I have cut anxiety as I'm trying to grow my hair but keep it healthy and kept. Lauren did a phenomenal job, great conversation too. My hair basically appears to be the same length but healthy and more styled. She was great to sit and chat with too. I never mind waiting but I went in promptly and was done in less than half an hour (my hair was clean and dry ready to cut). I would definitely recommend this salon for a basic trim, but other patrons appeared to have great color and style too.

I went out of there with w whole new confidence I didn't realize I could have, and I'm so grateful that Jennifer was so good and patient with me. I had absolutely no idea what I wanted, and I walked out of there a new person who feels transformed. 10/10 would recommend a thousand times.

I wanted like a natural balayage type highlights which I don't think this place is very skilled in (highlights I mean) and I basically feel like I just spent over 100 dollars for someone to turn all my hair brown, which I could have done myself for much cheaper. The Pinterest picture is the one I showed her. The other is what she did. Not even close. Honestly, just wanting to be done with the place I just left and didn't say a word about being unhappy but I'm literally in tears as I write this review. I went in initially for a balayage type of highlight on my dark brown hair. I showed Bailey a picture of exactly how I wanted it. I left the salon with half my hair more blonde than the other and with almost white streaky highlights it made me look like I had gray hairs( I'm 26). I told her I wasn't happy and went in a second time to get it fixed. I basically just wanted the other half of my hair to be slightly more blonde to match the other side. Just evened out so my ride side and left side match and just darken my highlights slightly. She basically dyed all my hair back to brown. She toned it so dark that you barely see highlight at all. I could have done that for $5 with a drugstore box of hair color. Again, at this point my hair is so processed I'm leaving it be but I would not suggest this place if you're looking to get highlights done.

FABULOUS HAIR SALON AND SPA!!!…read more I recently just moved into the area from New York. I had a few experiences with the local salons that left me wanting and concerned that anyone knew what current hairstyles and colors were all about. I was getting very saddened that I would not find a quality salon that had the experience and current styles I was looking for. Luckily my sister-in-law suggested her hairdresser, Alicia B. at 1051 salon and spa out of Wilmington, North Carolina. My first visit with her was like heaven. She and her assistant were extraordinarily attentive and she totally got my vibe and what I was looking for. She is extremely talented and a lot of fun to talk to and I had a wonderful time. Such a good time in fact that I went back to the front desk to see if they had any openings for the spa and they fit me in for a facial. All in all, the day went great! Love my new hairstyle and love Alicia. Thank you 1051 salon and spa. You've given me a little taste of NYC which I was missing terribly. I look forward to my next cut!

Due to the fact that my hair was a medium blonde it was recommended that I gave a darker base color so I agreed. After washing out the color I felt like a brunette- it was a mousy brown color with tiny streaks of blonde. I shared that I was looking for more highlights to contrast the brown and a few foils were added. Still, the overall look was brown. The haircut was more like a trim with no visible layers- all looked the same length. I was the last customer of the day and felt uncomfortable sharing my overall disappointment. What really shocked me was the price- over $250! Ouch! I just went to Bangz and got a cut , color and highlights for almost half the price and it looks awesome.

My repeated phone calls were also ignored. I went to the salon personally to request a refund for the unused gift card balance. Although the refund was eventually provided, the owner's demeanor throughout the interaction was dismissive, condescending, and devoid of even basic courtesy. When I calmly asked why I had been told no appointments were available while others were apparently accommodated,my questions were simply ignored. At 74 years old, I have lived long enough to recognize the difference between professionalism and social exclusion. what disturbed me most was not the refusal itself, but the complete lack of honesty, respect, and human decency in the way the situation was handled. I left with my refund, but also with the feeling that I was quietly judged and deliberately made unwelcome. No customer deserves to be treated that way.
