I live in Manayunk and park on the street like most other Yunkers. A few weeks ago, I went to run errands only to discover that someone had hit my car, caused damage, and left. This is the second hit and run that's happened in 8 months, so needless to say I was beyond upset. While I was waiting for the police to show up, I was just sitting in the car. A guy came up to my window and asked if I was ok. I told him yes, it was a hit and run, and I was waiting for police. He told me he drove a tow truck (he wasn't in it, just walking around) and that they have a repair shop down the street. He was super nice and friendly, gave me their card, and I was grateful that there are still nice people in the world to check and make sure others are ok. The repair shop was Collision Star and after filing with the police and my insurance, I called them the next day. Having them close by was great because I knew I could easily get there and back without a car. I talked to them a few times throughout the week to deal with insurance, scheduling, etc. I planned on dropping it off the following Saturday - they told me they were open 9-11am. I got there right when they were supposed to open and no sign of anyone. About 15min later, the mechanics show up and tell me they have no clue where the office staff is but they should be there soon. They finally showed up at 9:30am. Filled out some paperwork, talked about the car for a few, and I was on my way. I talked to them the following Mon to see the status of the estimate. They had just submitted to my insurance and said as long as they approved that day, it would be ready by Friday. I was shocked - 4 business days?? But sure enough, on Friday my car was ready. I was very pleased with the speediness of the service. The last time I had a hit and run, my car was out of commission for a month. I asked again if they opened at 9am on Sat and they said yes, so I went to go pick it up this morning. Got there around 9:10am and it was the same thing - no sign of anyone. Mechanics showed up and they again didn't know where anyone was, but said they'd show up soon. 9:30am again, they arrived and were very apologetic. Apparently another appointment went longer than it was supposed to which caused the lateness. No issues picking up the car. It looked great and we briefly went over the repairs (which I had read on the estimate anyway). George and his wife are very pleasant and friendly, I felt very comfortable leaving my car at their repair shop. The repair shop itself isn't the prettiest of places, but it is your standard neighborhood repair shop. I can't thank them enough for getting my car back to me so quickly! And thanks again for your tow truck driver who was the one that got me there in the first place - great staff you have! I'm hoping I won't see you again soon though, I finally caved and got a paid parking spot... hopefully no more hit and runs! read more

Run! Do not let them tow your car or touch your car. They towed my fathers car. Held it for 8 days. Would not provide a written estimate after providing my email and making that request within 1 day. After 8 days and daily storage fees being applied I had another collision company tow the vehicle to their shop, Lloyds Collision, right down the street. Within 2 hours I had a written estimate and within a week I had the car beautifully repaired. Getting towed to Collision Star cost me hundreds of dollars, a week of wasted time, and a headache. It's giving SCAM. I discovered that my parked car had been hit pretty badly at 7:30 in the morning. I immediately called the police get a police report. And right behind the police came a man who interrupted my conversation with the officers and handed me a business card. He promised free towing and no deductible and waited for me to say that I would look into Collision Star before leaving. I had a Auto Accident on April 19 2022. Gentleman gave me a card for Collision Star and informed me they can Tow it to the Auto Body Shop for Free and they pay for the Rental. I informed him I had AAA he said they can tow it for Free. Sounds great considering my car was damaged. Went to the Collision Star to get a Rental they told me to call my Insurance or see if the other person Insurance company will pay for it (red flag I was told rental was Free) Note the person that gave me the Collision Star card was with me when I went to the Collision Star Auto body shop. My car was in the Collision Star Auto body from April 19 to April 29 until I decided to pick it because the person that hit me only had $5000 in Collision coverage my car damages was over $10,000. My car was in Collision Star only 11 days Total amount 1,105 $215 for Tow to the Shop (I was told Towing was Free) Administration Fee $110 Storage fee $50 per day plus 6 percent tax lol Lot fee $120 Labor $110 Note no work was done to the Vehicle Obviously I was shocked and I wasn't going to pay $1,105 so Mr Greg Hudson gave me a break lol for $800 FYI Lesson learned!! read more

Great company to work with especially with dealing with tough insurance company claims. I didn't think that they could make my A4 look respectable again , but they spent time and energy to make it look brand new. They also took my adjuster to task and got him to properly assess my car and not nickel and dime me. Got me into a rental and made the whole experience effortless. Collision Star isn't just a body shop either. They handled all the body and mechanic work on site. No third party to deal with or ship my car out to. They are going to be my mechanic of choice from here on until my car hits the old junkyard in the sky(they warranty any work they do for the life of the car as long as you still own it). read more

While driving on Ridge avenue in the Manayunk area, the driver of another car entering from a side street failed to observe a stop sign which resulted in their car colliding into the side of mine damaging both doors and the fender. Soon after the incident while me and my wife were still shaken up (an probably after the police was called) a man comes up to me and tells me about a collision repair shop that isn't too far from our location and offered to tow the car there if I was willing to have it repaired there. In the confusion of the moment, I quickly agreed. This was the only thing that seemed suspicious to me. How did he show up so quickly at the accident location, police scanner? While I initially did regret not thinking over my choice of repair shop, I'm now glad that Collision Star did the job. In short they are great. As soon as we got to the shop, Sharon, who is friendly, quickly handled all the insurance related work including calling the insurance companies and giving them all the information they needed. I only needed to speak to the insurance company to give them my statement. Although the tow truck driver told me about the possibility of the car being totaled (which was very likely given the age and make of my car), Tyrone inspected the car and told me it could be repaired, which gave me a glimmer of hope. Once we were finished with all the paper work we went back home. Once my insurance decided to repair the car, and over the next few weeks, Tyrone was very responsive and answered all my questions and kept me informed of the progress of the repairs. It had only been 4 months since I bought the car and had spent a lot of time searching for that particular model, so I was very concerned about the quality of the repairs. Once the repairs were complete, I had some concerns about fit and finish. While they were nothing major, Tyrone was very patient in hearing me out and immediately remedied them by having the shop perform additional work on the car. I even came back a week later because I head a noise at highway speeds, they quickly identified the noise as hidden damage from the accident and worked with my insurance company to replace the hub bearing. Collision Star did an excellent job of getting my car back to its pre-accident condition (and i think i'm a little nitpicky when it comes to my car). This place is horrible!...I warn anyone and everyone to not take their car here!. I took my car here to be repaired after an accident last year. I had to take the car back once a few weeks later after the first visit to fix the splitting paint on the car. I recently took my car to another body shop to paint my bumper and they found all of the prior damage to the car. None of the repairs were made and none of the parts were replaced. I was suppose to have a new rear quarter panel replaced on my car and they did not replace it. They charged my insurance company for the cost of the new part and the cost of labor for replacing the panel. Instead they did faulty repair work...filled my car with body filler and spray painted the inside of the panel black. They are not good people. This place is a chop shop. I will be taking legal action against them for this. They have committed INSURANCE FRAUD AND THEY WILL PAY FOR THIS!. I have more than enough proof that they did not do the proper repairs or replace the parts like they were suppose to. They were paid by the insurance company to do work that they did not do. They get a star only for customer service because they seem very nice on the phone, but they never call back when they say they will. Otherwise do not bring your car here. I had a quote for a week and a half but every time my insurance adjuster called the shop for the pick up date they extended it because "they needed to order more parts", and when the adjuster questioned it they said that they had already ordered them. My adjuster let me know they had spent an extra $800 on extra parts for my car and it has now been in there for over a month. Every time I call they say it will be done the next day but it never is. I now have to pay out of pocket for a rental and I am already out $200 because my insurance wont pay for rentals for over a 30 day period. 37 days later and I am still carless with a rental. read more

My wife and I had the unfortunate experience of having both of our cars vandalized while parked outside of our home. We were referred to Collision Star by a close friend and decided to have the cars repaired there. They guided us through the insurance claims process and got us set up in rental vehicles in a timely manner. Within two weeks, both of the vehicles were completed and returned to us in pristine condition. We were so impressed with their customer service and ability to swiftly repair our vehicles that we decided to have them do some mechanical work on both cars. Absolute WORST!! Car was taken there to be repaired and it took 3 months! THREE! and the vehicle is still not working properly. They told our insurance it wasn't due to their negligence but it 100% was! They never call back and ALWAYS pushed out completion date back which caused us to incur insane costs for a rental car because ours only covered 30 days. I wish I read reviews before leaving the car with them. They used after market parts thats needed to be replaced and our car had 6 different electrical issues that they needed to fix which took another 3 days after everything! car owners beware! DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM!! I was unfortunate enough to have to deal with these snakes/thieves following a small fender bender. The swindling began within minutes of the collision when their tow truck 'magically' arrived on the scene without my calling them. This is clearly indicative of an arrangement between the officer on scene and collision center. The tow truck operator was insistent and persistent in convincing me to allow him to tow the vehicle to his shop, regardless of the fact that I informed him I was currently on hold with AAA. He repeatedly assured me there would be no charge for the tow, no charge for the storage, no charge for any of the services as long as I had full coverage. I had just been broad-sided by a drunk-driver and being my first accident, needless to say, I was shaken up and uncertain of what to do. I hesitantly allowed him to hook up to my car with a STANDARD tow-truck (this will become significant in a moment), NOT a flat-bed truck. Once the car was set down on their location, they immediately confiscated my keys and began to "hard-sell" me on why I should allow them to perform the repairs (e.g.: "We do alot of high end BMWs", took me on a tour of their shop, "We know what we're doing", etc.) despite the fact that I informed them I needed to consult with my boyfriend prior to agreeing to any services. When my boyfriend arrived, he graciously thanked them for taking care of me, and informed them we had an alternative auto-repairman to whom we would be taking the car. The instant my boyfriend informed them of our decision, their demeanor became hostile and combative. They refused to relinquish the keys. They refused to cooperate and tow the vehicle to the repairman of our choice, and began to harass me by telling me how much better they could fix the car than the other guys as I waited for the AAA tow truck. When the AAA tow truck arrived, my boyfriend entered the office, and informed them we needed the keys. At that point, they told us we would be responsible for a bill of $460 for their "services". This fee included: $150 towing fee, $150 service fee, $60 storage fee, $40 wench fee, $60 admin fee. Now, recall the tow truck which hooked up on scene was a STANDARD tow truck, NOT A FLAT BED! In discussing the charges with an experienced tow truck operator, he informed me that if they didn't use a flat bed, they CANNOT charge a wench fee. Additionally, the $150 service fee was entirely fabricated, as they did NOT perform ANY labor on the vehicle! These people are SNAKES! They are CROOKS! They took advantage of me when I was vulnerable, and they knew EXACTLY what they were doing from the onset! They REFUSED to cooperate and held my vehicle hostage thereby delaying my visit to the Emergency Room! They are swindlers who prey on people to maximize their own profits! They operate with a swarm and conquer mentality and should you oppose them, they're going to make you pay for it! read more

No Stars deserved, the one is only because I had to add it in order to publish my post. I am devastated behind my experience with this company. While they present with a moderate amount of professionalism and kindness their work is extremely subpar and they have lost my trust forever. My car was repaired by them in June of 2013 (please note the date of my review). The accident that I was involved in left my car in a state in which there was a good amount of front end damage. The repair went far beyond the scope of time they quoted me and at the time I recall being very annoyed about it. As a result I placed several calls to them for status updates and most were answered with unfulfilled promises. I finally recieved my car back and somehow I was still left with a somewhat palatable taste in my mouth because I took my car to them again a few weeks ago for a minor collision repair. All seemed to go ok.... until my headlights stopped working. My inspection was also passed due so I figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone and have them look at the headlights as well as perform my inspection. I was not prepared for what ensued. I was called to the back and asked if I'd run over something or had my car towed. My response was, "no" to the running over something but yes to the towing. I explained that my car had been towed once in 2012 post a collision and once in 2013 post collision when they fixed it. The plot thickened. They commenced to show me 2 evenly distributed puncture/gouge marks in the steel frame beneath my car. I thought to myself, "what could one possibly run over to cause that kind of damage." That was just a bizzare train of thought to me. I was instructed by my family to leave the shop and to not allow them to continue working on my car at all. Fastforward, I take my car to the Cadillac dealer (where I should have gone in the first place) only for them to tell me what an awful repair job Collision Star had done on my car. They cut corners that only an inexperienced worker would cut and only an unscrupulous manager would oversee. The damages seem pretty steep. I am hurt, angry and disappointed by Collision Star's immoral business code. Please allow my post to serve as a warning to any potential clients. read more

George and crew were very professional from the very start and basically bent over backwards to get my car fixed quickly. They also worked with the local enterprise to make the transition to the rental car seamless and did a great job managing the other party to take care of the costs. I heard that George recently took over the business from the previous owner so I would disregards any of the previous negative posts. The people at Collision Star made sure I was in a rental when I needed one and even worked with the insurance company of the guy who hit me to make sure they would cover my rental. In my 20 years of dealing with businesses this is absolutely the worst experience I've ever had. I have never encountered a business with such terrible customer service and integrity. There is little to no timely or honest communication with this business. I had been guaranteed by the business certain expenses would be covered and not accrued to myself personally. I have only found myself still without my vehicle after three months with no guarantee date of completion and stuck with hundreds of dollars in expenses that the business guaranteed me they would cover. They also lied to me and my auto insurance adjuster about the availability and timing of parts. It was not until I and my adjusted contacted the dealership directly that we were told the parts were available in stock and could be delivered within a days time. However, Collision Star told myself and the adjuster that the parts were on back order with no time frame available for stock. When I was in the initial accident while I was waiting for my own car insurance tow service to arrive a man approached me and said he had a tow trunk and tried to talk me into using his service and that it would be towed to this business. I was apprehensive but given how shook up I was I agreed. When my car was initially towed there I felt pressured to keep my car at that location by the business and to undergo the repairs at that location but I should have gone with my gut. There are a lot of younger residents in manayunk and I only caution my fellow neighbors do not agree for anyone other than going through your insurance company to tow your vehicle and do not use a shop that is not certified or approved by your insurance company or by the better business bureau. In reading the numerous negative reviews and complaints about this business I can tell I'm not alone. Consumers dealing with auto accidents are already under enough duress they should not be deceived and taken advantage of by businesses. I'm disappointed this business still has their license to operate in the city of Philadelphia as this is not the type of operation I want representing the economic fabric of my community. And the decade I have spent working with small businesses in Philadelphia this is the first I've encountered such an operation. Both personally and professionally I am committed to interests of our residents and consumers Of our city to be protected. DO NOT GO HERE! I recently had a dent put in my car when a 6'8" 230lb man decided to "shove" my car. he put a decent size dent in the car but nothing major in my opinion. I went to Collision Start explaining my situation to them. I told them that this car was simply a winter car that I didn't mind a ding or two in. I was in no way trying to make the car perfect again as I realize it would likely cost a lot of money. The man "helping" me went on to explain what they do to fix dents and how they do it. Again I stated to him that I don't need anything perfect. Just the dent taken out. He gave me a quote of $700+. When I explained to him that I was hoping for something more simple around $100-200 he laughed and said there's no way that could be done. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and buy an AS SEEN ON TV product called Dent-Out. Now I've never been one to buy those types of products but i figured for $35 it can't hurt to try. So I did...and the statement of "there's no way that could be done" turned into "it just got done". I understand this company trying to make a living. And I also understand wanting to do a "perfect" job on the car. but if I can buy a product online for $35 and it would've cost them $700 to fix the same dent...something is wrong. I'm not giving them 1/5 stars because of their work...as I've never actually had work done by them. I'm giving them 1/5 stars (because really I can't give them 0/5) because they made no attempt to do what I had asked them to do and please the customer...they wanted to push their ideas on me and charge me $665 more dollars for no reason. I took my car there after an accident and I though they did a great job until I happen to have a dealership look at the work and they told me that the parts that Collision Star used were After Market and used parts. They also told me that some of the work that should have been done in this type of repair wasn't done and that Collision Star was getting away with it because it isn't obvious to a consumer just looking at the car. He then suggested that I check with my insurance company to see if I was charged for new parts or After Market parts. My insurance confirmed that Collision Star charged for new parts!!!
