Breakfast.

Yikes! This hotel is really bad. First word that comes to mind is depressing. First impression....elevator was really old. I think this hotel was built in 2001 and I don't think anyone has touched it since. We chose this hotel for the hot tub and guess what? There was yellow tape all around the empty tub. Someone should tell the hotel clerk because when we checked in we asked what time it closed and he said 10 or 11. Can't remember. Apparently the pool may have been open but all the lights were off in that area so I thought it best to skip it. I didn't trust it to be clean based on the other things I was seeing. The room was drab. There was a big stain on the carpet. Definitely did not feel clean. Bed was rock hard. I couldn't wait to check out of that place. The clerk told us breakfast was 6:30 to 7:30. I highly recommend never setting foot in this place. I am not kidding!

Dirty bed linen

Hotel room/suite was disgusting. Dirt all over bed linen, the sheet had holes in it and black stains. Door wouldn't lock, half the lights were broken and the tv was missing. Tried to call down to reception but the phone didn't work. Went downstairs and asked to be moved to another room. I was told that the door was ok as it was, there are no tvs in the suites and they can give me a clean sheet if I wanted. I pushed a little and the swapped my room for one that was a little cleaner, had a tv )albeit a broken one) and the door locked. I used the vending machine and it gave me the wrong type of soda. Reception told me they couldn't refund me and to call the number on the machine. Then took the soda and said they would drink it if I wasn't going to. Got back upstairs to an alert on my credit card to over $60 worth of charges from the same soda vending machine. Battling with my CC company to be refunded. Next day there's an out of order note on the vending machine, Overall the hotel is dirty, dated and the staff just don't care...stay elsewhere

Bugs

TERRIBLE!! my credit card was compromised, filth, bugs,no screens in the windows and the furniture in the room was disgusting .If there were any other place to stay in the area I would have checked out immediately.Run from this place and don't look back!

I don't know what kind of room others stayed in to give this hotel anything other than 1-3 stars. I checked in and the room seemed fine with exception to the jacuzzi that doesn't appear welcoming. Then...during my shower I noticed the floor area and toilet area. The bathroom light burned out during my shower. After walking to the front desk the receptionist started that the maintenance man only works during the day but she can possibly find a ladder if I want do change the bulb myself. $100+ per night and I get to change a bulb. No ladder and no bulb in the maintenance room. The receptionist makes me feel as though I'm imposing on her. Shame on me. I belong to CHOICE HOTELS and I will say this is the last time I will stay at a comfort in. I could get the same room in the Philippines for half the price without the attitude of the receptionist. She sensed my dissatisfaction and offered another room. I'll repack and move to another dirty room? Nah. I took a light from the bed side and am using it in the bathroom. I have more to say but it will fall on deaf ears. I ride a motorcycle coast to coast 2-3 times a year and I had issues in Alabama with Comfort Inn. Never again.

She knows her way around so please feel welcomed to ask her for directions. Her cozy abode is quirky at first but you'll be drawn by the deep passion this lady has for these knickknacks. Home is well furnished: community bathroom, community kitchen, 3 bedrooms, and dining room (red room) for breakfast. Very clean and full of color. She cooks a pretty good "eggs in a basket" dish that's a scramble of eggs, asparagus, almonds, cranberries, and chicken/asiago cheese sausages. Croissant (so good!), coffee, tea, and orange juice is also available. She's very accommodating so don't be afraid to ask. The only issues we came across were the extra soft beds and fleece sheets that may be uncomfortable for some. Room's aren't too spacious but enough to house two people comfortably (but who stays in on a vacation?). She does have cats but they stay in her room and may roam in the breakfast area. I'm allergic to cats but they were not a problem for me at all. Please do keep the library bed and breakfast in mind the next time you come to Ann Arbor as her price is comparable and she'll make your experience a pleasurable memory!

The owner, Joan Knoertzer, indicated that she was late for an appointment, but asked for a minute, then came back and told us to come by anyway! We arrive to a non-description residence covered with grapevines and trees on Mary Street, just off the busy corner of Packard and State. You could almost throw a rock and hit the Athletic Administration building we were so close! We parked on the street and walked up the curving steps to warmly greeted by a wonderful lady decked out in full Maize and Blue. This was just the beginning, as we entered which could best described as a bibliophile paradise crossed with a museum to all things Ann Arbor/ U of M. Climbing the steps, you first encounter the Poetry and Mystery Rooms, followed by a full Pullman kitchen and sitting area. If your into Ann Arbor's past, you'll find two great hanging lights from the old Pretzel Bell Restaurant, surrounded by books of all types. Last is the Tiny Book Room, which is filled with - you guessed it - tiny books. We had a great dinner later than night at Melting Pot (review forthcoming) and went to bed early and slept great. We woke up the next morning to amazing smells coming from downstairs, where we and another couple were greeted to fresh coffee, OJ, homemade pumpkin bread and pumpkin butter! This was followed by a fruit course and an amazing quiche. Mixed with a wonderful conversation, we felt like we were totally at home. Even the three cats, Kipling, Cinnamon and, well, I forget the third, treated us well. We then spent the next hour talking about everything books - we just didn't want to leave! Trust me, there is no better place to stay in AA, especially for the price and the food. Try it, you won't be sorry!

Never again. I wish…read moreI could leave negative Stars purely on the treatment from management and ethics. To be fair there are some good points but I guess I will address those first number one the Ambiance is very nice if you like history an old architecture it's worth popping in if you are near nearby. I will also say that I am pretty critical on my coffee but it appears the coffee portion of this restaurant has its own name and I will write an extremely positive review accordingly as the coffee was some of the best I've ever had. That being said the rest of the experience was negative. We should have known something walking in when we saw what appeared to be two other local couples going to the cute little restaurant next door which looked reasonably busy and when we went in there's only one other couple there. That should have been a red flag. But it looks so quaint and Charming we wanted to try it. Her breakfast was fair but it's hard to mess up whipped cream and strawberries LOL you'd almost have to be pure evil not to like the combination LOL. My breakfast however was a disappointing experience say the least.... let me preface this with the fact that I have a pretty decent barometer 4 brisket as my buddies and I smoke brisket all the time and have been in some competitions. That being said for approximately $14 for breakfast skillet that better be some damn good brisket. And it wound up being very rubbery!!! and just taste it off like it had been sitting out forever.!!! On top of that after taking only one bite decided to send it back and the waitress could not care less and took $3 off the bill ....? basically you're telling me I ate $11 worth of Skillet after I told you to come back and have the chef taste it please!!!!!!!????? it was like it was microwaved from the previous night The sauce on it was like knock off ketchup packets or should i say katsup! Lol Rude and discourteous to say the least I'm sorry the Ambiance is great and the coffee was actually one of the best cups I ever had but to charge for food that I wouldn't even give our dogs!! just wrong and then to not even care about it no.!! We saw everyone going next door and wondered why some place so large had such little business. Now we know why all the locals were going next door and why a restaurant next to a restaurant still survives. After you eat here you will be eating next door also.
