Brush Salon is awesome! I'm not all that picky about my hair - I go for natural coloring and…read moreclassic styles. Really all I want is for it to look good without spending too much time in front of the mirror everyday. Since my hair requirements are so basic, it should be simple to find a salon and stylist I love. That's not been the case. I've gone through a long list of salons and been really underwhelmed by the talent and shocked by the pricing. I found Brush by stumbling across an Instagram image of a friend's new hair style and it was PERFECTION. I tracked down the salon and stylist info to make my own appointment. I was blown away by the facilities - it wasn't too busy or too loud. It was actually really relaxing. Not only was the salon phenomenal, but so was Madison. She was the first stylist I've seen in years that did an amazing job on my hair - cut and color were both perfect. I've been back since my first appointment and was unable to schedule Madison on short notice. I was a little leery at first, but was extremely happy with the way my hair turned out. I think I've found my new home!

The girl who did my hair previously sort of didn't hit the mark, especially around my roots, so I reached out to Lily to help fix. She did just that! Her pricing is also reasonable, and the salon was in a great location and very comfortable. Lily is also so sweet and friendly - as a blonde, it's super hard to find someone who can hit the mark the first time. Lily did just that, and I've already made my next appointment with her!!

I am super picky about who cuts and colors my hair and she met every expectation I had going in. She was personable and super attentive to what I wanted, she asked a lot of questions to make sure it was clear and talked me through the process. She is so so nice and I am so happy I found her! I found her through Instagram and she is active on there about hair care, how to's, and just overall good people. I learn from her when I'm not even in the chair! Leah is another one I've gotten blowouts from and I am so so happy I met her along the way too! She is so bubbly and has such good skills at making my hair so full of life. I couldn't be happier to get another blowout from her for a treat yo self day - because, honestly, we all need them nowadays. She also cut my husbands hair and I absolutely love it. He was happy with the cut and the cost! Love love love Mane and couldn't recommend it enough.

I came in for caramel highlights, to blend into my brown hair. Rachel, the owner of the salon…read morecharged me $600 for a full highlight. Wow. I have lived in Los Angeles and San Diego for the past 8 years, receiving color correction treatments for bleached out ruined hair, highlights, and balayage at high end salons in La Jolla and Santa Barbara. The peak of what I have spent on my hair should not have been in Wilmington, NC, and for bad hair at that! Yes, I have long hair. I have NEVER been charged anything close to $600 and even if I was okay with that price, I am not okay with it for the hair that I left with. My hair is fried, looks nothing like the photo that I showed her, has a bad cut, and has bad color. There are streaks of platinum mixed with deep brown, leaving me with all shades of human hair on my head. When I called the salon after getting over the initial shock of the $600 charge, Rachel couldn't give me a good explanation for how that price came to be. She said she charges by the hour, then she said by the individual service "she had to charge extra for the money piece in front". Then, she told me that she had to provide color correction and that is why it was so expensive. I color my roots with Wella at home. There was no color correction needed. She gave me a full highlight service with toning and it ended up frying my hair and looking not at all subtle. I feel like crying, looking back at how my hair was just a couple of days prior to going in and paying $600 to someone for this "service" is such an insult. Pics below show my hair when I came in, and my hair now.

Katie at Sea Ray Salon is HANDS DOWN THE BEST STYLIST I have EVER had the pleasure of working with…read more When I asked her how long she had been doing hair I was shocked to learn that she had just finished school, then much less surprised when she told me she had graduated at the top of her class AND received honors. As a self-proclaimed tomboy, I'm always nervous to work with a new stylist out of fear that I'm going to end up with a hard-to-maintain and style super complicated 'do. However, Katie styled my hair in a way that made me feel more feminine than ever without feeling like I was getting ready for prom. The cut and color both looked and felt so natural and I have never before felt so stylish and pretty! One thing that I TRULY appreciate about her is the fact that she LISTENS. I wear my hair in a ponytail every single day for work and too many stylists have ignored me when I said this. In the past I would too frequently end up with a cut so short that I had this tiny little ridiculous ponytail and hair falling all over the place (including in to my eyes). Katie cut my hair to the perfect length where it looked healthier and fuller but still left a great looking ponytail! (And on her first try, at that!) Most importantly (to me, anyway) is that Katie really took the time to teach me how to work with my hair and new 'do. I never used to spend a lot of time on it but now I look forward to going out so that I can work to replicate what she did when she styled it. With the explicit instructions that she gave me I'm getting better and better at it each time and still ALWAYS get compliments on how great it looks! Needless to say, I cannot recommend Katie highly enough and look forward to my next trip to Wilmington so that I can go back to her!!!
