I've been to this cafe a few times now with a friend for lunch. She works down the road at Lewisham College so the Cafe makes for a really handy place for a quick catch-up and throw the diet out the window lunch!
The lovely guy who works here in the week is so friendly, attentive (but not overly so) and always greets you with a smile.
There's many a greasy spoon in London with good staff, tasty breakfasts and fare you'd expect from a road side cafe, but there's such a warm, homely feel to this place that it makes you look forward to going back (even if it is in January when officially you're still supposed on your new resolution health-kick - oops!). Prices are pretty good too - 80p for a cup of tea and £4.10 (inc. tea/coffee) if you have the omlette, beans and chips deal - which we had today and it just hit the spot! The only caution I would raise is I don't know if the eggs are free range. I meant to ask before I ordered, but got side-tracked - I sincerely hope they are, but I'll definitely check before ordering the omlette again, just in case.
Service is quick and even at busy lunch time periods, you can get served and be in and out within the hour.
If you're in the area and suffering from a hangover or just looking for somewhere for a quick bit to eat at anytime of day I'd recommend this place. Also, there is very little choice in terms of places to eat in this area, so although basic, it's better than buying a sandwich in Tesco. Support your local shops, that's what I say! read more
