Ignore the bad reviews because this place was a lot of fun and the staff was AMAZING. We did two rooms, the lost city and the kidnapped room (my favorite!). We originally were going to only do the kidnapped room but something went wrong with the cameras (stuff happens, not a big deal) so we did the lost city one. It was a lot of fun! We solved it with 10 minutes left. Because of the inconvenience she told us we could come back another day for free to do the kidnapped one. Now that one was FUN!! We were one of only two groups to solve that room the entire week and boyyyy did it feel like you were kidnapped by a killer. Our hearts were racing so fast, super scary. But we solved it the second the timer went off, almost didn't make it! I will definitely be coming back here! read more

Having never done this before, I thought it was a ton of fun. There were 7 of us and we did the Alice in Wonderland room which only had a 20% success rate. I thought it was fun and kept us on our toes. The props were neat, somewhat cheap but it's the thrill that counts and the questions were incredibly tough, hence the 20% success rate. It was $14 per person with a Groupon and I honestly can't see myself spending more than that. My only advice to the owner would be to place well lit signage outside. Google maps takes you to this dark parking lot next to a restaurant and you can't see any signage outside in the dark. read more

We visited the Denver location and played the Prison Escape Room. I'd call myself an escape room enthusiast. I've done nearly 50 rooms across the globe, and this was one of the worst. The room had at least 3 completely separate reset errors (something not locked that should have been, something not in the right place when it it HAD to be, or something downright missing). The decor was well below industry standard, with many of the props falling apart or working sporadically, wall paper stuck to the wall with packing tape, unfinished construction materials to name a few. Realism was pretty much zero. The puzzles themselves were ok, apart from all the miscues caused by a bad reset, which weren't addressed in a useful way (they slid the missing parts under the door with no explanation or notification, so they went unnoticed for a few minutes until we happened to spot them by chance). A couple of the puzzles could be solved out of order because you could see clues that were not supposed to be visible (bad game design). The employees appeared to be teenagers, we didn't see anyone that looked like a manager on site. We did get this room on a Groupon, so the cost was fairly low, but I wouldn't go back even at the discounted rate. All in all a let down, just spend the few extra bucks and go to a better business. read more

Did the Temple of Doom room in Westminster. Like others that have posted and have done rooms elsewhere, this is a low quality setup compared to other. Absolutely zero intro from the host - just dumped in room with random strangers. One member of our party hadn't read the intro online, and asked what the "story" was for the room. Host said like she was having to actually do some work: "find the skull." Wow. Every other place does a basic intro to the different types of locks, etc. and gives you the whole "back story" to the room you are in. Very disappointing. Also, as other people have pointed out, the rooms are super-cheaply put together. And finally, we were a group of 4 and being put in a room with random people was not a good experience. read more

This place is iconic in Colorado for being one of the worst escape rooms in the state. I've heard so many funny stories and horror stories I just had to come, I mean why not? It's only $10. The experience here is laughable, the place is a mess, games are very VERY poorly decorated. Only one lock worked correctly for us, and there was a reset error which made the game impossible to play. I guess you get what you pay for. Looking over the other reviews it seems like the people who liked playing here are the people who have never played any other rooms. As a consumer you must understand that Colorado has very immersive rooms with insane technology and puzzles, this is not what good escape rooms are. Absolutely the worst Escape Room in the Denver Metro Area. The first clue was the reservation. These people either hate their jobs or they hate customers that pay. The assistant and the "manager" were both extremely rude. The place is not clean, not comfortable and when the staff is continually sniping at you and the other customers you start wondering if the real escape room is designed for the lobby to escape the business. Really disappointing but we have ourselves to blame and should have seen the red flags right away. read more

I've been to three other escape rooms and this was by far the worst. We did the easiest room that takes place in a submarine, and it felt like we were failing the entire time. The clues did not make sense, there were random things on the wall that were never applicable to solving anything. There were random arrows placed next to a directional lock that meant nothing, tons of random letters and numbers in different colors and only a few mattered, there was a code where things were marked in two different colors but the colors were meaningless, switches that changed colors but the colors were also meaningless, stuff on the ceiling that meant nothing, etc. We ended up escaping with about 13 minutes left just because there weren't very many things to solve in the room. It was not satisfying when we got out at all because I honestly expected more clues. It felt like we should have been half way done. Usually you get a high in these rooms as you get on a roll and get clue after clue. I just felt confused and frustrated basically the entire time, and yet still got out with plenty of time. It's just a poor room design. There are harder rooms there but I'm definitely not going to try them out if this was their "easy" one. Lots of other people have mentioned Amber. We had a different guy who worked with us most of the time and he was very nice, but we did get one clue from I think Amber, and she was very condescending. The clue we found took so many leaps to get the right answer and she made it sound like we were dumb for not figuring it out. The problem was not us. The place itself is very hard to find. No big signs even on the building itself. Just some stickers on their window. No sign from the road. They really need to warn their customers on their website because it took a good 10 minutes wandering around trying to find it. It's a good thing we got there 30 minutes early. If you want to try an escape room, try a different one. There are so many other better options out there. read more

We booked the Jurassic escape themed room and it was lots of fun. We ended up win a group we didn't know but still got on well. The room moderator was helpful and the room was fairly simple for my husbands first escape. There was a good amount of decor and layers to discover which kept us going for most of the time. This was my group's 1st time trying out an escape room. We got a great discount from Groupon and decided on the Kidnapping scenario. My group consisted of 4 of us and a friendly couple, six total. They advised us to come in about 10 mins early to go over rules and locks. They are a little hard to find, so we were a little late. Anyways, Amber gave us the run down. She seemed a little rushed before our scenario. Ok, that's fine. We were a little late, I understand. So, during our scenario, that I admit, we were failing at, she started to reprimand us over the intercom. She then felt she had to yell the code we needed over the intercom. Side note: the code they hollering was incorrect. As we continued to fumble with the code (they repeatedly hollered incorrectly at us) we needed for a lock, she came in the room, yelled at us like school children, treated us like we were idiots (pointing at what we needed to understand), opened the lock with the corrected code, and continued to berate us. She made it very clear that she was watching 3 rooms and she couldn't watch us the entire time and that we needed to communicate (not our fault they were understaffed and overbooked)! I wanted to tell her that we'd like to stop and get a refund, but I didnt. Our group continued and were able to finish the scenario, with their prompts (I'm sure they were over us). There are a few things that I feel could be improved. 1. Hire employees that are friendly and patient. This is a new thing for people and it should be a fun experience. 2. Actually, that's about it. After the experience with Amber, I would never go back to this particular business. Other than the interaction with her, our group enjoyed it. We will definitely try an escape room again, but at a different place. And we will definitely advise others to go elsewhere for the Escape Room experience. read more

This is my second escape room. The room itself was OK, but the host made it not so fun. I understand that people are hard on things so there are rules, but I do not like being scolded like a two year old when I was doing nothing that would have damaged anything. I re-locked the practice locks in the waiting area which I guess is a HUGE no-no and was scolded. I also started to poke a stick into a hole..... OK, I need to give background here and may have a small spoiler for the "Kidnapped" room in Northglenn. There was a hole with a sign that read "do not insert finger unless you want to loose it" but guess what, you had to poke your finger into it. There were holes in a wall with a sign "do not insert stick into holes" so, given that you had to poke finger into the other hole, I proceeded to start to insert stick into the hole and again was scolded. The signs applied in one circumstance, but not in the other. I also forgot that there was nothing overhead that needed to be messed with and checked out something on the ceiling... again I got the motherly scolding. Our group never asked for clues but were given several anyway. A "clue", by the way, is just telling you how to do the next puzzle. Granted, we did need them in order to successfully escape, but we never asked for them. One was given when we were close to figuring it out on our own. At my first room the host was very fun and made the entire experience positive with the group excited and happy at the end. With this room, everyone was stressed and had a negative attitude. This was by far my least favorite of the 4 escape rooms I have played. With other rooms my wife and I have gotten into a flow, where solving one piece of the puzzle logically segues into the next. The design of the Northglenn Star Wars room felt very choppy. We have played harder rooms than this, but in those cases even when we struggled with something there was an internal logic to it. With this room we needed clues much earlier, and when we were given them, we didn't feel like there was the same sense of logic to the room design. Certain parts of the room were also faded and thus difficult to solve. Another part of the room demanded finding a light that had turned on, but it was not bright enough to notice that something had changed. Austin was a great host, but he also seemed to be the only one on staff, which meant he wasn't with us the whole time as we've experienced in other rooms. This meant occasionally waiting for a while when we asked for clues, or having to explain to him what we had done when he was giving a clue. Overall the place felt a little run down, and the room not well thought out. I would recommend seeking other rooms in the Denver area before this one. read more

Tonight was my first night at Colorado escape in Northglenn. I brought my best friend for her birthday with a deal from groupon. When we showed up we were placed with 3 other people. The gentleman gave little directions on what to do but we went along inside excited none the less. Once we entered the dark room we began looking for clues. As we opened one box that had a key we tried opening another box. Welp that was a bad idea we had a nasty person named Amber come in and start yelling at us! Like the other review stated she scolded us like school children! Once she told us what to do next she slammed the door behind her and we began the next clue. We eventually got into the next room but not long before nasty Amber came back in yelling. Telling us what the hell are we thinking why would we do this and that!?! Ummmmm we're trying to figure it out lady this is our first time!!! She accused us of breaking a magnet when it was already broken! By this point I was very upset so I told her we wanted to stop and get our money back bc by this point she already ruined our experience! Well nasty Amber did not refund our money and would not give us her manager/ boss info. She said she would be telling her boss we were the rude ones breaking rules then slammed the door behind us WOW! I was heading going to escape room here in Thornton and before I even got in the door, a female employee with blue/green hair was going in and out the front door cussing and yelling at people outside the building for parking in her f***ing spot, and slamming the front door many times If that's how the employees act to random strangers outside of her place of work I do not want any part of this place. I had an incredibly poor experience with Colorado Escape and their hostile employees. Upon arriving, it was hard to find the location, which had no sign and is in a run-down building. When we entered (10 minutes early), the employee curtly instructed us to sign in because they were behind schedule. When I asked where, she irritatingly replied "Over there." Before going into the room, we were paired with a group of 4 to fill out the 6-person room, which I was not anticipating. Some of the "adventures" advertised 6-person rooms, but not the one I signed up for. At this point, the experience was still fine. I understand that, even though it's not my preference, they need to combine groups to efficiently do business. I asked the employee if we could reschedule (so we could either have a 2-person experience or find some friends that would make it much more enjoyable for me), and she ordered me to "Go to the lobby. We'll discuss it there." When she met us there and I explained we'd have a better experience with people we were familiar with, she became very combative and had an "us vs. them" attitude. She dismissed my preference and disgustedly told me that these rooms are all about communication, as if I'm missing the entire point if I'd rather not do it with strangers. She went on to angrily explain that they could have booked someone else in our place if I didn't want to do it, and that it would cost me $25 to reschedule since I didn't give 24 hours notice. I COMPLETELY understand this policy (to prevent loss of business), but I will not be rescheduling. I feel like I have relatively thick skin and rarely leave poor reviews, but I'd rather eat the money I already paid and never reschedule in order to avoid giving Colorado Escape another dollar. Talk about one employee ruining the entire experience. To be clear, my review is purely based on the atrocious customer service I received. I never even made it into the room so I can't comment on the quality of those. read more

My husband and I had a Groupon and we decided to try the murder mystery. We showed up a little early and Amber was on the phone when we got there so we waited just a little until she got off the phone. We were the only two booked and she offered to let us come back for another room that had more people booked in it. We had another awful experience at another escape room downtown when they asked us to wait, and we did not want to wait. She showed us how to work the locks, which was great, something that helped immensely! We were in a room that had a light box for the entire office and she told us what it was and the lock on the box was not a part of the game. I admit a couple of times throughout the game we almost forgot that the box wasn't a part of the game, so I would hope they move the box sometime soon. The clues we got during the game made it so enjoyable. Even though we didn't escape (we only needed the code for the door). We were much happier with this experience than the other escape room. We've booked another room, and are excited to try again. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! OBVIOUSLY WE'RE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH AMBER!! I have been to several escape rooms with several different companies and I cannot believe the unprofessional, extraordinarily rude employee that we were greeted with. Her name is Amber, and from the second that we walked in, she seemed inconvenienced to be a work, and extremely annoyed with the group that was in the room while we were waiting. "Seriously... you just asked for a clue..." Her tone, her demeanor, everything about her was off-putting. Minutes into the game, someone accidentally touched something they shouldn't have, and she instantly came in and began scolding the person for it. They apologized for it. A few minutes after that, we solved a clue out of order, she came back in and told us that we shouldn't just be guessing and that we didn't listen to the instructions because we didn't go through a specific door. She said we were 6 steps ahead of where we needed to be, took that key, locked it back up and said our clues were in the other room. One of the cheap props came apart using it, she came in "Well that really sucks that you guys broke that...." we explained it was broken when we tried using it.. "Well that sucks that its broken like that". After we opened a few other clues, we again went back to the lock we originally opened. Using the same logic, we opened it again. She came in again and with attitude started questioning how I was doing it. She rudely told me that I can't just guess, but wouldn't let me explain how I solved it. She went on to explain that I was wrong and that we weren't completing it the way it was meant to be solved. By this point, all 5 of us in our group (2 which we didn't know) were tired of being harassed and started voicing our disapproval of how we were being treated. Our whole group left 23 minutes into the escape. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent. Stay away at all costs and hopefully they fire Amber. Obviously customer service is not a staple at this location. We will never be going back... read more

The guy working was horrible! We played with two people we didn't know, who had never played before, and he didn't tell them to play with the locks and familiarize themselves while they were waiting....so they sucked with the locks. He didn't watch us to pay attention to what clue we were on or what we were missing, so when we had to ask for help it would take him a long time to even answer, then he didn't give us a clue on the tv like it's always been before, he had to waste our precious time asking what clues we had gotten so far and arguing with us. A few times he was super unprofessional and would rudely say "let me talk" or "if you would listen to what I'm saying" or will you let me talk" and then not say anything unless we said yes. You can't ask us to tell you what we have gotten and then tell us to shut up. If he actually did his job it wouldn't have been an issue. He didn't even put the time up, so we had no idea how much time we had left. He said he was by himself, but I have come before when there was only one girl working and we have never had this issue.
