I come here every Thursday and Friday afternoon with my special needs buddy Grant, and I'm always so impressed with the service. George, Tony, Tyler and Owen are super nice, friendly, and conversational. Owen even remembers our shoe sizes and has them ready when we walk in the door! Owen and George specifically are our homies. The lanes, tables, seating areas, and bathrooms are all sterile and spotless. We never go anywhere else. This is our bowling home. Keep up the great work. One thing I would recommend would be updating the vending machines so that they accept card payments, so more people could access them, because less and less people nowadays carry cash. First time here, early afternoon on a Monday. Was easy to get a lane for myself to practice after many years of not bowling. Staff very helpful and friendly, was only going to reserve for an hour and they said if I reserved for 2 hours it would cost a lot less! I have bowled on and off at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace for years. It used to open be 24 hours, but due to the Pandemic it now open certain hours. I have enjoyed bowling there and this year for Franklin County Special Olympics bowling practice. It is 64 lanes, the largest in Central Ohio. There are some chairs that need to be reupholstered. They have done a great job updating the facilities over the years. It did host PBA tournaments in 1980's on NBC and ABC. The Columbus Square Bowling Palace is the Country Club of Bowling Centers and a great place to bowl for fun or league bowling. read more

False advertising. They advertise a Sunday bowling special between 9am-noon for "any 2 hour block". The special implies that as long as you get there and pay by noon, you can bowl for 2 hours for $15. The lady at the counter today told me that you have to be there by 10 am to get the full 2 hours, and if you get there any time after 10 am, you don't get the full 2 hours and it cuts off at noon, which makes zero sense. She was either wrong about the special, or they are false advertising and want to get people in the door to charge them $9/game. read more

Palace Lanes is very spacious beside the food being okay there pro shop has a variety of excellent bowling balls. It used to be open for 24 hours but now have regular hours. It's a good place for families and small groups to hangout and kill some time. The Leagues are also not as bad as well. read more

This place is open 24-hours! Love the thought that you can go bowling at 3:00 AM. There is always open bowling available. They have a small arcade you can win prizes at. They have a bar and food. A pro shop. This place has it all! They offer specials like unlimited bowling for 3-hour time frames. I usually go during these specials and can get about six games in with friends. My fingers and muscles start to hurt before the time ends. There are usually plenty of lanes and it doesn't feel overly crowded. read more

Got together with other Yelpers to go bowling and what a great night we had together! We got to meet Bill, the owner of the place, and he came out to greet us and give us a little history of his business and welcome us to his establishment. We enjoyed some delicious pizza (cheese, veggie, and meat pizza) and drinks and, of course, bowling! I asked Bill if he would bring out the bowling ball rail, which is normally for kids, but I thought it would be fun to bring that out since it didn't seem that anybody was familiar with it. We had fun putting our ball on the rail and letting it go a whopping 5 mph down the lane only to bounce off the pins or fall into the gutter. My group bowled 4 games each, and used muscles we didn't know we had! The bowling alley is very clean and has lots of lanes and great lighting. I loved the digital boards to keep track of the scores. We used the intercom a few times due to some user errors, and the people working there were very prompt and fixed the problems right away. I really like how the bowling balls were all in a central location with a color guide on the different weights of the balls. That made finding a ball super easy, and while bowling, the color of your ball was easy to locate. We had a great time! read more

For the price, GREAT deal! Open 24 hours as well which serves as a huge bonus. For a Friday night, it cost my group of 4 under $40 for shoe rental and bowling for an hour ($6 an hour and $3 shoe rental per person). We were able to get in right away since there are so many lanes here, 64!! However, not in the nicest location. I did not experience any troubles, but knowing the area have heard of all kinds of incidences happening. No issues with cleanliness or disorganization. Love that there is a local 24hr bowling alley. This place is 24 hours, so it definitely gives you something to do. The shoes aren't as creepy as I remember. Our lane kept freezing - mainly our balls kept getting stuck. The staff was very accommodating with fixing it, and ultimately changing our lane as a result, but it was very annoying to deal with. Bowling Palace reminded me of a neighborhood type bowling alley. In that there are nice staff, decent drink and bowling specials, lots of lanes, and open 24-7 before the pandemic. Though I do ish that they would rotate new balls in as the majority of their balls are scratched and chipped. But I do suppose if one comes here a lot then they could bring their own ball. read more

We enjoy coming here every now and again for a fun date afternoon. Neither of us are good bowlers but we have fun! CSB has tons of lanes, and maybe it's because of the time of day we go, but we've often felt like the only ones there. You can rent shoes for a fee and borrow balls for free. There's a snack stand with the aforementioned pizza and soda, plus beer options. There's also a smaller sized arcade where your babies can play for small prizes {we're particularly proud of a plastic Dino we won once}. Our biggest issue is bowling is EXPENSIVE. It certainly isn't bringing in a crowd based on what we've seen, and yet we've never spent less than $40 for an afternoon of fun. read more

Nice modern equipment and plenty of lanes means open bowling is easy to find a lane. They charge more per game than other nearby places, but they have good weekday rates where you can bowl as much as you want for a couple hours. They do a good job on lane maintenance and the place is very clean with lots of parking. read more

Went on a Saturday evening with 4 big kids and my youngest for his 12th birthday. Grabbing a lane and shoes was quick and we were assigned a lane. Total cost for my youngest and I to bowl 2 games and shoes was $25. We were there for several hours having a great time. The facility seems very clean and organized and the staff was really nice. Went down to order a drink from the little café in there and it was too pricey. I like that it is 24 hrs so we are planning our next trip back. read more

I was looking for a place to host a 50-year-old birthday party and I had called several other locations about hosting a party. Most places quoted me over $1000. Columbus Square Bowling Palace offered me five dollars a person and free shoes. I put my card on file once I arrived and most people paid me or they paid up front. We had six lanes and a great time. We were able to bring in our own cake and even offered some to the police officers that were also there. The bartender was excellent and we enjoyed the snack bar, though the men at the snack bar did not have much interest in waiting on people and often stopped to talk to other people while others were waiting in line. This tried-and-true bowling alley has tons of things going for it! Starting it off big-time style: Open 24/7! What?! Yep. Since opening up shop in 1983, this bowling palace is open all year round (minus the early closing on Christmas Day, I believe the manager/third-generation-son explained)! The son also explained they're all about the customer; and they love suggestions! There's plenty of parking. Two CPD cops are on patrol during the weekends to keep an eye on things inside and add an extra feeling of security. Doesn't smell like smoke! Great lighting. Lots of tables and seating. Plenty of balls. Good condition shoes. Lots of lanes. Relaxed atmosphere! We feasted on Palazzo Pizza, the Palace's own personal restaurant inside. When I was a kid, this was THE place you wanted have your birthday party, and where all your friends wanted to have their birthday parties. Now that I'm older, it looks...almost exactly the same. A seemingly endless vista of alleys greets you as you walk in the door, while the staff in the large central island will take your money for a lane and shoe rentals. There's a "grill" serving up pizza, subs, burgers, and lots of fried goods, and two bars - one apparently remodeled at some point into a tropical theme, and the other a bit more old school. There's a video arcade at the middle of the alley (it seemed larger when I was a kid, but I'm honestly not sure if that's true, or simply the haze of memory), and a surprisingly deep pro shop. The open bowling rates are a bit high compared to other alleys in town, but the beauty of the Palace is that it is ALWAYS open. It is the only 24/7/365 bowling alley in Columbus - hell, it might be the only one in the entire midwest. They don't close for holidays. They don't close for weather. They don't close for maintenance. The bombs will fall, roaches will inherit the earth, and as the shellshocked survivors make their way out of their bomb shelters and vaults, someone will still be sitting at the desk in the Palace, ready to give them a pair of hideously coloured size 10s and set them up on lane 16. If you ARE of the late night persuasion, and you want to roll, there's good news: They start offering discounted rates for anyone coming in after midnight, and anyone bowling between 3am-8am can get three hours of unlimited bowling for $5. A true story: Back about eight years ago, I was stuck in Columbus due to weather and flight delays on Thanksgiving, while the rest of my family was out at relatives'. I needed a place to eat. I called a few friends who were similarly stuck in town, and after some investigation we concluded the only thing open was The Palace. 15 minutes later, we had ordered a couple of pizzas and were setting up to roll. As some have mentioned, 161 and Cleveland is no longer a "prime" part of town, and sometimes the clientele can get a little sketchy, but I've never had any major problems here. This is not a bad place to bowl. It might be stuck in the 80's a bit. Everything about the place is fine, but nothing special. Their weekday lunch deal is pretty solid, $10 for lunch and two games of bowling w/ shoes. I like the value there if you are able to go during the week. The venue is pretty kid friendly, and it was darn near empty on a Wednesday. It was pretty gross to see an employee with a giant dip (tobacco) in his mouth. Is that even legal? The food was just okay. Grilled cheese was good, but fries were not great. And what's up with no free refills? So, it's certainly not a bad spot to bowl, but I'm not dying to go back. Would it be too much trouble to move a rack or two of bowling balls so you don't have to walk the entire length of the place if you are bowling over by the pro shop? read more

The Palace is a nice facility, but I often feel like just a number here but the bar was great back when I used to hang here more. The alleys are fine, but I think there are better places in Columbus and I have experienced way better. Watching tournaments here just sucks. There was not near enough seating and they constantly reminded people to stand near the back where I could not see my kid if you had to stand. There ARE better houses here in Columbus. This is bowling at it's classiest. I bet 30 years ago this place really was the Palace of bowling. I love the classic seating and overall lounge style of the place. Being that it's open 24/7 makes it always an option for something to do. The prices are so-so. A little higher than HP Lanes. The house balls are dirty and I wouldn't recoomend rubbing your eye after you've used ones. The shoes are standard. Not the grossest I've seen. The staff is pretty efficient and they have a heavy handed bar tender if you like stiff mixed drinks. Their drink specials aren't that special. In the end, I would choose HP Lanes over the Palace, but the Palace isn't so bad :) read more

I've bowled at the Palace recreationally and am also a first-year league bowler with them as well. The Palace is a pretty awesome bowling alley, and probably one of the best ones that I have visited. It's open 24/7, so you can go bowling whenever you wish. First off, it is an older bowling alley (furniture, pinspotters, etc.) but it's been well-maintained and has does have newer automatic scoring systems (Brunswick). The lanes and bowl returns appear to have been recently replaced. So the center is old, but not old in a bad way... Maybe in a vintage way. The bar is well stocked and well-staffed. Patrick has typically worked on the nights we bowled, and he goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. He also makes the best margarita I have ever tasted. The bar prices are reasonable. The snack bar/restaurant is pretty good. While the pizza is awesome, I think the chicken tenders (with honey mustard) and fries are the best thing on the menu. The Palace's fried mushrooms are worth a try as well. For those complaining about how expensive the Palace is, I would suggest calling ahead or checking out their website for their daily and weekly specials. If you are welling to go a little later, or a little earlier than peak time, you may be able to find some great deals. While some may not consider 161 and Cleveland to be the 'best' area, the Palace does have a well-lit parking lot and visible security after hours. I've bowled here late at night, and felt safe and secure. So did I knock off a couple stars? -As others have said, the approaches can be tacky. While the Palace states they clean them at least once per day, they need to do something more. I have bowled throughout Ohio, and the Palace has some of the tackiest/stinky lanes I've bowled on. The employees need to put on a pair of bowling shoes and try bowling on the approaches themselves before calling them 'clean' or have a technician from Brunswick come out and do re-training on cleaning procedures. -Most of the associates are friendly and will begin to recognize you if you go enough. Patrick, Jamie, "Big" Al, the staff at the snack bar, and front desk are all wonderful. However, a couple of my team mates who have need to set-up an appointment to pre-bowl have encountered a woman in the office with less than stellar customer service skills. They have reported that she can be impatient or short with people. All and all, the Palace is my favorite bowling center in the Columbus area. I love it! read more

I'm not even a kid and I still want my birthday party here! I didn't even remember I liked bowling til Matt W. and I went here tonight, drank white Russians (duh) and bowled like like muthers (well, Matt did - me, not so much). It was awesome. Okay, let's talk about how the bar in this place is tropical themed, with shutter doors and palm trees painted on it. I immediately wanted a scorpion bowl and eagerly anticipated hoardes of mulleted/bouffanted types in Canadian tuxedos (you have no idea how excited this makes me...) - however, this was clearly just a fantasy I was having in my head. For all its palm trees and parrots, the bar was a normal bar, and no townies were anywhere to be found, save three stragglers who sauntered in as we were leaving to bowl. Alas. The bartender poured a strong white Russian(s), but I still would have appreciated a Scorpion bowl and Blue Hawaii on the TV. The bowling itself is great - the shoes are super decent (I was psyched because they were not only clean but well-worn in and comfy) and accurate to size, and there are 64 freakin' lanes... forreal, yo. This is definitely the biggest bowling place I have ever been in. I had to laugh though, because as Matt pointed out, when you get a spare, some sexy-sexy chick appears on the screen. Gone are the days of badly done cartoons - no, let's cut to the chase. You got a spare, and you can also get this lady! HA. I would definitely go back here. I enjoyed the hell out of my time here. First, the retro atmosphere is PERFECT. It feels like my childhood in a great way. It's clean and well-maintained, so it doesn't feel "run-down" old, it feels comfortable and amazing. It reminded me of going bowling with my dad when I was a wee Susie. The staff is super friendly. Everyone was helpful while we were there for an event. The pizza was pretty good and they had a good range of cocktails and beers/beer-like beverages (including hard soda and cider) for an establishment that isn't primarily a bar. We were being served out of the side bar rather than the main bar, so they might have had even more options there. I noticed that they have a special on Tuesdays where lots of stuff is $2 (shoe rental, games, stuff like that), so that'd probably be a good day to go check it out. I would definitely take kids to this alley. It's extremely family-friendly, and huge so you don't have to be in the middle of a crowd of drunks or anything like that. (Not that most people go to a bowling alley to get hammered and misbehave--do they?) They're also open 24 hours a day (!!) so you can go bowling literally anytime. I love that. Despite the fact that it's not in the greatest area, they have great deals! You can't beat $40 for 3 hours of unlimited play, shoes, large 1 topping and a pitcher of soda. With 64 lanes they had great availability on a Saturday night. Our party of 4 was able to get a lane as soon as we walked in. That being said, the service was disappointing and ultimately the reason we won't return. The staff members and bartenders were not friendly and did not make us feel welcome. The first time I walked into the Bowling Palace, it just about blew my mind. Sixty-four lanes, all lined up side by side? The small-town alleys I was used to had maybe 20 lanes at the most, so it was an impressive sight to see lanes stretched as far as the eye can see. I'm sad that bowling has such a redneck/loser reputation, because it's really fun. You'll run into some characters when you come here, but ignore them and focus on the game. It can be difficult to find open bowling hours here, but it's open 24 hours, so if you're willing to stay up late, you can do a ton of bowling for a few dollars (they have all-you-can-bowl specials after 9 p.m. that get cheaper the later it gets). I've never had any issues with the equipment here, and the lanes are kept in great condition, with regular upgrades to the scoring system. I've also spent a lot of time at the arcade here. Believe it or not, in 2002 the Palace was the first place in Ohio to get the newest Dance Dance Revolution machine. I remember going there at around 2 a.m. on a Tuesday night, shortly after the DDR machine was installed, and encountering a crowd of several dozen people waiting to play. But that was then, and just like any arcade, there are a lot of redemption games here now. Still, there are enough good games here to keep you busy for a while. The Palace is pretty much the only bowling alley I consider when I want to bowl, even though there are two closer to my house. read more

I've recently switched this as MY go-to alley. Being open 24 hours leaves a lot of room for procrastination so get there before midnight for the pizza place (the veggie pizza is the slap). The bartender is always polite, heavy-handed, quick and she doesn't roll her eyes when you order 6 white russians. I've only gone for "all you can bowl" prices. Which is nice because you can suck your first round, get determined the second round, and do worse-than-you'd-hoped the third round; fourth round is like the drunk-idgaf-round (where you always score the highest). Music scores points here too. My only complaint is the option of bowling balls. The size 8/9 balls have too tiny of finger holes and there are less size 10 balls. Always takes me like 10 minutes to find the right size. read more

To quote the oft-played television commercial, "The Palace Rocks!" When I was a kid I was in a bowling league. I loved it- the only sport I've ever aspired to that I stuck with out of something other than parental threats of video game seizure. Bowling is a great American past-time. You can play any sport drunk, but even the average person can drink beer and bowl with something like aplomb- or at least a grin on his or her face, and a grin means fun. And that's what the Bowling Palace is: fun. It's damn near always open, so if you have an itching to bowl at four thirty in the morning, go to my friend. I do sort of wish that the scoreboard animations were more cheesy, but they're not horrible. Bowling here is cheap (especially if you exploit one of their deals) and a blast. With plenty of room for bowlers, this is a great place to just show up and bowl at. I suggest you do so at your earliest possible convenience. read more

Ok. In the parking lot. Tall parking blocks border their lot. Pulling into the lot off Forrest Hills they are impossible to see, especially with the sun in your eyes. I hit one, destroying the underside of brand new car, lifting car off the ground and breaking a motor mount. Staff including the police working inside says it happens all the time. But the manager says nope.... Never happened before. Liar! I feel the placement of these is very hazardous and they should be at least partially liable. My vehicle suffered heavy damage and deductible is 500$. My fault yes. But they should be partially liable. These blocks are not marked and like 8 inches tall and very very heavy. I think that's what bowling alleys are supposed to be...right? They actually have really good pizza at their bowling alley "restaurant" though! Nothing to brag about and the fact that every time that I'm there, Columbus Police are ALWAYS present in case of a fight in or outside the place. Some people that might have looked suspicious to police were frisked smh. The bathrooms were not properly cleaned with unmentionables of us girls not properly disposed of. They need to upgrade the place period especially the shoes. Some of them you cannot spray and get the funk out those shoes. PU! If you don't bring your own bowling ball, chances are that you're gonna get an extra heavy ball or a ball you can't put your fingers in. Upgrade to the 21st century please. Bowling rates are pricey. Vintage bowling fun The Palace has that common bowling alley feel with the dull colors and plain lanes. There is a bar, arcade, and little food area to provide something for all ages even if you do not plan on bowling. Not sure how the prices compare to other bowling alleys, but I thought 5.25 per person per game was a little high especially isnt you still have to rent shoes if you are only a casual bowler. The lanes operate fairly well, did not need to reset or have lanes attended to that often. There are a bunch of lanes so not having one available is doubtful which i find nice. read more

I like going here with my son every once in a while. There are so many lanes I never feel like the place is crowded. Its possible if you go at night it could be crowded. It is a nice, peaceful way to spend an hour on a Sunday. The decor and general vibe of the place is stuck at sometime in the late 70's, early 80's. Honestly I'm not sure the place has changed since I used to come here in the 80's as a kid. That being said, I like this place better than Starlanes ( or whatever its called) near Polaris. I think I'd give it a 5 star if it was $4-5 dollars cheaper. When you rent shoes, and buy a game, things can get pretty pricey. read more
