After some soul searching and what not, I figured I'd try a bed and breakfast and do this place since I'm a scrapbooker. My scrapbookings fallen by the wayside over the past year, so I got really behind due to my work schedule. I figured why not, let's see what all this excitements about with this Bed and breakfast stuff. They're supposed to have valet here on Friday nights, but I guess not this time. I was kind of bummed because I had three different things to carry in, two of which were heavy. (The valet was supposed to carry in your scrapping cart and luggage for you.) since that wasn't available I went inside, found the host Tracy and she was more then willing to help me get my stuff in. I had an assigned seat with other crafters, most of them were repeat people who come all the time. It's not just scrapbooking here. One lady had her sewing machine, another was doing digital drawings, others were making a multitude of projects. You have to bring most of your own stuff like scissors, supplies, etc. They have a "store" in the basement with a great selection of paper, a few light supplies (which I ended up needing because I blew thru a TON of double sided tape) and a crop area. The die cut area is something to be desired. The blade needs sharpening on the paper cutter. They have a cricket but said to bring your own cricket mat. I asked about using it, and it was like "oh yea, that thing. If you know how to use it, go ahead." *sigh* Not a single person there used it and nobody had a mat. Good thing I didn't buy one. That would've been a huge waste. The die cuts themselves are okay, but it could be better. They have some premade ones for sale, and the ones on the wall where you do it yourself were really limited. Nothing's more exciting than being in the middle of a project and needing to find a little wagon for my page only to find out they don't have a wagon die cut. The stores I go to have a decent selection. Why not here. Anyway, I digress. The bonus of being here is they have a fabulous outdoor pool. It's not heated, so if you like swimming in ice water, this is your scene. LOL. I did get in because it was 90 degrees and very humid and I needed to cool down. We all were outside swimming and actually had a good time! There's plenty of good seating throughout, flowers, pool seats you can take with you to float and sit on. Flowers are everywhere, and drinks were provided! Very well done on the pool area. It was actually a great way for all of us to relax. A lot of the ladies read books, did workouts or just had coffee and talked. The rooms were wonderful and cozy. Limited space in the room to put your stuff down, so there's that. I had a roommate and we got along just fine. Another ray of sunshine! The food was wonderful and we never went hungry. The major downside which I did not like? As the other posters said, the "frequent flyers" that come here are hard regulars. They're NOT a friendly group. I did talk to Tracy the hostess about it and told her hey, this is a thing here I guess. It's not awful but it kind of left a mark with me. It's not that it's clickesh or anything, but they just aren't friendly. Some are. Some are not. It made for awkward moments. I know I, the hostess or anyone else cannot tell people to be friends. I made friends with other people while here, but some of these people are literal pain in the butt. It would be nice if they had a mixer instead of everyone just sitting at their tables all the time, and maybe break up some of the tension at times. Will I come back? Probably, but I'd have to think twice first. I had a good time, the place is absolutely fabulous but I don't know. Most of the stuff was fun, lots to do, but again, the old ladies just kind of ruined everything.

Fabulous and helpful valet to bring in your luggage and supplies. The scrapbooking area is perfect with your own table. The rooms are adorable. Love the decor. The beds are so comfortable. Almost like stepping back in time to when life was simpler. Definitely has an old world charm. Can't say it's for everyone, especially if you like a more modern vibe. But if you're like us, this inn is like an oasis in a hectic world. This is only our first night here and I couldn't wait to write how I felt. Will check back at the end of our stay... So my wife and I are back home now, looking forward to visiting Chelsea and the Victorian House once again. This time without the distraction of a show we were attending. Our stay was fabulous, and Andy and Nancy made us feel truly at home and accommodated our unorthodox schedule. They also were able to acquire two front row tickets to a sold out play at the Purple Rose Theatre, a wonderful and memorable experience. Definitely worth looking into if you're staying. Also the Common Grill (hope that's right), around the corner, is fine dining at its best and anything but common. Would say they specialize in seafood. The fact that people drive up from Ohio to eat here should be an indicator of the quality of food. Breakfast at the Inn was superb as well, a delicious and healthy way to start the day. To wrap up, as I mentioned earlier, we can't wait to visit Chelsea again and stay at this charming bed and breakfast. And thank you to Andy and Nancy for making our stay so special.

Looking from the outside I didn't see anything extremely extraordinary but when I got to the room and looked closer, this is a step above. Whether boutique is the right name or not, I really liked this place! Checked in easily even two hours early, which was great, king size bed with lots of pillows, above standard linens, Starbucks, coffee, TV refrigerator the basics until you go to the bathroom. Took me a minute to look and see the details then when my eyes got focused first thing I noticed was a full sauna shower with overhead showerhead, jets coming from the back, extendable wand, Good sized with easy push button water jets. Then to the toilet! Full state of the art bidet toilet with heated seat, heated water, spray, dryer, temperature controls not your standard bathroom. This is a $3000 toilet lol. I'm getting one for my house! Then I look at the mirror and there are buttons with Bluetooth on off and on the ceiling, Bose stereo speakers that you can sync your phone to while you take a shower and listen to music. Have to say for a little over 200 bucks a night hotels I've stayed at in New York City for $400 may have had more room, but they didn't have amenities like this. This is an older looks like a family owned business, with plenty of conference rooms, and just those extra touches that told me this place was above and beyond. Then we had to Webster's restaurant for lunch and had another great experience.. Great service, we both had soup and salad with my colleague. Having the lobster bisque. I opted for the black bean soup of the day, which was fabulous! Lots of protein lots of flavor not your standard black bean soup. The walnut cranberry salad was perfect for my diet and the full menu was actually quite inviting. Went back out to work to see another. Client came back and decided to eat dinner here so we actually sat at the bar where we had a couple of cocktails, then looked at the menu, but once I was told prime rib was a specialty. I went ahead and opted for the 12 ounce prime rib, which came out perfectly rare to medium rare. My colleague got the ribeye also medium rare. Perfect, we had a escargot and some great short rib, stuffed pastry, and au jus, couldn't really reverse engineer it, but it was quite tasty. Full bar selection, excellent brands and great wine selection. Breakfast was a little pricey, but expected. Having recently had a heart attack. I opted for the overnight oats with apple and Greek yogurt while the other dish was the American breakfast with eggs hashbrowns sausage, the Works. This is fine, dining, tablecloths, servers are all spot on, front staff is cordial and friendly. Just not something you get at a Hilton or a Marriott that we typically stay at. Price points were a little higher, but have to say I was not only pleasantly surprised but very impressed. Being an older place. There's a lot of finished wood work, sitting areas that are nicely decorated. Personally, I loved it. The next time in the area, I will gladly come back and enjoy everything they have to offer here. I had my small 12 lb dog on the trip with me but explained to Jan that since no dogs were allowed, that my dog would continue staying with my sister at her cottage down the road. I went on to tell her how my dog loves my sister and she would be more than fine there. My dog never once stepped foot on her property. The experience once we arrived at the property was absolutely terrible. The property was in deplorable condition. Weeds had overtaken the 'walkway', the home was so dirty, windows were yellow! Curtains were dusty and filthy. The best part was the blood stained sheets on the bed. The house had an overwhelming smell of old & musty mixed with mothballs. So on top of the blood stained sheets on the bed, dried blood in the trashcan, the smell of musty and mothballs made my pregnant daughter in law sick. I immediately reached out to Jan and explained my concerns. Not only did she not return my text for a few hours, she accused me of not being forthcoming with who was going to be staying, accused me of having my dog on her property, and had the audacity to tell me she advertises the cottage as 'rustic', and as 'grandma's cottage' and if I wanted stainless steel and granite that I should've booked elsewhere. She never once took any accountability and lied to Airbnb trying to screw me out of my money. I would avoid doing any business whatsoever with Jan Davies. BEWARE!

The place is conveniently located and is almost on the 24 bus line that serves U-M. It is also very close to other lines (6 and 5). Briarwood Mall is close by as well. I am very grateful to Jan and Larry for showing me around Ann Arbor, being there for me when I needed an urgent ride, and helping me with my move. I understand that these are not standard services, but it is nice to have good neighbors when you are new to town. I am frankly puzzled by some of the comments on this site. They do not reflect my personal experience. I have nothing but praise for the place and the management. After all, having stayed there for 90+ days should count for something. Enough with the negativity! I would highly recommend Davies House Inn and I would definitely stay there again.

The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Kathy, our hostess, gave us a menu when we checked in so she knew exactly what we would eat for breakfast. Kathy's presentation was colorful and the food was delicious. The location was super close to Main Street and getting to central campus and the Big House was easy. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast if you need a good home base while visiting your students or coming in to go to a game.

The roasted mushroom & chipolini onion and roasted potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. My Mom had the chicken and she said it was also delicious. The cake after dinner and the appetizer late-night buffet were also delicious. Pizza, quesadillas and chips & salsa. Yum! Truly tasty treats. I was especially impressed by the service. They served the entire table quickly and everything was correct. The ballroom is gorgeous - it's a very old building, of course, so high, vaulted ceilings, wood floors, luxurious finishes. This is a motel in Dixboro. Even if you live in Ann Arbor you may not know that Dixboro is a town…read moreand not just a country road. But it's a quaint little town with a cafe, a couple of antique shops, an animal shelter, some houses, and this motel. The motel itself is rather old it seems, but it is very well maintained and continuously upgraded. The bathroom of my room was completely new and the heater was replaced while I was staying there. I stayed there for 4 weeks and I never had any problems. The lady who runs it is extremely nice, friendly, and helpful...though a little weird. Sh provided a mini-fridge, cleans the rooms, and generally makes sure your stay is comfortable. It's convenient to lots of places because it's not far from Ford Road, 23, and 14. It took me about 15 minutes to get to downtown Ann Arbor. There are super markets and other such things just down Plymouth road at Green Road, so even though it's in the middle of nowhere it's actually close to everything. I would definitely stay here again if I need to stay around Ann Arbor for a few weeks again. Nothing fancy, but everything I needed (accept internet, and the cell phone signal was sketchy sometimes).
