This adorable little coffee shop is beautifully quirky and everything I was looking for on a Sunday morning. The arty decor with the decadent red couches and the vinyl records creates a very relaxing atmosphere and the beverages complete the cosy feeling that gets created. The hot drinks are served in pretty vintage looking cups and they taste great. The staff were very friendly as well and happy to help. I enjoyed the general atmosphere inside the shop and I would gladly go back if I'm in the area again. read more

We stopped for a coffee, tea and a snack. The place is lovely and we ate outside. The coffee was excellent. My wife enjoyed the tea and the outside seating was simply British. It is what you may imagine a cafe would be in the English countryside. My wife had a blueberry lemon cake and I had a scone with strawberry jam. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was perfect. It is a cash only establishment, so make sure you have currency with you. read more

Cute little cafe tucked right infront of Greenwich Market. They serve homemade cakes, sandwiches and hot beverages. They offer gluten and vegan options. I had the almond hot chocolate and gluten free lemon polenta cake which tasted divine. I originally wanted the decaffeinated coffe but they unfortunately ran out. The staff were amazing, and they had awesome retro music played in the background. read more

"Um, excuse me but, WHERE THE BLOODY HELL IS THE REST OF MY CAKE?!" ....is what I should have said when The World's Most Measly Slice of Chocolate Cake was finally delivered to our table. Unfortunately, I was overcome by that very British acceptance of suffering in the name of sparing momentary embarrassment. £3.50....THREE POUNDS FIFTY for a slice so small not even a Borrower could bounce on it. And, I'm sorry to say, but the two and a half mouthfuls I tasted weren't even good. Possibly the least chocolatey chocolate cake I've ever tried. The icing was nice but the rest was buh-land. I wanted to love this place, I really did - especially after I refused to go to Costa despite my friend's pleading - I'd insisted that we should support the independents. It's pretty, quirky, unusual... and I can accept the slow service considering the place was full - but what I can't accept is the disgusting waft of a freshly laid turd coming from the toilet! Firstly...who craps in a cafe that small? It's just rude. Go to McDonalds or Starbucks or somewhere where people deserve to gag on your poo particles. Secondly...having tables so close to where someone 'does their business' can't be hygienic? After Cake-gate 2012, I tried to chill out with my Dr Stuart's tea but had to dash, hand-to-nose, after the stench became too much. The staff were nice despite being busy, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to make up for the meagre portioning and sewagey scent. Soz! read more

Latte-bot. The bourgeois Decepticon. This place bills itself as an art gallery. But when you step inside it will strike you as more of a jewellery shop. If you look really closely, however, you'll see it's actually a gem of a coffee shop. The Greenwich market is very cute. But Greenwich is Nappy Valley - seriously, it's like the straight couples are going at it hammer-and-tong in order to maintain the birth rate in the face of a large gay community - and push chairs don't mix well with busy little markets. Red Door is a welcome oasis of calm and caffeine, where you can rest your weary feet and rub your pram-bashed shins. The "sitting room" - out back behind the counter - has a wonderfully shambolic collection of comfy sofas, and the Art Garfunkel-eqse owner will serve you a wicked coffee and some decadent cake. The almond macaroons are particularly good. And the narrow staircase seems to ward off most of the breeders and their wheeled offspring. read more

Cute, tiny, and artsy coffee shop near the Greenwich Market serving a variety of cakes and their "award-winning" gluten-free brownies. The service was nice but sometimes absent-minded. The cakes (we tried carrot and coffee-walnut cakes) were decent albeit a tad too sweet, but the brownie was so-so (more like fudge). We got a pot of tea for 2 and chai latte. Tea was good as usual, and the chai latte was also a bit too sweet (perhaps due to the latte-cake combination). It was a 3.5-star experience, but I like to support local business. read more

I can't believe I'm not the first to yelp this. =( But, its worth it. After you do your little hike to the meridian, stop by this coffee / cake shop near the Greenwich market. My bf had the vanilla milkshake for 2 pounds (a small glass, but rich, creamy, and really good). I had the cream tea for 4 pounds -- the pot held 3 cups of good tea, the scone was made that morning (and slightly warmed before serving), and it came with really nice clotted cream. A perfect pick me up after an exhausting day. read more

This was a lovely little coffee shop, it's very quirky with mismatched furniture and tea cups and homemade cakes (including some vegan ones), it is very small and quite awkward to get around the furnishings. The service was SUPER slow when we were there, although it didn't seem hugely busy they did only have 2 people serving. We weren't in a hurry and were happy to wait, but what was strange was that our party of 4 who all ordered together got all food (crumpets, scones, hot sandwich) in pieces, so when we prompted them about an item thinking they had forgot they were quite abrupt with us. It's not cheap in Red Door, but it is pretty. It erm, has a red door and it's where I buy all my presents for all of my favourite people. It smells great in here too. I don't know what of. But it's better than cheap insense. You can buy lots of girly tat in here - jewellery, bags and stuff you don't need but will clutter up your rooms and confuse boys. Perfect. They also have the best notebooks in the world. Hand printed and hardback and the perfect sizes. Yes they're expensive, but I'm a writer by trade so I'll pay the price. If you sneak past the (surprisingly cute) little dog, you'll find a tiny little art gallery. For no reason. Other than the fact that Red Door prides itself on its support of local artists. Yes, it might be expensive, but you know you're getting something beautiful and original. Even if you do have to pay £18 for an egg cup. read more

Lovely laid back tiny cafe with, wait for it, a choice of vegan cakes on offer along with the standard fair. As I have a dairy allergy I'm always delighted when coffee shops have cake I can eat and this place had 2 on the Sunday afternoon I visited. I enjoyed the lemon and blueberry while my partner had the chocolate. He's not vegan, but enjoyed the cake anyway. I also had their vegan hot chocolate which was creamy (made with almond milk) but intensely chocolatey and not too sweet. A real vinyl disc was playing on a turntable deck - I thought it was decorative at first until I saw the guy change the LP! read more

Tiny little tea and cake shop but packed with so much charm. The two gentlemen who were serving us (Edward and I don't recall the other's name) were very helpful and honest about wait time due to how busy they were. For tea we had the Assam and Very Berry - both good. My daughter got a hot chocolate which was amazing. For cake, we got a brownie, Coffee walnut, and the carrot cake. A Cafe experience with a twist in the heart of Greenwich ...Since moving to Greenwich more than two years ago, "Red Door Cafe" has become my place where I can be myself, feel at home and just relax. its quirky interior makes me smile each time I walk through the door. It isn't much to look at. But it warm, rustic, and has amazing hot chocolate! They serve hot chocolate the way it should be. Nice and rich and not some cheeky instant variety. The server was okay. He was just mad busy and trying to keep up. read more

In the forest of teapots, in the land of Red Door; Underneath the greater luminary (the 70's paper light shade) and the lesser luminary (the ornate pre-victorian one), my husband and I did eat 2 sandwiches (one each) and a slice of chocolate cake. The cake was light and fresh with no pretensions of 'death by'; and gratifyingly 2 different types of icing (one within, one out) both meltingly soft. Service was also quirky and fun. No pretensions.
