I could hardly hear the lady on the line. I asked for her name but she refused to provide it. I told her I wanted to ensure it was cancelled. I asked her to email me the confirmation. I looked at my email. There was a cancellation, but there was ALSO a confirmation of a reservation for SEVEN nights! The price was $715! So I searched for yesterday's reservation and it was for SEVEN nights at $715 by Jamie's when she distinctly told me the total price would be $270! In addition to the WRONG days, the WRONG price, ALL the confirmations have my name misspelled. Getting to talk to a supervisor is impossible. I hope I am not charged after 'whoever it was' confirmed the reservation a SECOND time AFTER cancelling it. I wonder if they are on drugs or they want to get fired. This is unacceptable.

We were given a Protospiel special rate, which allowed us to get a King-bed room with a jacuzzi tub for the same rate as a basic twin setup. Awesome indeed! The concierges at the desk during our two night stay were cordial and all-around helpful. They assisted me with printing when I needed some feedback sheets for my game, as well as with a few other minor issues. Our room was neat and clean, with clear instructions for the jacuzzi and a wonderful array of pillows. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were wonderful; the pool and hot tub were open until midnight, which allowed us some great ability to relax after a few long days of travel and gaming. If I had any complaints about the hotel, it might be that the shower was just a touch cramped (especially with the relative size of the bathroom), and that the A/C unit seemed a little slow to respond. By and large, though, these were minor quibbles. I'm already looking forward to another trip up for next year's Protospiel!

She knows her way around so please feel welcomed to ask her for directions. Her cozy abode is quirky at first but you'll be drawn by the deep passion this lady has for these knickknacks. Home is well furnished: community bathroom, community kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and dining room (red room) for breakfast. Very clean and full of color. She cooks a pretty good "eggs in a basket" dish that's a scramble of eggs, asparagus, almonds, cranberries, and chicken/asiago cheese sausages. Croissant (so good!), coffee, tea, and orange juice is also available. She's very accommodating so don't be afraid to ask. The only issues we came across were the extra soft beds and fleece sheets that may be uncomfortable for some. Room's aren't too spacious but enough to house two people comfortably (but who stays in on a vacation?). She does have cats but they stay in her room and may roam in the breakfast area. I'm allergic to cats but they were not a problem for me at all. Please do keep the library bed and breakfast in mind the next time you come to Ann Arbor as her price is comparable and she'll make your experience a pleasurable memory!

The owner, Joan Knoertzer, indicated that she was late for an appointment, but asked for a minute, then came back and told us to come by anyway! We arrive to a non-description residence covered with grapevines and trees on Mary Street, just off the busy corner of Packard and State. You could almost throw a rock and hit the Athletic Administration building we were so close! We parked on the street and walked up the curving steps to warmly greeted by a wonderful lady decked out in full Maize and Blue. This was just the beginning, as we entered which could best described as a bibliophile paradise crossed with a museum to all things Ann Arbor/ U of M. Climbing the steps, you first encounter the Poetry and Mystery Rooms, followed by a full Pullman kitchen and sitting area. If your into Ann Arbor's past, you'll find two great hanging lights from the old Pretzel Bell Restaurant, surrounded by books of all types. Last is the Tiny Book Room, which is filled with - you guessed it - tiny books. We had a great dinner later than night at Melting Pot (review forthcoming) and went to bed early and slept great. We woke up the next morning to amazing smells coming from downstairs, where we and another couple were greeted to fresh coffee, OJ, homemade pumpkin bread and pumpkin butter! This was followed by a fruit course and an amazing quiche. Mixed with a wonderful conversation, we felt like we were totally at home. Even the three cats, Kipling, Cinnamon and, well, I forget the third, treated us well. We then spent the next hour talking about everything books - we just didn't want to leave! Unfortunately it was rainy and cold the entire time we were there so we ubered everywhere. If you are looking for a location that's walkable this is a perfect B&B! Our host was very nice and upon arrival ( early arrival) she showed us the many available amenities. Soda, water, beer, hot tea, hot coffee, oatmeal, granola bars and many salty snacks to choose from at any point during our stay. The husband and I are not big on sharing bathrooms so we chose the attic room which was spacious and had a wonderful bathroom all to ourselves with heated floors! Being on the third floor of a hundred-year-old home means you don't always get the most heat so we were provided with a space heater that kept us perfectly cozy. Our bed was comfortable, our showers were hot, our breakfast of bacon and french toast was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversation with the other guests! In my opinion, there are three good restaurants in this area: Mac's Seafood in Saline, Evans Street Station in Tecumseh and Clinton Inn. Looking from the outside I didn't see anything extremely extraordinary but when I got to the room and looked closer, this is a step above. Whether boutique is the right name or not, I really liked this place! Checked in easily even two hours early, which was great, king size bed with lots of pillows, above standard linens, Starbucks, coffee, TV refrigerator the basics until you go to the bathroom. Took me a minute to look and see the details then when my eyes got focused first thing I noticed was a full sauna shower with overhead showerhead, jets coming from the back, extendable wand, Good sized with easy push button water jets. Then to the toilet! Full state of the art bidet toilet with heated seat, heated water, spray, dryer, temperature controls not your standard bathroom. This is a $3000 toilet lol. I'm getting one for my house! Then I look at the mirror and there are buttons with Bluetooth on off and on the ceiling, Bose stereo speakers that you can sync your phone to while you take a shower and listen to music. Have to say for a little over 200 bucks a night hotels I've stayed at in New York City for $400 may have had more room, but they didn't have amenities like this. This is an older looks like a family owned business, with plenty of conference rooms, and just those extra touches that told me this place was above and beyond. I went ahead and opted for the 12 ounce prime rib, which came out perfectly rare to medium rare. My colleague got the ribeye also medium rare. Perfect, we had a escargot and some great short rib, stuffed pastry, and au jus, couldn't really reverse engineer it, but it was quite tasty. Full bar selection, excellent brands and great wine selection. Breakfast was a little pricey, but expected. Having recently had a heart attack. I opted for the overnight oats with apple and Greek yogurt while the other dish was the American breakfast with eggs hashbrowns sausage, the Works. This is fine, dining, tablecloths, servers are all spot on, front staff is cordial and friendly. Just not something you get at a Hilton or a Marriott that we typically stay at. Price points were a little higher, but have to say I was not only pleasantly surprised but very impressed. Being an older place. There's a lot of finished wood work, sitting areas that are nicely decorated. Personally, I loved it. The next time in the area, I will gladly come back and enjoy everything they have to offer here.
