Love Colonial Gateway Veterinary Center, I have never had an issue with them. I love that there are 2 locations, Gateway and Woolbright. Dr. Martin is the best ever, he is so attentive and focuses on what your concerns are about your furbabies! On this particular day, we met Dr. Alvarez, he must be a new associate. I'm usually comfortable with people who know my pup and what problems she has dealt with, but Dr. Alvarez was very kind and gave her the best car! She is definitely doing way better!

Dr. Rob Martin and his staff at Colonial Animal Hospital are kind, caring and considerate. Rather than trying to prolong the inevitable - while racking up a veterinarian bill - they finally talked some sense into me that it was "okay to let your cat go - you've done all you can do." My family recently said goodbye to Myrtle. After 14 good years, she joins her sisters Lily and Maxi across the Rainbow Bridge. Colonial Animal Hospital offered many options regarding Myrtle and after choosing one, they left me alone in the treatment room to say goodbye. A vet tech returned explaining that she was going to take Myrtle to another room and prep her. Moments later, Myrtle returned with a catheter inserted into the vein of her leg. Dr. Martin explained that before euthanasia is performed, a port is inserted to make it easy and stress-free to administer the injection. I'm not a doctor, but think I've explained this correctly. Basically, the older animals are harder to treat and installing the port helps with the process. I remember finding Myrtle living out of a trash Dumpster at the Davie-Cooper City Chamber of Commerce in 2003. I caught her, fed her, and brought her home. My wife complained as we already had two cats. We now had 3 cats - but no children. Back when the economy was good, she went to the vet on a regular basis - not so much so when the economy was bad and we couldn't afford it. My original thought was to have her fixed and remain an outdoor cat. That never worked out. Many years later, Lily and Maxi moved on and two new kittens joined the Lewis household. After they crossed the Rainbow Bridge, my 7-year-old twins Rebecca and William adopted Ash and Frost a few months ago. My kids love cats. My daughter Rebecca loved Myrtle the most, but it became a quality of life issue. A quality of life issue that Dr. Martin continued to suggest "the end is here." I finally took his advice. Sometimes you just have to ask yourself - "where would Myrtle be today if I hadn't rescued her from a trash Dumpster?" According to Dr. Martin, she never would have made it out of the Dumpster. I've never had a negative experience with Dr. Martin or his staff at Colonial Animal Hospital. Polite and friendly - they explain every procedure. From making the appointment, explaining any procedure or test, to the fees being assessed, I was fully informed every step of the way. As a small local practice, I was impressed and never had an unanswered question. William E. Lewis Jr. Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Always looks like this. Swollen crusted and no range of motion to stand ear erect

I brought my dog in for an ear infection. This was in midst of pandemic. Where people were losing jobs and money. As a family member loved I immediately took her in for a consult. She was treated a few months prior diagnosed with ear mites. Dr Vigo came to the car and after the examination was insistent that emergency surgery was the best solution for her severe ear infection. We scheduled for that following morning 9am. The anesthesiologists was a bit abrasive and unprofessional with the disruption of the conversation. Dr Vigo insisted that the surgery was the best method of treatment to resolve any reoccurring issues. There was no consultation of post operative outcomes such as a defaced cosmetic appearance of her ear nor was I advised that her ear would never be erect again. One week post op visit Dr Vigo kept asking me if I was providing all the post op meds, I responded yes all given. Dr goes into office returns to inform me she forgot to give me the anti inflammatory meds Tells me she'll give me 10%off due to her error. I kept her cone on did all as instructed. Only to have the condition be reoccurrent. I called in and questioned her ear's appearance and the doctor said it may or may not correct itself. And proceeded to state that she informed me. I told her that was not correct. I had to inquire so she immediately stated that it was necessary. Long story short I took her to another vet and they advised that not even dermatologist plastic surgeons make that surgical recommendation. The first treatment is aggressive steroid and antibiotic treatment. That they do not do that surgery and my poor girl will never have her ear straight again. I would refrain from this service provider. I feel that I was taken advantage of 650.00 down the drain. My new doctor did allergy tests and we know now what the root cause is and the appropriate treatment method. For less than what I was robbed for from Dr Vigo I feel awful for my girl. Although she's beautiful Dr Vigo has left my dogs ear completely deformed. If you are a single parent sole house provider and love your baby.Do Not seek treatment here. Get a second opinion because you may make a decision that will hurt your loved one. For someone's financial gain. O- KD

My puppy came home with this after 4 days of boarding there.. who knows what really happened there!!!

Without exaggeration and emotions, just Fact's-- We brought our 18 weeks french bulldog in for 4 days, the One and Only reason why we decided to keep him there instead of incomparably better dog resort Simmons Veterinary, was ability to pick him up on Memorial day (Simmons was closed) There we go: They said to bring His toys but NEVER mentioned that toys will be randomly everywhere, except His cage, we brought His bed, He had a anti fleece collar on (No ONE mentioned ANYTHING abt ANY type of "hazard" from collar. Now pick up day-- Attendant opened door like he was waiting for us, wow, but (it is always But!) When we brought puppy in, it wasn't a problem to go in and put him into his cage, not for the pick up. Attendant went in, came out in 4-5 minutes, it is a Long time, considering that the ONLY thing he did right is he brought out Right puppy, and yes He was Alive! ( sorry, that's two things) Puppy looked like he was zombie, zero emotions, He looked scared, it took us good 20 minutes to make him feel back to life. Attendant brought WRONG bed, collar was missing (missing till now) All toys were missing! As I said b4 Thank God, it was Right Puppy! Here comes excuses, the other attendant (of course) started from: It wasn't me, it was some other blah blah blah (we All know how it goes) The bed was wrong -because the right one, he brought after another 4-5 minutes research, was (ready?) washed, (it smelled like pee to me,don't know who's pee!) toys were recovered after another 3-4 minutes research from some office, for the reason (ready?) Hazard (probably puppy could've hang himself on the huge squeezing giraffe,or eat the chewing toy) well I wouldn't use it against him. What the hell are the toys for?! if they don't know that -Toys are the ONLY connection between puppy and Home, then they should work as a prison guards! As well as His bed, not some mature shepherd or rottweiler's bed, but His own Puppy bed from Home!!! Anti fleece collar was stolen and never recovered (not even in manager's office) as much as all attendants were playing "ping pong" throwing responsibilities on each other! Now if I tell you that this is not the end, would You b surprised... what we discovered when we reach home and gave our poor smelly boy shower (oops I forgot to mention, manager said "she gave him free bath" such a bs, puppy smelled like homeless) , was chocking, His chest area was all in red spots, I can't explain what is the origin but, (of course) not to be empty worded, we attached pic's. Puppy was house broken before spending 4 night's there, imagine-- He started to pee at home again... They ask you to give them a schedule, just so You will feel like they care, if Only they took him out ON TIME, He wouldn't pee and probably poop, in his cage, and now at home! This is not just a worst experience, this is Torture. Of course they will be doing the same thing over and over, they're will be bunch of ppl who will accept bs excuses from this place, instead of reacting on obvious malpractice, but together we can beat this concentration camp! Florida is a Beautiful place, there are plenty of great pet resorts, Do NOT Be Fooled as we were, place is horrible!

    Freshly groomed!
