Jennifer took the time to listen to me stress cry over it, and then she took an incredible amount of time getting my really wild hair exactly to the place I need it to be. I went out of there with w whole new confidence I didn't realize I could have, and I'm so grateful that Jennifer was so good and patient with me. This place is awesome! I just moved here from Seattle, WA and I was worried I wouldn't find a quirky hair salon like the one I went to there. For some reason, I get hair salon anxiety and I don't like to go to the super bright/ritzy type salons. I was super intrigued by this place since it had such good yelp reviews so I decided to check it out! Because of it's popularity on Yelp I didn't think I'd be able to get an appointment on the same day I called, but they were able to fit me in that afternoon. The interior design of the salon is brilliant because it's not your run-of-the-mill salon with bright colors and pictures of hair models making awkward faces all over the walls. The walls are plastered with pages from old books (super cool) and it's got a really chill vibe. Aja did a really great job on my haircut and was very personable. I am really happy with the way my bangs look and not to mention, my undercut looks super awesome! :D I'd highly recommend coming to this salon especially if you have an alternative hairstyle like myself. read more

My hair basically appears to be the same length but healthy and more styled. She was great to sit and chat with too. I made an appointment with Britt a few months in advanced for an updo for a marine corp ball in Wilmington. I chose the salon and stylist based off of other Yelp reviews as well as portfolios. The atmosphere is casual but fresh and edgy. They play a great selection of rock music, from Taking Back Sunday to the Beatles. Britt really listens to you and what you want. I showed her a picture of a curly updo I found on Pinterest and she did a wonderful job recreating the hairstyle with her own twist, which I loved. She is very thorough with her work and even gave me some helpful tips for styling my hair on my own. I have had my hair done a handful of times by other stylists who also did a great job, but this was honestly my favorite updo for a formal event. I went in for a balayage and got my hair completely melted off and damaged and chemical burns on my neck by a new hair stylist. When I say melted I i literally had chunks come out. There are some pieces that are only 1.5-2inch on the top. The reason I'm giving this place any stars is because James and Mercedes jumped in to rectify the situation. Mercedes was very Easy to talk to and i thought she was generally trying to help me. I was given products and treatments at no cost and they did try to repair my hair when it was not their mess up. I sat for three weeks with yellow orange dry crispy hair. I appreciate the effort put in to try to fix the hair which involved coming in for a treatment in between and taking home leave in products. However when I expressed to the stylist Mercedes that after my color had been "fixed" my cut seemed off because I had a mullet tail in the back when i flat ironed it, and the color was darker than I expected, I was told she did the best to her abilities and I needed to speak with the owner for anything else. I would of stayed a client but not if I can't say the cut was messed up and get told to find someone new. Guess you aren't allowed to say anything is wrong with the cut. It was like they washed their hands of the situation and I got what I got. I didn't pay for these services but I left very generous tips each time. I thought I would of been answered with "yes I can fix the tail in the back of your head", but instead kicked to the curb. It's okay though because I found an Aveda salon that literally fixed my hair cut in less than an hour without the burden attitude. Especially since I i didn't fry my own hair..see for yourself in the pics. I'm just glad I went somewhere else where they took care of me and made my cut work since i can't do much with it for the next 8-12 months while my hair repairs. I am going to have to spend money on repairing shampoos and conditioners for a long time. And as my hair grew out I now have a level 4-5 dark band in the middle. I had to go much darker just to have my hair look normal. This isn't going to be fixed for a few years as it grows out. Once again James was very pleasant and reached out multiple times to make sure I was okay. I appreciate that. I just thought I would make an honest review. read more

Honestly, I'm shocked that a license professional could completely destroy my hair. I would never be one to write a nasty review, but I would like to help prevent this from happening to someone else. I asked Dylan for a beautiful brunette to blonde balayage. He acted confident and assured me that he understood what I was looking for. For 5 hours I sat in the chair and watched him put brunette coloring onto the roots of my hair and bleach the rest. He then foiled the entire thing. He turned me away from the mirror as he blowdried my hair (because he knew he destroyed my hair) and then rushed me out of the salon. He charged me $210 dollars to completely destroy my hair and give me a choppy and uneven haircut. My roots were streaky, blotchy and had blocks of color that were not blended properly. The rest was brittle, frizzy and irreversibly damaged. As a result, roughly 5 inches needed to be cut off. I contacted Dylan over instagram to tell him as nicely as possible that it wasn't exactly what I was looking for and I wanted it corrected. I did not want to hurt Dylan's feelings so I was trying to be as nice and professional as possible. He unprofessionally and rudely messaged me back and said, "If you go to someone else they will take my share of your service from me. Really hope this wasn't the case." He did not apologize for the damage. His sole concern was making sure he was paid. Naturally, I did not respond to the message because of how uncomfortable it made me. So, I made an appointment with a different stylist. He then double messaged me and confirmed that he had changed my appointment to be with him, without my consent. I politely told him that I was moving forward with the stylist I had previously contacted. The whole situation was incredibly uncomfortable, especially when I came back to get it fixed twice. It was damaged so badly that it wouldn't take color. He checked me in at the desk upon my return and acted as if he didn't know me. The least he could have done was apologize. Over a month later, I finally have nice hair again thanks to Tropez Salon. Before that, my hair was orange, breaking, fried, and completely unacceptable. Rockin' Roller's owner was very nice and he seemed very apologetic when he was informed of the situation. There are some good stylists in there (from what I hear) but I know I will never ever ever be back. On top of that, I am out close to $650 on trying to repair the damage that had been done by Dylan. I booked an appt with Cindy and have just found my stylist. I am pretty sure that even when I go back home to Richmond that I will still come back down to have my hair done here by her. I'm that pleased!! I'm growing my hair out from a graduated bob that I had done this last summer and she was able to cut it in a way that blended in some layers and shaped it nicer without hacking away at it. It takes a great eye as a hair stylist and an artist to be able to do this. She knew exactly what to do since I didn't have a exact way I wanted it cut. All I had was "I'm growing it out and need it to not look stupid anymore". And she ran with it! And then there is my color. "In love" hardly describes it!! I had a photo that I showed Cindy of an idea that I wanted and she took the time to show me several swatches of color that would go nicely on my hair based on what color it was when I went in. We went with a deep red/violet base, with hot pink and orange peekaboo. It's just incredible!! The interior of this salon is fantastic as well. I went in for a walk in. I've only been in once because I have a primary stylist back home but I had good service. I just went in for a trim and the girls name was Jen. My hair was at my lower back right at my pants line. After she was done, my hair is now above my bra line just a little under my shoulders. Over six inches for what was supposed to be a trim. and when I said it was so short she said nobody would notice which is absolutely not true. I've been coming to this salon for a few years now. I was never too picky about a salon until I had my hair done here by Cindy and now the bar is so damn high I only go to her! I LIVE in California and sometimes Colorado...and I've never had my hair cut in either of those states. I'd rather wait 9 months to see Cindy (I come back to Wilmington a few times a year usually) than pay anyone else in the Bay Area to chop my mop. Seriously. Every time I leave, I leave feeling completely stoked and satisfied with what she's done. I went drastic back in August and chopped some bangs that rocked my world and just today she cut and colored my hair to be a gradual grow of the bangs for the summer and it looks fan-fucking-tastic. So, Cindy rocks, obviously. All the stylist in there are super babes with lots of personality and care about their clients. They listen to you and genuinely care about what you're going for. I can give Cindy a quick 2-3 minutes of kinda what I think I want and BOOM she's got a bowl of goodness next to me and an hour later my hair is what I imagined in my head. I recently moved to the area for the DC area and dreaded the hunt for a new stylist who is good with color. This salon had great reviews on YELP but the only stylist available before the busy Thanksgiving holiday week was Mercedes who is fairly new to the salon and I couldn't find any reviews on her. I decided to take a chance on Mercedes and I am glad I did. She took her time to find the right color, talked me through some of the techniques she wanted to try, and she deep conditioned my ends at no extra charge. Leaving Orlando and finding a new stylist in Wilmington was...very scary. I've even flown down to Orlando once since moving just to get a hair cut! That's a bit of a stretch...but when I DID fly down to Orlando for other things, I made sure to see my stylist before coming back to NC. Fascinating back story, huh? So to Yelp I went when my split ends were creeping up the shafts of my hair and I stumbled across 6 fabulous reviews for the Rockin Roller Salon. I thought, "Why Not?" So I made an appointment with the suggested 'best stylist for the ombre color treatment' which happened to be the owner, Rozy. I came in and hours later, I looked like an absolute movie star. Rozy DID NOT rush through my hair cut or the color or the styling! She walked me through each detail of the color treatment, why she cuts hair dry, and how the products she used could help me in the future. She was so FABULOUS! I am familiar with getting hair compliments because I had such a great stylist down in Orlando and now that my hair has been returned to its former glory, all I can say is - GO! After reading all of the wonderful reviews for this salon, I decided to book a last minute appointment with Heather to do my wedding day hair. The salon is very funky and fun. I loved all of the pieces for sale by local artists. Heather was incredible, prompt, hilarious and made the entire adventure very fun. As I have VERY curly hair, she did an amazing job of straightening, adding waves and also extensions all while making sure I wouldn't have an afro explosion during the beach ceremony. did not know anything about the products. did not do any part of the diva curl process. for a Deva cut protocol: washed first with products they are using added then dry in a defuser blowdryer. then they without running finger or comb cut each curl individually straight across (never at a angle) brushed my hair when it was dry with their fingers then pulled straight with their hands cut across an bunch of my now frizzed up curls. cut off lots of hair it was definately not a simple trim they cut off inches. and then washed my hair they also said they did not know they products. hair lacked volume at the top and my long hair thick hair shrunk up to short and limp. read more

I have really short nail beds so literally every time I would get my nails done, at least ONE nail would pop off within a week. I have legit been to about every nail salon in wilmington! Ive been seeing Dynh now for a couple months and have had NO problems or broken nails! I get acrylic and they look real. He also does really good nail art. I would recommend everyone to him! My tab was suppose to be $130, after Laura finished padding my bill it ended up $207. I went back for hair color correction, Laura wanted to charge for the correction although I continually told her through out the process , " this is to dark" She had the guts to say my eyes would get use to it. Made an appointment on what I'd consider short notice, they were super friendly and accommodating even though a color service was involved too. I've been to the Rockin' Roller Salon before many years ago and only haven't been back because I had followed my stylist to a different salon in town. Every time my stylist would change salons the services kept getting more expensive each time, and while I do appreciate the services provided, I am on a budget too! So I remembered The Rockin' Roller Salon, not only because of my previous experience as a client there but because when searching for their contact info I came across all of these other awesome reviews on here. Speaks for itself! My stylist this time was Jentry, she is awesome and really paid attention to what I was trying to achieve and made it happen better than I had imagined my hair would turn out. I highly recommend her! I'm even happier at the fact that I didn't have to sacrifice my budget to get really quality service. I rated the "Price Range" as moderate on here only because Inexpensive sometimes leads people to think Inadequate. Prices for services at the RR are listed on their website and are far less than other salons in Wilmington that don't even really compare to it.
