Colonial insulation sprayed my attic with spray foam in April 2025. Sometime during the summer, that AC wasn't working so called HVAC. They discovered crushed duct work and disconnected ducts, that had to be repaired. The attic was a frosty 67 degrees! I called Chris to address the problem. He declined to take care of the problem even after acknowledging that his crew did the damage. He would not pay for the repair since he wasn't called before the HVAC contractor fixed the problems. While they did a good clean job of insulating the attic, not taking responsibility or notifying me when it happened turned me sour. read more

One of the worst experiences I've had in my entire life with any type of contractor. The initial work done was so bad I could see outdoor sunlight through the "spray foam" work that they did. They got more spray foam on my furnace, hot water heater and water treatment system than they did on the walls. We also paid a lot for clean up and it was an absolute mess. I tried to get a manager to contact me afterwards and they never called back so I let them know I wouldn't be paying until the work was fixed. After 9 months, I got a message saying I owed the remaining balance and completely pretended never to see my other emails. The owner was extremely rude and sent me a threatening collections email full of lies and was extremely unprofessional considering the reason they never got paid was because his company did such a horrible job. In February 2025 Colonial management visited my property in Brookline NH and provided a quote to insulate the floors of my property. I signed a contract with Colonial and gave them a 50% deposit check and when they came out their crew stated they were unable to do the work. They initially agreed to refund the deposit however now refuse to refund my deposit and we are now in litigation. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR! Colonial Insulation management is incompetent, unethical, and make promises they have no intent to keep. read more

The job did not pass my city's inspection from Code Enforcement. Chris has ghosted me. The job is at a standstill and Chris refuses to answer a phone call, text or email. I do not recommend Colonial Insulation. He requires 50% deposit when Maine law allows for 1/3 deposit only. read more

They have a couple guys that do nice work Steve,Matt and his helper . The other workers damaged 2 interior walls the needed to be fixed (sheet rock,tapping,Repainted) the office manager doesn't do a good job communicating with employees nor clients . I notified Chris Nolte about the repairs to the second wall that they needed to be redone again and his response was to we're not going back there again!! I left 2 messages for the owner which I still haven't gotten a response but if you're in the market for fireproofing or insulation I would stay far away from this company ! read more

I had Colonial Insulation and Fireproofing give me an estimate on my small house. When the salesmen arrived I explained to him that I was contractor and have used closed cell foam on a few of my jobs. I knew there was a problem when he said he would put 5 1/2 inches of foam in the ceiling knowing that there was 2x6 rafters. I explained to him that you could not put 5 1/2 inches of closed cell foam in the ceiling because of the irregular surface it produces. and you can only put 5 inches in. He said your'e right. Long story short. When he gave me the estimate I was shocked to see how high the price was. In the estimate he put 5 1/2 inches of foam for the ceiling. I measured the job prior to him coming over so I knew how many board feet was needed for the job. He was over 400 board feet higher than what I measured. So either he screwed up his measurements or tried to screw me. I would put my money on the latter! read more

We were somewhat new to the area when we contracted with this company. Look, when we ended up having to consult a lawyer later, he told us that basically this guy is always screwing people over. They left the job without finishing basically because we put our foot down and didn't want to just keep cutting checks for shoddy work. Originally, we contracted another company at a friend's recommendation to insulate our house, but due to events beyond our control, they had to cancel the job, leaving my family in a difficult situation, and facing an non-insulated Boston winter. I found Colonial Green online, and after reading about them for 2 minutes, I gave them a call and explained my delicate situation. Chris empathized with me and agreed to meet me the following day at my house. We discussed options and I was immediately aware that he was a professional and completely trusted his expertise. He was able to fit my project in between commercial jobs, because he knew the importance of a warm house for a young family. The workers arrived and went immediately to work. They were personable, and extremely hard working. They did a beautiful job cleaning up the dust that was inevitable, and left the house better than they found it. After seeing how skillful they were at insulating our historical house (built it 1895) we also contracted them to use spray foam to insulate our basement. They, understanding that there would be harmful polyurethane spray involved, suggested that we wait until immediately before the holidays, to provide an opportunity for our family to be out of the house and not exposed to the fumes. This kind of personalized treatment, and circumspect understanding of our situation, is what sets Colonial Green apart from other companies. After seeing the finished product of both the basement, and the fact that my house is now warm throughout, I could not recommend Colonial Green more, and am so glad that things worked out in the way that they should. Colonial Green saved me in a time of desperation, and put me completely at ease, which is just one of the many services that comprise the great value that contracting them for this job was.
