of Ware. Follow your GPS. It is well worth the drive out to this restaurant. Prices aren't too high, the food is great and you'll enjoy a nice leisurely meal.

It's Saturday evening and the place is closed. We were expecting a nice dinner and beer but no What…read moregives!
