Do not rent from this place. I moved in in 2020 when the pandemic hit. After the pandemic starting taking its course, apartments are super hard to find so I felt lucky enough to have found this cheap place. Rent was only $595 at the time! At the time, it was owned by Mission Properties and they were wonderful. However they eventually got bought out by TruStar Properties.
Anyways, I got married in November of 2020 and naturally I moved my wife in because that's what married people do. People do it all the time! After I moved her in, my animal suddenly became an issue. Mind you, my dog wasn't allowed on the property and I took responsibly for this for violating my lease and I completely understood that. I know I was wrong for that one. I received what was called a "write up" like I was an inmate in jail. I was able to provide my ESO documentation for my animal and that was that. I was forced to disclose my mental health issues and I didn't feel good about it.
It wasn't long before I was harassed again about my wife this time. I was told I was violating my lease once again and she either needed to leave or submit an application. So that's what I did. We turned one in around March 2021 and now in April 2021, I was told my wife's application was denied due to her bad credit score. I have paid my rent every single month on time. My wife and I both have really good jobs working for KCSO and have had these jobs for 3 years. I offered an additional deposit, extra monthly rent, or something so they can help me out. My wife and I literally work for 12-16 hours 3 to 4 times a week. All we do is eat, sleep, and repeat. We don't bother anybody, nobody bothers us, we don't party, we don't drink, we don't have guests over, etc. we've never had the cops called on us. Suddenly the owner of this property, after pleading my case, wants all tenants to have a 700+ credit score. I have over a 700+ credit score, unfortunately my wife does not. I found this extremely hard to believe considering we are still going through a pandemic and almost everyone lost their jobs unless they were considered essential, which my wife and I are essential employees. I will never understand how a property would not negotiate with their tenants and would want to lose a good pair of tenants and kick them to the curb. The on-site management does everything she can to harass whomever she sees out and about. Have friends over? Too bad, this ticket Nazi will straight up tell you that you can't park in the gated areas of the parking lot if you haven't reported the type of car you have. Maintenance requests take forever for them to do. Lots of homeless wondering around daily; I have yet to see anybody get their vehicle broken into however I wouldn't be surprised if that does happen due to two hours in the early morning where the lights are not on. The gated areas are suppose to close but they have yet to fix this. The carpet is super cheap and the water here smells like chlorine.
Do not rent from here if you are of homosexual orientation because you will get harassed, you will get treated unfairly, and you won't get the opportunity to rest easy. Now with all of this going on, my wife and I will be homeless and they don't have a care in the world. Do not rent from TruStars Properties or College View Apartments. The "nice" pool the advertise? It has been empty my entire stay here. read more
