If there's any person who not only deserves a review from me but who I wish success while encouraging others to experience her services, it's Vinaya. This review is the easiest I've ever written. Because Vinaya saved my life. I realize that sounds like an exaggeration but it's not. The illness I suffered from was consuming my life. The episodes were slowly lengthening from 3-4 days to 5-6 days. All while the break between episodes was shortening from a few weeks in between to two weeks at the longest. Even with great coverage, my health care providers were unable to help me. And it didn't feel like they wanted to. It seems that a doctor's biggest issue is the inability to admit they don't know what is going on with patients. From family doctors to emergency room visits to specialists to a double oscopy and a follow up surgeon's note to call back in 5 years for another one. I felt like healthcare abandoned me. I was becoming/had become..unemployable, unable to travel, a terrible dad, a terrible husband, irritable, reserved, lonely and I was scared. I think I spent at least the first two, if not three, sessions..just talking with her. I was broke. I had just lost a dear friend and my father. I was carrying a lot of bad energy and memories and pain that was not helping my gut health. A healer, I mean a true, gifted healer has to have some natural abilities of intuition. Vinaya seemed to have a huge tool box of intuition, empathy, experience, knowledge, patience and an embracing of the power she possesses. From her absolutely nailing the exact supplements I needed and that were a HUGE part of my recovery, within the first 20 minutes of meeting, to her spot on understanding of the emotional state I was in. She knew exactly what I needed. She knows. She cares. She shares. She facilitates. She forgives. She listens. She leads. This is not a hyper clinical environment. She also took the time to explain some pregnancy body changes 101 to me. Postpartum, I also reached out right in the middle of covid19. She explained her in depth cleaning practices and spacing between clients, all of which sounded very thorough. I happened to reach out relatively early in my postpartum journey, so she directed me to some of her YouTube videos for pelvic floor but also encouraged me to check in again later if I wanted to seek care. He has extensive knowledge, is consistent and confident with his skills. I went in to see Wesley due to a pain level of an 8-9 on the outside of my right knee whenever I would kneel on it for the last 4-6 months. On the first day of treatment, after a thorough assessment, Dr Wesley Zhang diagnosed that it was my IT Band. Once he determined that, he knew and identified the exact corresponding spot on my scalp which also had a pain level of a 9 when he pressed on it. By the time I left his office after the very first visit, the pain in my right knee went down to about a 2-3. Amazing! I've had about 3 treatments now for my knee and the pain on my scalp is gone, the knee pain has not returned and is now at a 1-2 when kneeling on it. Everywhere from schools like PCOM to ACTCM to practitioners in SF, NYC, San Diego, Santa Cruz, and Washington DC. They've been at various skill levels. Never in all that time have I seen one who broke down each service (needles, cupping, etc) into a separate billing code. Usually, it's one flat rate. Then, with herbs on top of the cost of a visit, my first visit was over $600! I've NEVER paid that much to see an acupuncturist. Mind you, it was a package + herbs, but the herbs alone were about $300. And the way things were packaged, it felt like you were pushed into a series of visits costing from $2000+, which, again, I've never experienced before. It felt very sketchy. That said, Wesley and Tian seem solid, and I did notice improvement after. But for someone who's unemployed and broke, this is a luxury. I went to someone else in town who was more reasonably priced. If you're a first-time visitor to their practice, be aware that it's costly, and they push you into packages.
