    Gravity Lab

Even though we only climbed for about 2 hours, it was worth it. Our kids were tired by 1-1.5 hours. Perhaps other climbers go for a longer time but 1.5 hours would be more than enough time to have some great climbs. Our visit to Gravity Lab was our kids' first time climbing/bouldering. It had been on their bucket list. We arrived later in the night and Luke from the front desk greeted us. He was very informative from the costs, what to expect as far as how the rental climbing shoes should fit (aka they should be tight), and provided us powder for our kids to take around in a sac. Luke then gave us a tour of the facility. He informed us on the different levels of climbing and where our kids could start. He also focused a lot on the safety of properly falling, how to connect themselves to the clips to aid climb (not belay but not sure what it's called), etc. Luke also took time to coach our children whenever he had a moment. He was working the front desk, helping other customers, cleaning the place, etc. Gravity Lab got lucky with such a great employee and face of the company. He was patient and descriptive when he encouraged our kids. He cared and I think that's what made our experience so amazing at Gravity Lab. He also helped our kids with the belay and gave them confidence to make it to the top of the more difficult paths. Gravity Lab was clean, organized, and brightly lit. The other customers were welcoming and kind to us. Our kids and the other climbers all kept out of each other's paths on the wall. The restrooms were up kept and neat. I can appreciate that as someone who is a bit OCD. In addition to the above compliments I have written above, I think it's important to note that this place is not only a great place for adults and those advanced in climbing skills. We witnessed some experienced climbers accomplish some amazing skills. But Gravity Lab is equally perfect for children and even children like ours who have no experience. As you can see in our videos, our son made it to the top of one of the crack climbs with the guidance of Luke; and our daughter, who had been encouraged by Luke on what she could improve on, and she made it to the top with bouldering. Gravity Lab also resets their paths every week for different walls. You won't be tired of their gym! Oh I forgot to mention the building is two stories in certain areas; they have yoga and a weight lifting section. Thanks to our experience of Gravity Lab, our kids want to continue climbing at our local climbing gym. We are from California and visited Durango, Colorado. Looks like we'll be doing that. Thanks for the memories Gravity Lab and thanks for your exceptional customer service Luke. You made our first experience climbing a very memorable one.

There seemed to be an area for yoga too and some nights they have Latin nights. We really enjoyed coming here!

I'd already assumed he was busy and content while there because even though he had his phone with him, I hardly heard from him in that time. His session was a good variety of about 17 kids, pretty evenly split between boys and girls, from all around the US. I believe they learned a lot from nice instructors/guides and had fun, too. From a parent point of view, I thought the communication from Crow Canyon was terrific- not incessant but informative, clear, and timely. We were hopeful that it would be a good experience for our son, and neither of us was disappointed in the least- we are so glad he went!

Beaver Creek is dedicated to promoting Christian Education, recreation, and social welfare of youth and adults regardless of race or disability and is open to all denominations. I stayed here recently as part of an Earthwatch Expedition titled: Geology and the Landscaping of the American Southwest. We were treated as honoured guests by Jen and Ernie and I came away very impressed, and thinking that their summer camp might be a good experience for my son. The food was plentiful and amazingly good, and our stay in the all-season Berkstresser Lodge was almost luxurious by summer camp standards. The bunk beds (with foam mattress) were comfortable and having a nice hot shower at the end of a long work day was a welcome treat. There's also a catering kitchen, laundry machines, decent conference room space, and if you're lucky a sweet "guard" dog named Tigger. I also enjoyed admiring Fall's yellow Aspens, watching the stars at night, hearing the coyotes during our sleep, appreciated that coffee was available at 6 AM, and welcomed occasional Internet access. However, when you're out here in G-d's country, what's the point of wi-fi? I would highly recommend the Beaver Creek Youth Camp for your next group function. For this Earthwatch group, this facility met and exceeded our expectations. The grounds are also spacious, pretty, relaxing, and maybe just the thing you need to put your life's work into perspective.
