The 1st told me I had a bad pressure switch and most likely a cracked heat exchanger, after he left & returned with a new switch, it also did not work and he declared a cracked exchanger the problem & a new unit in order, took the new part back and charged me a service call. The 2nd that came out climbed up to my attic, looked across at the unit, listened to what I told them about the 1st tech that had looked at it, and then went out to inspect my A/C unit for unit size and let me know they would email me an estimate for a new system. Brandon Bradley came out, took all my heat unit panels off, inspected the heat exchanger and then looked at the pressure switch, he found the valve itself was clogged, cleared it with a paperclip and HEAT! Hard working, knowledgeable, HONEST! It was a pleasure to meet him, and I do recommend you do the same!

He came out and immediately recognized that our compressor had gone out on not only our downstairs unit but also our upstairs unit as well in which he replaced both. He also replaced our Hunter brand programmable thermostat which had been giving us a few problems. If anyone has any ac needs, I'd definitely recommend this company. He promised he'd stay involved and keep communication flowing. That held up briefly, then he completely disappeared... and so did his father, Robert Senior, who had "taken over" operations. I would hardly call his lack of communication and strong lack of customer service "taking over." My tenant dealt with ongoing AC issues for over a month, sometimes with no working air during hot summer days. Every time I was told the issue was resolved--whether it was the thermostat, the board, the float switch, or then a mysterious plumbing issue--something else would go wrong. I asked repeatedly for a clear breakdown of what was fixed, when, and by whom. I was told it would be emailed. I gave my email address, correctly spelled, six different times. Still never received the paperwork and it has now been almost THREE MONTHS. To make matters worse, when I tried to get clarity, Robert Senior called me and snapped. I remained calm and professional throughout, but the lack of accountability and the dismissiveness were inexcusable. At the end of the day, I had to micromanage every step just to keep things from falling apart. This company may be family-run, but the communication and professionalism were anything but warm or reliable. And this is putting all of the above lightly. SCAM ALERT. Proceed with caution. Tech, whether intentional or not, reversed the fan direction and…read morethen qutoed me 1200 to fix it and fill up the freon. Had a 2nd opinion come out and ask me who was messing around with the fan because it was hooked up in reverse. The 2nd opinion tech was able to get the unit working at the service call without the freon they told me I needed or new condenser fan. Also important to note, there would have been no way for the unit to have been operational two full summers) with the fan in reverse, leaving the only people to have reversed the fan direction being J&J. When presented with this information, J&J became defensive and instead of apologizing, refused to come out and fill up the freon on the other unit. If they weren't so defensive, I'd be more inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. They instead chose to get ugly with me leading me to believe I had uncovered their scam. Again, proceed with caution. Attached is the bid with the condenser fan that wasn't needed and supporting text from my tenant who as also told our problem was the fan going the wrong direction.

The original system installed with the house was undersized and I consulted three different vendors for proposals to solve my problem. Gary proposed what I thought was the most sound plan and his price quote was competitive. Additionally I wanted a local Franklin company who I knew would stand behind their work. Gary and his crew installed the new American Standard system (the brand I had requested) professionally and it is working very well. Major upgrades were made to tonnage, ducting size, as well as adding a new cold air return and two new feed vents. As the upstairs was being done it became apparent that my downstairs 22 year old package unit also needed major repairs. So I decided to have Gary also replace that unit with an American Standard gas/electric package unit. Again, a quick and professional installation at a very competitive price. I price shopped against the big boxes as well as other Franklin HVAC vendors. As many of my neighbors have been replacing their own units over the past several years, and as each did theirs, I asked both their vendors and the property owners many questions about their product features, costs, etc. So I was a very informed consumer going into this process and felt Gary and his company checked all the important boxes. Professional attitude and work, competitive cost and a real concern that I was happy with his work. I will recommend Air Environment to anyone who asks me and will use Gary for all my future HVAC needs.
