I thought I finally found my Michigan nail place, but I was wrong. I have been to Colorful Nails 3 times, and they did a great job at an affordable price. However, I did notice that the shop is a little dingy in some places, but the price and quality was good so I ignored it. However, after my third time there, my finger started hurting. Pus started coming out of it and now it is started to turn a grayish color. I'm sitting in the doctors office now with an infected finger. This has never happened to me before, so it's not as if I'm prone to infections like this. It had to be the cleanliness (or lack thereof) of the shop. So I strongly suggest you beware. I've been going for a few months now and have never had a bad experience! My nails always turn out great and I'm not paying a fortune for dip nails. I don't get fancy designs or anything. I have my natural nails and sometimes they break so I'll get the occasional tip on to help with length. Some places I have been to pile on the dip and make your nails look extremely bulky. That is not the case here. My nails are always neat and natural looking. I've taken my daughter (5) a few times for a mani and polish. I would say they aren't geared toward kids. The first time they painted super messy and I could have done a better job at home myself. The second time was much better and both times my daughter was happy with her experience. Very expensive for very poor work! You will be ignored if you ask for specific items or told that they wont look right! I spent over $100 each time Ive come in, and the first time they mess up, Im charged $30 for them to fix it and for polish, ridiculous! Don't agree to do work you don't have time for and will rush! I asked for my nails to be soaked off and was ignored! They then ripped them off my hands with a metal tool and a fake adhesive nail. Ridiculous. My hands were numb for a week after, and after paying $30 for shellac (that should've been free), it shouldn't be chipping or coming off after only 2 days! Just went in to get my nails done because the place I am currently frequent was closed. I was very happy with their color selection, and their staff was very friendly. Prices were very reasonable, $15 for a fill in $20 for shellac. The only downside to my visit was the lack of music or TV in the background during my visit. Majority of the staff here do not speak english as a first language however the individuals i've been serviced by so far try their best to be friendly and hold a conversation. They have an extensive variety of polishes (the color changing one has become my new favorite!) and the atmosphere is nice. Well, I didn't get to have my nails done here, but according to the other reviews, I probably wouldn't want to anyway. I went here and there were two people ahead of me already getting their nails done. No one was waiting in line. I was told I would be next. One of the people ahead of me was finished, paid, and left. A new person walks in and sits down and starts getting her nails done. So, I decided to leave. On my way out, an employee asked why I was leaving. They mentioned they were a little short staffed so that explained the wait but it wasn't a long wait, maybe 10-15 minutes. Linh was my nail tech and she did a great job. Got a lovely pedicure here last weekend. Spa chairs, lots of space. Could have done without the tv playing 500 million years BC, or whatever was on. The dinosaurs were a bit distracting while I was trying to relax and enjoy having the scales scraped off my feet. One point deducted because they weren't quite ready for our group of three when we arrived (we had appointments). We didn't have to wait too long, so no big deal. I also noticed a minor smudge on my polish afterward. Not sure if that was my fault or theirs. Nice folks running the place. I'd definitely go back. He had to stop many many times to answer the phone, say yes to anyone who walked in, and even once to go to the back room for some reason. It was a miserable experience. They did a spectacular job of taking them off. It's quite the process and they really had a lot of patience in doing this task. Service is great and so is the price. They took me in right away without an appointment on friday afternoon. I gave 3 stars because the inside decor looks old and alittle dirty. The main reason for the rating is because I got a shellac and it chipped the next day. I get my nails done consistently for many years now and shellac has never chipped after one day. This is my first time getting a pedicure here. So far, I like the massage chairs, and the place seems pretty clean. The price is also reasonable at $25. My male salon staffer wears gloves and used an antiseptic foot bath, also used spray alcohol on my toes before painting. I frequented this place quite a bit because my Shellac manicure would last theee weeks without breaking or chipping, but yesterday, sadly, will be my last day. I was in the nail shop for three hours because two people were taken in front of me. I asked if I could at least get my process started by getting my Shellac soaked off since people were taken ahead of me. The technician, while frustrated, soaked my nails, but I was sitting for so long that she was able to start on yet another person. When she did remove the Shellac, she filed my nails and told me I could go; she claimed to not know I wanted color. CONS- Usually I am a walk-in, they say about 5-10 minutes. Most of the time, I am waiting 20 or more minutes to be seen. I expect to wait as a walk in, but let me know ahead of time that it is actually going to be more than 20 minutes and not 5-10. I've wasted my entire lunch break several times waiting. I used to frequent here often but after today I probably won't be back. First of all, the man doing my pedicure cut my foot and said nothing, just quickly put my foot back into the water as if I didn't notice. Secondly, the pedicure was nothing more than my feet soaking in the water, which I could've done at home. No scrub was used and he brought out an old, barely abrasive scrubber to scrub the bottom of my feet. They use old and probably still wet tools since he simply threw the wet ones that he used on my feet right pack into the package. When he began to paint my toes he used no base coat, weird. It was just overall a very poor pedicure that definitely wasn't worth $25. Also, depsite the two large tvs there was no tv or music playing which made for a very awkward visit. I'm not impressed.
