Its not often i take the time to do a review but on this occasion I just have to. I was working in…read moreLondon for the week and found just by chance a 1st class cafe named The GMT. So at 06.30 in the morning I opened the door and walked in and found a spotless and clean dining area so I went to the counter and ordered a coffee and for just £1.30 it was one of the best coffee"s I have had for many years. I also noticed the kitchen and food preparation area behind the counter was also very clean. So on my break i went back with a work mate for a cooked breakfast, the service was spot on fast and efficient and the food was of a really high quality and cooked perfectly and there is loads on the menu to choose from. The staff are friendly and polite and i could see they take a pride in running a good clean top notch restaurant / cafe. I would without a doubt if I lived any where near the GMT Cafe not only eat there on a regular basis but would be happy to take my family there for a meal. And if i happen in the future to be working in the Greenwich area then I will most definitely be eating at the GMT Cafe again. Posted by Keith from Suffolk.

My husband and I stopped here last night and got settled on the comfy couch with our chi. I ordered the green refresher to start (lime, honey and soda water) and he an Aperol Spritz. I got the Chardonnay then and was pleasantly surprised how dry and smooth it was. Our food arrived shortly: my butternut squash and feta flatbread and his sweet peppers and mozzarella on sourdough. I was surprised how my dish was presented as I expected one large piece of flatbread with feta and squash atop. Instead the squash and flatbread are cut into chunks presented on the wooden serving plate with the feta serving as a dipping sauce. It's an easily shareable portion size so I'm kinda of a piggy in eating nearly all of it. But the squash chunks were roasted perfectly. It was delicious as was the creamy feta. My husband said his dish was good as well but mine was definitely the star. The only downer was the brownie: it looks great and fudgy but is nothing special. The place has eclectic furnishings, with lots of cool events happening frequently. Definitely a worthwhile addition to SE!

And my first visit to Piggy's Cafe made the trip even more enjoyable and rewarding. After perusing through the wonders of the fish market, stopping off in Piggy's Cafe seemed like the right thing to do.We'd compared, we'd (tried to) haggle, and now we just fancied a sit down before heading home and going back to bed again - we'd left the house at 4:30am. We both knew what we wanted, and seeing as we were surrounded by thousands of fresh fish goods, we were certainly going to order fish in here. I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Creamcheese bagel (£3.00) and Joe ordered the Scallop and Bacon Bagel (£3.50). We could have ordered a lovely cuppa, but didn't want any caffeine effecting our sleep we knew we would be having in a few hours. You order at the kitchen, and then wait for your food at the table you've chosen to sit at. The buzz and the atmosphere in this place is mesmerising; I found myself looking at every detail of this cafe and loving it all! The customers, the staff, the food, the drink, the noises - it was great! It was amusing to see 2 Weetabix in milk being served to an elderly fish seller, especially after being in the microwave. Just how my mum used to make it for me! There was also a gentleman eating sliced banana on toast! I've never seen that outside of a home, and would never expect it to be served in a cafe. Piggy's, you continue to impress me! Our food came quick enough, and boy was it tasty! My smoked salmon did taste fresh, and it was fishy too, in a good way obviously! I knew the bagel wouldn't be as delicious as those from Brick Lane, but it was surprisingly firm and doughy either way. Joe's Scallop and Bacon Bagel was greasy but good! Salty but good too! Check out my pictures. Other things on the menu, that we glanced at, were the Haddock Breakfast, your classic Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs, and then the Scallop Melt. I think I saw someone with this Scallop Melt, and it involved cheese and scallops, and maybe some scrambled eggs and bacon mixed in there too, yum! Overall, Piggy's Cafe is a number one joint to visit. I'm sure their fry ups are delicious, and I would love to go back to try something else on their menu. I'd dip, sip and tip at this fishy (in a good way!) joint! Menu not available online, but their telephone number is: 0207 987 1068
