Julie is a bit of a legend in the Sacramento postpartum world. If you ever get the chance, hear her speak about her work and the importance of taking care of our bodies postpartum. She speaks with such enthusiasm and expertise that you will want to soak up every piece of info you can. I was never an official patient of Julie's, but she provided a lot of reassurance, resources, and care to me over text and voicemail. If she'd do this for me, I imagine her actual patients are even more taken care of! I reached out to Julie while pregnant, and even though she mostly specializes in PT postpartum, she recommended some exercises to help with my hip strength. She also took the time to explain some pregnancy body changes 101 to me. Postpartum, I also reached out right in the middle of covid19. She explained her in depth cleaning practices and spacing between clients, all of which sounded very thorough. Expecting mamas, this is the appointment you never knew you needed. I am a medical provider (different specialty of course) and I still learned so much at my appointment. I saw Tybel and we went over some helpful exercises to control my sciatic pain, pelvic floor orientation, and pelvic floor therapy to prepare me for labor and to hopefully prevent tearing. She was good, gentle, and walked me through everything making me feel comfortable with full understanding throughout the entire appointment. It was a great way to learn to form the mind and body connection with my lady bits before giving birth for my first time. I was recommended to Julie by my midwives during my second pregnancy early last year. I wanted to strengthen my pelvic floor and become more in tune with my body and my pregnancy. I saw Julie multiple times during my pregnancy and after each appointment I left with my lightbulb turned on. She saw me during an emergency when I had sudden lower back pain. One appointment followed a somewhat traumatic event for me and she happily just massaged me so I could relax. I love Julie!! She helped me learn exactly how to relax every part of my body and prepare for birth. After birth, she realigned my organs, and I finally felt like I could take a deep breath! Just had my first therapy appointment this past Tuesday, June 30th 2020. It was a wonderful experience after a traumatic birth. Julie is fabulous and her student Lisa was just as wonderful. I came to Lady Bits after a horrific birthing experience and needed to get my body back into one piece. Julie was attentive, compassionate and a great listener. I'm a physical therapist assistant myself and finally being on the receiving end of therapy I was very happy after my visit. This review is long over due! I had my first child last year and was not prepared for the toll it would have had on body or pelvic floor. I was sleep deprived, confused, and just not feeling like myself. I felt as if I would never restore my pelvic floor or feel confident in my body. This review is long overdue...My pelvic floor therapy with Julie began last March. Immediately upon entering the room I was put at ease with her composure and concern. Dealing with pelvic floor pain is very personal and intimate. After reviewing my medical history Julie was confident and up for the challenge! After five major colon surgeries and two kidney surgeries spanning two years my pelvic floor was riddled with scar tissue. After each surgery I was told the surgeons had difficulty getting through the layers of scar tissue to get to the surgery sites. In addition, there was scar tissue from previous surgeries: bladder, appendectomy, c-section and hysterectomy. Major surgery can have a life long effect both physically and mentally and I was told by a number of therapists that my body was in "fight or flight" mode. Scar tissue was spreading in my pelvic floor restricting movement. Seldom is the pain and the scar located in the same place. My posture, skeletal structure, and body organs had kept me in pain and overall discomfort for two years. Scar tissue therapy is generally overlooked by health professionals, but not Julie. It is just one of her many passions and she is constantly learning and updating her knowledge on the latest manual therapy and tools to help her clients. She has been blessed with a special gift. When manually working and finding an area of pain her hands get extremely warm till the pain is slowly released. I am now seeing Julie twice week and I will be forever thankful for the level of care, empathy and professionalism I have received at Lady Bits. Julie makes sure Lady Bits is a positive, clean, caring environment and it's truly a pleasure spending time there to recover. She welcomes any questions and concerns which is refreshing. I am now able to get back into my Pilates and Yoga Nigra classes to help build my strength, core, and inner calm. Lady Bits Physical Therapy is truly a blessing! My therapist, Julie, helped me prepare for my first labor and delivery experience. We went through labor preparation, what to expect and techniques for effective pushing to prevent prolapse and tearing. After my few sessions I felt more prepared and ready for what my body was about to go through. We also reviewed what treatment would look like after labor and delivery using a few different scenarios. I knew that with Lady Bits Physical Therapy's help I would not have the same issues women talk about after having a baby...incontinence, painful intercourse, prolapse, etc. My therapist, Julie, was so gentle, understanding and most importantly always made me feel comfortable during my appointments and especially while talking about this very personal and vulnerable subject. Julie literally healed me after childbirth. After just one session, my scar tissue vanished, I had gentle exercises to do at home to get my core strength back, and learned how to reposition my organs (pregnancy really takes a toll!). I was lucky enough to see her for four sessions and we worked on everything from childbirth/pregnancy trauma, extremely tight muscles, getting my fascia back in the right place, and of course lots of healing for my lady bits!
