It really is such a gem tucked away in the city in a very humble and simple outdoor shopping center, but certainly worth stopping by :) ! I had Googled the best souvenir shops close to my hotel and "So El Paso" popped up on my search ! I am so glad I stopped by here because they truly have some of the most thoughtful and meaningful gifts you can give anyone, whether you are a local to the area :) ! Or whether you're like me - a tourist who wants to bring back something thoughtful and meaningful to family and friends back home in CA :) ! I specifically wanted quality souvenirs that are really unique to the area or region :D ! I met the owner and also one of her employees :) ! Both of them were really friendly and warm ! The owner told me that she is originally from El Paso, but had lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for about 20 years before coming back to El Paso :) ! If I had heard correctly, I believe her employee told me that this store has been open since 2020. I purchased some Mexican candied cocoa pecans, some churro cookies, and some margarita powder mixes :D ! I purchased some Mexican spice cocoa pecans, some churro cookies, and some margarita powder mixes :D ! So far, I have only tasted the Mexican spice cocoa pecans, which are delicious :) ! I haven't tried the churro cookies and the margarita mixes yet :) ! But I plan to gift some of these to family and friends :) ! They also have nice holiday gift sets that are beautifully wrapped and ready to gift :D ! When I was shopping there yesterday, there was a customer there who seemed to be ordering in bulk for a group of people :) ! She was carefully choosing items to purchase as she was conversing with the owner :) ! So for sure, these are wonderful items you can gift to individuals or huge groups :D ! They also sell prints and paintings by local artists. What's even better is that it's a local business (well how could it not be?)! Every time I've gone, the employees are super friendly and helpful. I always end up talking and talking with them. Another thing I like about Chuco Relic is that they help the community often. I should say they also try to help people in our state! Back when Hurricane Harvey happened in Houston, they raised money for them by selling merchandise. I recently purchased an El Paso Strong t-shirt from them for $10. I pre-ordered it so it came out to $10 less. I'm always excited to help local businesses succeed, especially when they help others here and around Texas. If you're looking for an El Paso-inspired gift, this is a good place to go.

EP Finest is located downtown right across from San Jacinto (not Anson 11 side). It is a very small brick and mortar place that houses pieces / collections from over 30 different El Paso artists. One of which we met at our annual trip to the El Paso Comic-Con. She had a lot of art on display, and it was very well done. However, it's Comic-Con, so a lot (not us) were in Cosplay, including the artist. Sue was dressed as Nadja, from What We Do In The Shadows, which happens to be one of our Top 5 shows of all time. And not only was she dressed as Nadja, but she had a very well done portrait of Nadjas husband, Lazlo Cravensworth. That happens to be my favorite of the entire show. A must have for my office / nonsense room in my house. She offered a great deal, where you could purchase 3 "prints" (so printed versions of her original works), for $45. So, I bought Lazlo, Dwight/Angela/Moes, and a Sailor Moon one. We came to EP Finest to pick up the prints id purchased. Nice little store. Nice local art. Worth checking out for sure.

Usually there is only one register open and unless the "head" cashier stops stocking and opens a register or calls for back up you are stuck in the "return register line". I only go there because it is five minutes from my house and when I have finished all my other errands, as I know I will be in line longer than it takes me to find the item I need. Sometimes I will go to the Tuesday Morning next door to shop for scrapbook and craft items. I often luck out and then I don't have to go to HL. There is a Dollar Tree in the same center and I can go there and get glue sticks and such quicker. One of the managers wanted to make sure that my rain check items were being ordered, as it was 6 weeks before the 6x8 ring binder and refills showed up on the shelves! I told him that I could order them online, but the shipping is as much as one of the items! To me the 'company' philosophy and logistics may be the problem. All three stores did not have the refills and ring binders from November to end of January, BUT these items were available on line. I ask one employee at one of the stores if they were no longer available. She said she orders them every week, but the warehouse does not ship any. So are you ignoring El Paso customers? Obviously, you may have more than one warehouse.....so why could I get them online but not at the stores? El Paso Hobby Lobbies are wonderful as we have had nothing comparable for years, but I am in heaven when I go Arizona (Tucson area) or Houston/Galveston area to visit. The choices in some product areas are phenomenal. Here in El Paso I often have to go to the west HL off Mesa St. to get picture frame hardware and other items not carried on the east side stores. Good things: all cashiers at all three locations are always friendly and helpful; never have witnessed the clerk getting irritable EVEN WHEN the customers have become nasty while waiting SO long. From worst to best for customer check out: Viscount, Loop 375, Mesa. BEST things: at Mesa and Loop 375 stores, design of entry protects customers and employees(cashiers) from our nasty winds, dust, cold. Viscount NEEDS THIS! I went into the store and Brie/Brianna didn't even have the common courtesy to say "Thank you". My son picked up our packages, he says thank you and no response from Brianna. Fine, don't thank me, a paying customer, but if someone says thank you, a person working customer service should always thank the customer. What is it with these young people that feel they are so entitled and it should be our duty to serve them! I'm glad I have taught my son better manners!
