Apocalyptic. First room we were assigned smelled awful and was very dirty. Second room we were assigned was better - no smell, but dirty and infested with stink bugs. Over the course of two days, we killed two stink bugs and trapped another under a cup. Shower was cramped and felt like something designed for a 1980s spaceship. The room was nice and the locations was fine, but I would give zero stars for service if I could. On 2/12/2026 I booked my reservation through Choice Hotels for a stay on 2/19/2026. When I clicked on a link to view insurance options and decided against it the website (Again, Choice Hotels website) reset the dates of my stay to the current day (2/12/2026). I didn't realize this and I completed my reservation for the wrong date. I was then charged full price for a "no show". A few days late I contacted the hotel and left my information to see if there was any way they could help recover some or all of my funds. I was told if the general manager could help, she would reach out to me. That was over a month ago, so I'm fairly certain she's unwilling to help me. I also contacted the corporate office and was told due to their cancellation policy, they're unwilling to help either. I'm willing to accept some of the responsibility for this but I feel Choice Hotels should accept some of the blame here as well. They certainly CAN issue a form a monetary refund, they just know legally they don't have to. Their customer service is a joke. read more

We booked a room for a wedding event and had a medical complication. We attempted to cancel on a sold out weekend, but were told policy does not allow cancellations unless 72 hours in advance. I called 48 hours in advance. There was no attempt to reconcile or offer any kind of discounted fee. As a choice hotel member, I would have expected at least an offer of a reduced fee or gift card for a different stay. Very disappointing. read more

The whole experience was terrible, the staff was nice and accommodating we talked to Veronica. But the hotel itself is really rundown. The pool was filthy. The hot tub was down and not working paint chips coming off the ceiling and all over in the pool area and in the pool,the room carpet is old and dated tile has mold on it. Just not a very nice place anymore needs to be updated and fixed up. Plus the fitness room is pretty much not existence all broke down. read more

Yikes! This hotel is really bad. First word that comes to mind is depressing. First impression....elevator was really old. I think this hotel was built in 2001 and I don't think anyone has touched it since. We chose this hotel for the hot tub and guess what? There was yellow tape all around the empty tub. Someone should tell the hotel clerk because when we checked in we asked what time it closed and he said 10 or 11. Can't remember. Apparently the pool may have been open but all the lights were off in that area so I thought it best to skip it. I didn't trust it to be clean based on the other things I was seeing. The room was drab. There was a big stain on the carpet. Definitely did not feel clean. Bed was rock hard. I couldn't wait to check out of that place. The clerk told us breakfast was 6:30 to 7:30. I highly recommend never setting foot in this place. I am not kidding! read more

Probably never staying at a Comfort Inn again. They're always terrible. This one stunk of mildew and mold. The carpet was moist with filth. The curtain track was ripped off the ceiling. Our keys were deactivated every day so needed to go to the desk to get back in. The breakfast was blah, the waffle maker didn't seem to work, but an employee warned us about that, but I think it was just old batter. On a good note, the front desk ladies were great and provided great customer service, too bad whoever manages the building doesn't put as much care into the property. read more

Hotel room/suite was disgusting. Dirt all over bed linen, the sheet had holes in it and black stains. Door wouldn't lock, half the lights were broken and the tv was missing. Tried to call down to reception but the phone didn't work. Went downstairs and asked to be moved to another room. I was told that the door was ok as it was, there are no tvs in the suites and they can give me a clean sheet if I wanted. I pushed a little and the swapped my room for one that was a little cleaner, had a tv )albeit a broken one) and the door locked. I used the vending machine and it gave me the wrong type of soda. Reception told me they couldn't refund me and to call the number on the machine. Then took the soda and said they would drink it if I wasn't going to. Got back upstairs to an alert on my credit card to over $60 worth of charges from the same soda vending machine. Battling with my CC company to be refunded. Next day there's an out of order note on the vending machine, Overall the hotel is dirty, dated and the staff just don't care...stay elsewhere read more

staff was awesome. that's about it. peeling paint everywhere, hottub broken, pool was ice cold and dirty. exercise room is a joke. nothing worked. the entire place needs a good cleaning carpet is very old and dirty. kinda smelly. elevator is old and wreaked of smoke. furniture and decor is very outdated. the breakfast buffet is free and ok. we had an in room jacuzzi and it was ok. the best part of the room. sheets and bedding was clean. windows in the entire place needs a twice over. place was built in 2001 and looks a lot older. close to access to highways and restaurants and shopping. read more

I don't know what kind of room others stayed in to give this hotel anything other than 1-3 stars. I checked in and the room seemed fine with exception to the jacuzzi that doesn't appear welcoming. Then...during my shower I noticed the floor area and toilet area. The bathroom light burned out during my shower. After walking to the front desk the receptionist started that the maintenance man only works during the day but she can possibly find a ladder if I want do change the bulb myself. $100+ per night and I get to change a bulb. No ladder and no bulb in the maintenance room. The receptionist makes me feel as though I'm imposing on her. Shame on me. I belong to CHOICE HOTELS and I will say this is the last time I will stay at a comfort in. I could get the same room in the Philippines for half the price without the attitude of the receptionist. She sensed my dissatisfaction and offered another room. I'll repack and move to another dirty room? Nah. I took a light from the bed side and am using it in the bathroom. I have more to say but it will fall on deaf ears. I ride a motorcycle coast to coast 2-3 times a year and I had issues in Alabama with Comfort Inn. Never again. read more

If you value cleanliness, you don't want to stay here. I've stayed at this hotel a few time in the past 10 years. I will no longer. It seems the drapes haven't been cleaned since they've been hung. Dropped a pen and moved the bed to find dirt and debris. I had to leave the pen in fear something would bit me on retrieval. We were greeted by the dead flies in the bathroom!! Plus, you will want to bring your own bath towels as theirs smell and are as soft as card board. read more

This was a huge disappointment. the phones did not work...filthy dirty too. rooms 303 and 305..... we checked in, changed our clothes and went to a wedding... came back and room 305 reeked of marijuana..no smell in hall way..just in our room...also the smoke detector in 305 was gone..ripped out of the ceiling. we had kids with us..we did not want them smelling this. Management came up...nothing they can do about it....someone had to come in our room when we were gone!!! Management said it could not be one of their employees they don't even smoke cigarettes ?? This hotel is not very expensive, and it shows. While the staff were all very friendly, the hotel itself is in need of a lot of improvements. The carpeting and wallpaper were peeling, and the bathtub squeaked very loudly while I was trying to take a shower. The springs in the armchairs, both in the room and in the hotel lobby, were worn down such that you sank into them whenever you sat down. You get the picture. The building itself it fairly nice, but when you run a place that's as well-trafficked as a hotel, you really need to take better care of it. I didn't feel like our room was cleaned very well each day. The cleaning staff just ended up throwing the comforter over the whole bed instead of making it properly. The bathroom didn't seem to have been cleaned the entire 3 days we were there. Our first night here, I saw a cockroach scuttling along the floor in the bathroom. The hotel does have complimentary breakfast, but after the third day I grew pretty tired of the instant egg mix and microwaved bacon, and had a strong yearning to go home to some real food. read more

This place has gone down hill, growing up in Chelsea I've spent quite a bit of time here. The hot tub has been "down" for months...while their website still says it's operational. You aren't informed of that either when making a reservation nor planning a birthday party. We requested a suite that claimed to have its own hot tub, however it's actually just a jacuzzi tub, that didn't even have enough hot water to fill. While having to sign a notice saying we acknowledge our room was pet free- we found dog food on the floor and several pieces of trash indicating it hadn't been cleaned properly, considering it's the most expensive room you'd think it would have been cleaned better. Not to mention a broken side entrance door with caution tape and a heavy winter breeze coming through that seems to have been ignored for weeks. It's as though corporate has left his hotel behind, which is unfortunate because of how it once was great. read more

We just got back from a couple days at comfort inn in chelsea Michigan. This was the worst experience and they have the nerve to charge high prices. Everyone that works there is miserable and overworked. This place needs to be closed down until they are properly staffed. read more

Jules and I headed up to this Comfort Inn for a long weekend at another gaming convention--the Protospiel design event in Chelsea. First up, I certainly can't complain about the rates. We were given a Protospiel special rate, which allowed us to get a King-bed room with a jacuzzi tub for the same rate as a basic twin setup. Awesome indeed! The concierges at the desk during our two night stay were cordial and all-around helpful. They assisted me with printing when I needed some feedback sheets for my game, as well as with a few other minor issues. Our room was neat and clean, with clear instructions for the jacuzzi and a wonderful array of pillows. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were wonderful; the pool and hot tub were open until midnight, which allowed us some great ability to relax after a few long days of travel and gaming. If I had any complaints about the hotel, it might be that the shower was just a touch cramped (especially with the relative size of the bathroom), and that the A/C unit seemed a little slow to respond. By and large, though, these were minor quibbles. I'm already looking forward to another trip up for next year's Protospiel! read more

I can't remember his name but he looked just like Santa Claus. He was so friendly and told us all about Chelsea, MI. He actually made me want to go back just to explore the small town. A business conference can either be a success or a flop in part depending upon the facility and the staffing level and expertise. I must compliment the Comfort Inn on the service provided at a recent event. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were well-maintained, food was well-prepared. Banquet food can occasionally be a disappointment but our dinner was delicious! Definitely would recommend this location and invite other small to medium-size groups to check it out. read more

Went to the Comfort Inn for a 3 day conference and was very impressed with the quality of the room, the conference center, and the food. They do not have a restaurant, but they do have a chef that prepares buffet line food for conference attendees. I must say that the food was a highlight and I must give the highest rating to the staff that prepared it. This was an excellent choice for the conference as the entire staff was very good at hospitality and customer service. read more

I was here on Dec 7th for my husbands company Christmas party. The banquet food was good, the staff was a less than attentive. The hotel was really a disappointment though. An entire block of rooms was reserved and we opted for a king jacuzzi room for the discounted rate of 100 dollars. The room itself was fine and the jacuzzi tub was fairly large. The problem is the room had paper thin walls . I woke up multiple times to doors being closed and staff in the hallway yelling about cleaning this room and that. By 8 am sleep was not to be had. Kids talking in the next room , I could hear every word. The most disappointing thing was the breakfast was only available till 10 and when we went to it at 9;55 not knowing breakfast was only till 10 the waffle mixes had been put away and it seemed that the lady running the breakfast was going to be givin a prize for how quickly she could put away everything. When she informed us that breakfast was only till 10 she was rude and clearly irritated that we had asked at all. read more

I recently spent three evenings at the Comfort Inn in Chelsea, Mi. Although the room and the lobby were nice, the walls between rooms are paper thin. I wish I had read Angela D's review. I also could hear every word a child in the next room was saying. And this kid started talking and yelling at 5am. The breakfast was good, only served to 9:30am and with the server clearing food before 9:30am. If you are a heavy, heavy sleeper, then staying here may be pleasant. read more

Yes, it is a typical Comfort Inn and the air conditioning turns off during the night which is quite uncomfortable BUT . .they have one of the best front desk people I've encountered in all my years of travel. "Norm" could not be more welcoming, helpful and overall delightful. Makes me choose this hotel every time I visit Chelsea. read more
