This repaIr man is very nice. I got his phone number from Fix-It Fred's website so I knew he would be a known, trustworthy entity. He's come and fixed us up a few times over the years and each time it's a practical, reasonably priced solution. He's very busy ( likely to his practical, reasonable prices) but well worth waiting for. It took 2 trips; first to assess & order a part & second to install the replacement belt. He mentioned it costs too much to keep all inventory on hand. I didn't mind waiting a few days for the part because I could still get one car out of garage while the other door wasn't working so it wasn't an inconvenience and not for long. read more

I called Dave and he was out the next day to look at and repair the keypad for our garage opener. Before coming out, he asked specific questions about the keypad and so had the parts. He arrived a little early and after looking over the keypad and garage door, he explained what needed to be done. he had the necessary parts; within 90 minutes, Dave had replaced the keypad and given the garage door mechanism a good cleaning and oiling. Late one evening, one of the rusted steel cables pulling our 400 lb+ wood sectional garage door snapped, causing the unwieldy door to jam, bending hinges/tracks/wheels in its wake of destruction. Even with the drive disconnect cord pulled, the door simply could not be moved, trapping our car inside but also leaving a good enough tilted gap that animals or even a determined person could slip inside. Dave answered my plea for help that same evening and came out first thing the next morning, spending three hours unjamming the door, having to remove several parts, bend other parts back into shape, replaced the deteriorated steel cables on both sides of door and oiled everything up. I called Colt Garage Doors about six months ago explaining that my Home Owner's Association needed our doors to be either resurfaced or replaced. I spoke with Dave who explained my door probably was new enough that it didn't need replacing but to call back if I ever needed it checked or serviced. He could have easily said, "Ok let's replace it." and I wouldn't have known any better. But he didn't. He was honest and I appreciated that. I called Dave last week to see his availability to come service my garage door and install a new remote keypad. He made time to fit me in the next day. Before he removed the old keypad he tried changing batteries, and adjusting the sensors to really make sure it was broken & needed to be replaced. He chatted the entire time explaining that he had installed my garage door and many more in my complex throughout the years. We discussed how to clean and upkeep my garage door. He set an appointment time and arrived 5 minutes early. My springs were replaced, the door was lubed and balanced, and the sensors adjusted in about one hour. Outstanding service. Dave chatted the entire time, explaining everything he was doing and even provided tips for future maintenance.
