I was in Denver for only a few days and hadn't been there before. I didn't want to go with…read morestrangers (espeically during COVID), so I booked a private (luxury SUV with snacks/lunch) tour with Devon to Rocky Mountain National Park on September 28. Devon is such a wonderful tour guide; incredibly accommodating and professional. He was really informative about the area. Stopped to let me get a close look at elk and even a moose. We had a lovely lunch at a cafe at the top of the mountains. I loved the weather, it was 80 when we left, then it rained, then it hailed, then it snowed! On the way back, Devon casually tosses out, "Do you like pie?" WHO doesn't like pie?! He stopped at a little place he knows where a woman in her 80's makes homemade pie (Colorado Cherry Company), but unfortunately, it was closed (so whe had to stop for ice cream further down the road). Devon and I talked throughout the entire tour (which was about 7 hours) about books and our love for animals and nature and our lives; as we drove through some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere. It was one of those few days in my life that I will remember and cherish; when you have a great connection with both nature and with another kindred spirit.

There are several reasons why these tours worked for our family. 1. He picked us up from our Airbnb. 2. We didn't have to worry about where we were going. 3. We could enjoy the scenery along the way, with no stress, and curbside drop off (or princess parking as my daughters would say). 4. We could enjoy our family time together and we went at our own pace, no rushing to get on a big tour bus for the next stop. 5. If we needed Devon he was there and if we didn't he gave our family space. 6. History about the parks as we went along each tour. 7. Sometimes trips are hard to plan in advance, and we were ISO a spot with first come, first serve sites. Kudos to the universe for allowing the stars to align in our favor! + Along the Middle St. Vrain Creek + Two vault toilets located centrally between campsites + One fire ring (with grates) per site + Firewood available on property for $9 + Sizable tent pad, bear locker and picnic table + Walking distance to trailhead + Reservable and non-reservable campsites + 8 people allowed per campsite + Pets allowed We had an extremely enjoyable camping trip a few weeks back. Roughly an hour and a half from our house in Denver, Peaceful Valley Campground made us feel like we were thousands of miles away from civilization. For reference, the campground is about 8 miles away from the ever-popular Brainard Lake Recreation Area. We did experience some rain on Saturday afternoon which was a damper (pun intended). But because of that rain we were treated to the most spectacular rainbow and sunset. It was magical, just look at the pictures I got. The consensus was that we'd come back in a heartbeat next year. There's nothing better than going to sleep at night with the sound of a vibrant creek in the background. We're creekside campers and Peaceful Valley delivered an A+ trip for us!

No option to ride the Alpine slide one time with your kids to experience the slide, now its $63.00 PER PERSON regardless of age for the full day with no one time slide option. The Gondola is $41.00 PER PERSON regardless of age. Winter Park is NOT VAIL and is no where close to worth what they are charging. We will be shifting gears and recommend shifting gears to Breckenridge for all of your Colorado adventures...Winter AND Summer

We visited Breckenridge for the day in early August. We just wanted to check out a 'ski resort…read moretown' while on vacation. At the center of town, there is a large parking lot ($10 for the day). Adjacent to that is the free gondola station. You might ask yourself why the gondola is free? The answer is: because it takes you to a place where you can spend money rapidly. At the end of the 10-minute gondola trip is a large hotel/lodge. Behind it is the base of the ski slope. In summer, they have to find other ways of attracting crowds, so they have several options. There is an Alpine Slide (where you ride a controllable cart down a concrete / plastic chute dug into the hillside). There also appeared to be a 'mountain coaster', which substitutes metal rails instead of the chute. My daughter and I opted for the Alpine Slide, as neither of us had ever tried one. My wife opted to grab something to eat. The lodge has one or more food vendors and you can eat on the patio under shade-umbrellas. The main drawbacks to the ride are price and time. I think it was $28 each when we went. Normally I might have balked at that, but this was likely to be a rare opportunity, so we splurged. You first wait in line (and sign a waiver) for the initial ticket / wrist-band. That took about 10 minutes. Once you are banded, you go and get in another line to wait to ascend. This took at least 30 minutes. You then get to ride a chair-lift up the mountain a ways (which was a nice experience in itself). You get to the upper station, exit the chair-lift and...wait in another line to get a cart. They separate you into groups of about 25 and let you get a cart and line up for one of the 3 chutes. The only difference in the chutes was that 2 allowed 2-persons (adult and child) rides and 1 was solo only. Once you get a start, it is a nice ride. You can go as fast or slow as you like, via the hand-brake. If you want to go fast you may catch up with the person in front of you, though. It was an enjoyable ride and I'm glad we did it. I'm not sure I'd need to do it twice, though.

They have…read morereally nice restrooms with hot showers, 4 minutes for $1 and and you can add quarters as needed $.25=1 minute. There is a coin machine on the vanity. Located within the main restroom facility they have laundry and vending machines loaded with snacks and caffeine. The vending machines and ice machine all take cards and cash. The restrooms are cleaned constantly and the staff are all so pleasant! Panorama Point is located just up the hill with stunning views of the surrounding mountains! There is an office on the right when you enter the campground which is where you buy bundles of wood for $5 each. For a nice size fire that lasts approximately 4-5 hours you'll need to bundles.

They sell firewood at visitor center for $5, credit card accepted. The elevation is roughly around 10,000 feet so pack extra water and clothes. Basic tent sites start at $30 and Cabins and Yurts start at $80. A little pricy for camping but the hiking trails and the proximity to Denver is worth it to me. Also if you have AT&T the LTE works for those with phone anxiety. Reserve online early most sites are booked months in advance.
