i made a service request to repair my furnace because of no-heat in my home when it was 5 degrees outside. I didn't receive a response.

We have used Combined Energy for over 20 years. They installed a furnace for us when we first purchased our home. When we put on an addition, they installed all the new piping. Jan 1st we get a bill for $229 because we didn't use enough fuel this year because of the warm weather. Looks to me like their sales are down so we have to make up the difference. I guess loyal customers mean nothing to them. Time to find a new propane supplier. My wife called the office and spoke to Myra. She refused to remove the surcharge. In 2022 we used 530 gal and in 2021we used 553 gal. read more

What started as a leak from the chimney chase into one of our bedrooms morphed into us deciding to replace the oil furnace with propane and remove the chimney. We were already CES customers so we discussed our options with Jim and Paul and decided to not only replace the oil furnace with a propane system but also replace our 300-gal propane tank with a 1,000-gal tank. CES removed the old tank, backfilled the hole, and buried the new 1,000 gal tank and then the bonus was they removed the old 2 x 330 gal oil tanks from the basement at no additional cost. The changeover could not have been easier or more professionally handled by Jim, Tom, Chris, Ed, and others whose names I didn't record. They worked quickly and cleanly and were most pleasant to be around and most importantly they spent the time to set up my Nest Thermostats with me. I could not have asked for more. What a great team. They say a fish rots from the head but the converse is also true. This team worked so well together and so professionally that I must give credit to the management of CES for instilling these professional values into their teams and allowing them to shine. I have no hesitation in recommending CES for any propane requirements. read more

This is the worst company to deal with. Excuses, lies and total incompetence! Quick to bill, never fixing the problem. New installation, forget the estimate. Once they have your card on file they bill whatever and when ever they want. Chris is full of excuses and never gets back. Billed my card $485 when no one came to my house. Billed for a full tank in April, only hook up was for a stove that was not used until October due to kitchen renovations with NO OUTLET! And a fire place not used until November. 100 Gallons used???? Excuse was my pilot light. The delivery person couldn't light the pilot light. So another tech was sent only to tell me the delivery tech turned the fireplace switch off.... my entire day was utilized by this company's service incompetence, then I WAS BILLED ANOTHER $182.81 because the first guy was clueless! Not my problem! NOW December 12th my tank is empty!!!! I have oil heat, electric dryer and I cooked 1 meal! I'm one person, not a family. 200 gallons used since April???? Either you lie about your amount delivered or there is a leak you chose to ignore because it's more profitable to bill me! I'll be contacting my township because when installed the inspection failed for a leak. How did it suddenly pass? I'll also be contacting the NJ Board of Utilities. All this company cares about is charging, not about fixing the problem. Stay clear! Save yourself days off from work to wait and hope for a resolution that never happens, but your credit card charged for their time. Time for me to call an attorney! read more

I have gone into this business many times to pay my bills and ask questions, etc. I actually will go out of my way to pay by bill there rather than mail it. I have always dealt with the same woman. My experience with this company has been extremely poor. They came out to give me a quote, which was reasonable, and then for 15 days gave me the run around to set a date for install. At that point they told me 2-3 weeks. I called Hellers the same day and they set an install appointment for 1 week later. I recommend you give them a call. read more

Really didn't want to contact CES for air conditioning service, so I was glad when they said they only provide that service for their heating fuel customers. I used to get my propane from them, but when they started charging me a yearly fee because I didn't use enough propane, I decided to switch companies. CES came and took away the old tank, which was nearly full at the time, but never refunded the money I'd paid for the propane inside of it. read more

In my own personal experience, there is nothing overly exceptional about their service. Paul, their customer rep I dealt with, sells the service with some nice flair, but I quickly found that reality is slightly different from what they market. They present themselves as a wonderful family owned business with more intimacy for customers than a corporate owned company, but some of the service is comparable to that anyway for a portion of their customers. If you are one of their Call for Delivery customers, you learn pretty quickly, that you are low on their priority list. No biggie, I just want propane, not dinner and a show. I had asked initially for my tanks to be painted to better match my house, which they did, however it was explained to me that they put the first coat on, but due to them trying to provide me with my new tanks asap, they hadn't put the second coat on, but that someone could come out and do that on site eventually and I wouldn't even have to be home. Perfect. It's been 2 years and a few inquiries later and I'm still waiting for that second coat. I monitor my tanks very closely, always call them when they are no more or less than 30%, as per their request. At first, when I was in their new customer promotional deal for the first initial year, they were pretty quick on the draw with deliveries from the day I called. Usually they were out in around 3-4 days. I am aware that standard for them is 5-7, understandably, and as the second year came on, the deliveries became much closer to that. Again, no worries, that's fine with me. I have also noticed, that dependent upon which receptionist you get when you call in, the pre-authorization amount for a call delivery can vary wildly...which can be a teeny bit frustrating. Last month was my first call for the winter season. I called on Nov. 20th, tanks at 30%. By Nov. 29th, they hadn't arrived, and I called again, asking for an ETD. I was told due to the holiday, they were starting a bit late that Friday, but was assured that they'd be there by the evening. By Wed, Dec. 4th, they still hadn't made a delivery, and I called again to inquire when they thought they'd be out. This time, I was suddenly put on hold, then told that once they could get a hold of dispatch, they'd call back. They seemed a bit panicked and asked what the tanks were reading. I dare say I heard a smidge of relief when I told them the tanks were at 20% (when I call them, I'm aware it can take a week or longer, (you have to exclude weekend days), so I turn down my heat to about 55 and use my electric heaters). It's now the morning of Friday Dec. 6th. They haven't gotten here yet, though they have said they'd be out by the end of this week. I think my only issue is that I'm a stickler for "keeping it real". Don't sell me the fairytale, just give it to me straight, including the "customer pecking order", every business has them no matter how subtle...it's how you earn my respect. So, like I said, in my personal opinion, nothing overly exceptional about them, they are essentially just like "everyone else" for me, personally. I'm sure that they are more than wonderful for many of their customers. read more

On March 7 , 2020, Combined charged my account $26.00. (This trigggered an overdraft of $70.00.). Upon contacting them I discovered that this was just a part of a fee they were charging me of $200.00 and some dollars for a underuse fee, meaning I did not buy enough propane from them this winter. I paid combined 525.00 in Feb in cash for a propane delivery. My tank only held $300.00 dollars or so leaving me a credit of 179.00 toward my fee charge, in addition to the 26.00 deduction. Instead of using my credit to put propane in the tank Combined chose to keep this money for their fee. My tank is now at 35%. I am on a fixed income and was waiting for my check to get more propane. By adding a hundred dollars or so I was going to order a delivery. I have no signed contract with Combined allowing them to take or keep my money but I have no recourse. I've tried calling but they are unsympathetic and they are in their eyes the right one. I don't know what I'll do now. I don't know if they plan to charge my account for anything else. I am on disability and my husband is retired on oxygen 24/7. We don't qualify for heat assistance and my father had given us the money for the original $525.00 payment we made. I don't think this company is a generous as they are trying to sound. read more

Me and my husband had fallen into a rough patch. My husband broke his leg and I was out on disability with a new born. Well needless to say it was a little crazy and we wound up running out of propane. We call them and tell them we have a new born and a 2 year old with no heat and hot water. Combined energy service tells us there going to wack us with a 75$ fee for letting the tank run out and because we can't afford to do the minimal fill which is 125 or 150 gallons we could only afford 90 at this time there going to wack us with the remaining cost for the minimal fill. The lady puts us on hold and comes back and says I spoke with the owner of the company and I'm really sorry but there's nothing we can do for you at this time. So now she hangs up and we still don't have propane to hear the house or hot water. Thank god for electric stoves and fireplaces. Thanks for leaving my family in the cold with no hot water. Do not use this company. They don't care about anyone's well being, just money in their wallets. read more
