The absolute worse experience. Would not recommend to anyone. Not only are you always waiting an hour + to be seen they will lie to you and take no responsibility. I'm doing self pay and by the end of the first trimester I paid the first fee of $3,333 cash. Every time before I got bloodwork I asked what was included and what would be out of pocket. Erica even wrote down what I had to pay(below) and said everything else would be included. There was NO miscommunication, I was very clear when asking what I would have to pay before the blood work was done. After being charged extra multiple times, I decided to switch care. I received three invoices for bloodwork, two for over $80 and one for $171. When I called Erica to ask why I got sent these she acted just as surprised as I was and reassured me that would be it. Three weeks later I got an invoice for $900!! Absolutely insane, I was never told about a $900 blood test. When you're pregnant and vulnerable you want care that you can trust in every aspect. I was lied to over and over again about what was included and what was out of pocket. At this time, I already paid Dr. Colin's 3,333 for the first trimester fee. I only had 2 app so that meant I paid $1666 per appointment. I figured there was some credit owed. Instead, Dr. Colin's decided to keep the money for herself and said there were no refunds. She said my only option was to come in for a third app which was unnecessary bc I already switched care. That would mean each app was 1,100. I told her I'd rather her pay the 900 blood test which was suppose to be included instead of coming in for a third app. Again, Dr. Colin's would rather keep the money for herself and said the third app was my only option. I was lied to repeatedly and taken advantage of. They don't care about you if you're pregnant they only care what they can get out of you. Dr. Colins seems to have made some changes to her practice so I wanted to update my review. I've experienced really long wait times in the past, but last time I went I only waited about 30 mins total from arrival to procedure which is pretty typical for a doctors office. There's also been some changes in staff and the new office person was very friendly and professional. I usually don't write negative reviews about doctors but I had to speak my truth so that people can be well informed and know the truth about Dr. Collins... The one and only time I actually saw Dr. Colins was for an annual exam. I waited TWO FULL HOURS after my scheduled appointment time to see her, which was such a waste of my time. When I actually saw her, she started pushing every imaginable type of birth control on me and wouldn't listen to me when I told her that I am very sensitive to trying higher doses of hormonal pills. Well, somehow she convinced me to get on another birth control pill to control my endometriosis pain that was in fact a higher dose than what I'm used to and I ended up in the ER with what I originally thought was a stroke. I woke up after day two of taking this birth control going blind in one eye and with a cluster headache. Dr. Colins costed me an expensive ER trip that could've been prevented if she just would've listened to me instead of rushing to get me out of her office I informed her staff that I did not want to see her again and they still blew up my phone suggesting that I get the gardasil vaccine. This doctor is bad news and just wants your money. Dr. Colins only cares if you're pregnant or want surgery. Try looking elsewhere and steer clear of this woman. read more

I have been to see Dr. Colin 3x in the last 2 months, and every time I've had to wait over an hour, in the room, half naked. The office staff does not check in on you, give you an update or let you know what is the hold up. Today after waiting almost an hour I put my clothes back on and left. It's completely disrespectful of my time, just because she is a Doctor does not make her schedule more important than mine. Also, they send you an excessive amount of texts and emails leading up to your appointment and then when you get into the office they want you to fill out a ton of paperwork. Did I not do that in advance to save time? Today they also asked me to put a CC on file. I will recommend Dr. Colin to EVERY mommy-to-be I meet. Her genuine and detailed approach with your care makes all of the difference. During my pregnancy I had a few complications towards the end, during labor, and post pardum that Dr. Colin closely monitored and treated including pre-eclampsia. I felt comfort in her calm and positive presence, confident in her experience and education in her field, and lastly I was grateful that she took as much time as she did to ensure the health of my child and myself. If you want a Doctor that goes the extra mile, Dr. Colin is for you. The only precaution, and downside to an amazing doctor is the wait time. Since you are waiting, along with everyone else in the lobby, to see the same medical provider, it will sometimes take 60+ to get into a room for your appointment. Just plan your appointments around time or days off work. In my opinion, it was well worth the wait. In fact, I would have waited longer, knowing she was my doctor. To preface this review, I am not a fan of writing bad reviews, but it is essential to share my experience, mainly since I also researched for a new OBGYN (It is important!). I saw Dr. Colin back in late 2020 regarding my Nexplanon. I came in for a consultation and had to wait almost an hour in one of the patients' rooms, only to be seen for 15 minutes. Afterward, I had my second appointment in 2021 to get it inserted (and was told that my insurance would cover it). I got charged for tests I did not ask for, which I still paid out. I thought everything was done until I went to my new OBGYN last year, and I mentioned that the rod felt uncomfortable (esp. during exercises) but manageable. I was then told that my Nexplanon was inserted incorrectly as it was too close from under my skin. Since this was my first time getting it inserted in my arm, I figured it was just a minor inconvenience as part of the implant surgery. That being said, it was immediately removed and replaced right away. I just thought I would move on from this, but I got charged with another bill in February with no context until I got a hold of her accounting team, which put a sour taste in my mouth. I've called my insurance and was told that the accounting team mistakenly added the wrong billing codes and that they would need to resubmit it for payment which did not happen for over two months. After following up multiple times, getting a bunch of reminders to pay the bill, and being ignored by their accounting team, my insurance contacted their front office to let them know they would handle the readjustment of the billing themselves and that it would be paid out. This long and frustrating process has made me feel like there needs to be more care for the patients and finances in the backend. read more

I STILL absolutely LOVE Dr. Colin and have been with her for many years now including the birth of my first child and now going through my second pregnancy. She does sometimes have a bit of a wait but I have found it easy to just call ahead and ask if she's running late so I know whether to head there a little later or not. She's so thorough and does not rush you at all which is why she tends to run late some days because she lets you ask any and all questions or concerns you may have versus rushing you out the door. Fast forward several years later and thanks to COVID, I was sent email spam from Dr. Colin's office... which reminded me that I have an update for how my story ends. My final visit some years ago with Dr. Colin ended with her pushing me toward hysterectomy for fibroids. I sought a second opinion with Dr. Michael Johnson at UCLA, who told me surgery was not necessary and instead, placed me on continuous oral contraceptives. I remained on them through menopause and - not only did it minimize the bleeding from the fibroids, but it made menopause a breeze. 3 years out, I'm doing just fine - no surgery necessary, contrary to the dire predictions of Dr. Colin. So yeah. Go to Dr. Johnson instead, he's got a great bedside manner and unlike many OBGYNs, he takes an interest in you even if you're not pregnant or trying to be. read more

I've been to Dr. Caroline Colin nearly 10 times over the last year and each time has been a wonderful experience. Her front office staff is always kind and organized. Dr. Colin is very caring and I feel like I've received the highest quality care possible. She listens intently and explains things very clearly and in detail. She spends a lot of time with each patient and she's always up to date with your medical history (unlike other healthcare offices where you barely see the doctor). If you find yourself waiting to see her, just keep in mind that it's likely because she's spending extra care with a patient, and she'll show you the same courtesy. Searching for a new doctor for my pregnancy, that's when I found Dr. Colin. Her care and attention to my needs were met. Her office is always nice and clean. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, even with an appointment but I don't mind because at the end of the day she is a fantastic obgyn! During my labor she was great. I called her when I was starting my contractions and she said once I was on my way to the hospital to give her a call. I did just that. I arrived at 11am and didn't give birth to my little one until 10pm. She did need to intervene and break my water, which I asked for. I also asked what is the procedure, and she explained everything perfectly to me. I was pushing the baby out for 4 hours. Once it got closer to probably the last hour, that's when she was there to receive my little girl. She was just so wonderful thought out my labor, delivery and discharge from the hospital. I cannot recommend her more highly. I hope I can have her as my doctor for when I have another baby. Unless I move, this is where I'm keeping my care. read more

I can't overstate how negative my experience with this doctor's office has been. I was told by Dr. Colin that I was a good candidate for BRCA screening as breast cancer runs in my family. Her staff drew my blood and told me I would be receiving a call from them or the lab letting me know my options from there. Instead, the test was processed without consulting me on cost, and the lab Dr. Colin's office chose was out of network for me (why they chose it, I don't know). I have been dealing with this since June, calling my insurance and the lab to tell them both that I never approved the test. They want to charge thousands of dollars for it. Now, the lab has asked me to submit an appeal to my insurance because they believe the request wasn't handled properly, and I see that the doctor's office submitted my information to the lab and my insurance with my name spelled completely incorrectly. Is this the source of all the confusion, or at least some? Probably. Stay far away from this practice. They're sloppy and negligent and have caused me more headaches than I can count. Update: My insurance company informed me that they never even received the medical necessity form or medical records from the doctor's office. The doctor's office insisted today that they were given the wrong fax number-- if they had bothered to follow up after trying to fax it (3 times) they would have known it was not received. They then tried to pin the incorrect spelling of my name on me, the patient, saying that I could have changed it in my patient portal. I was not aware of this at all, and I asked them to change it manually as soon as I realized it was spelled incorrectly. Unfortunately forms have already gone out to the lab and my insurance with the misspelling and I am still not sure if they will be processed correctly. A nightmare-- avoid at all costs. read more

Calls doc and then tells me she is at an appt with her lawyer; won't be in until after 9. You were going to have me sit there naked for an hour? You knew you had an appt. with me at 8! I say I will wait; they tell me that they actually can't do the IUD today because of where I am in my cycle. My cycle didn't change from when I made the appt. so why didn't you discuss that then. Luckily all this happened because I went to a different doctor and found out: 1) My insurance COVERED the entire IUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2) It could be inserted at anytime in your cycle. As the previous reviewer so accurately stated, Dr Colin is truly exceptional. She recently delivered our first son and I cannot say enough positive things about both my prenatal and delivery experience with her. As someone hoping to have a natural vaginal birth with minimal interventions in a hospital setting, I was first attracted to her by her very low C-Section rates. When my husband and I first met with her for an introductory appointment (I met with several OB's before making a decision) she blew me away with the sheer time she spent with us. Having been rushed in and out of other offices prior, she spent almost an hour in the room with us answering all of our nervous "first timer" questions. And she did so with a warmth and levity that I find really hard to come by. That first experience was matched throughout my pregnancy. It's true what other reviewers mention in regards to often having to wait for in-office appointments. However you can understand why that is the case and how worth it is once she enters the room with you. The wait is her giving EVERY patient she sees the care and TLC she'll also give you. I especially love her balanced approach to pregnancy. Though she's extremely up to date on all things western she also doesn't discount the value of eastern practices & holistic complements to a traditional western model of care. She's also extremely patient - something very important leading up to labor (my baby stayed put after my due date and she honored my wishes not to be induced so long as we were both healthy) and during labor (she respects the power of pitocin and utilizes it with a "least effective dose" approach if needed). As another reviewer mentioned, I also very much appreciated the referrals to specialists she offered to ensure you get the highest level of care and feedback on unique issues. Leading up to the start of my labor she was extremely responsive via text, often answering questions within minutes. She was also the perfect zen balance of command and calm in the most intense moments in the delivery room. After our son was born, she performed his circumcision. Both our pediatrician and a NICU nurse who was on call during the time expressed how impressed they were with the quality and precision of her procedure. The office environment is lovely and low stress. Her support staff is fantastic. Bills are fair & easy to understand. I found Dr. Colin after having a frustrating experience with another OB-GYN's billing staff. She was with me from a seamless D&C she performed due to early miscarriage to a complicated birth. Her bedside manner is easy-going yet professional, and very caring. She spends all the time you need during appointments and never rushes, hence the wait time during appointments, which I find well worth it. My birth experience was very crazy, but Dr. Colin kept me calm and brought my beautiful son into the world. She also followed up with me everyday until I was discharged from the hospital. THE WORST OFFICE. I waited 90 minutes to see Dr. Colin for BOTH of the appointments I had during my current pregnancy before switching to another provider. I had to do a bacterial swab to test for infection, and I got the results back almost 2 weeks after the test was done with instructions to get a prescription filled, long after the symptoms were gone. Also, Dr. Colin didn't even do the swab test when I was in the office for my appointment, but asked me to come back 2 days later when I called to say that I was still having symptoms. Multiple trips for a working mom because she "must have forgotten" to run the test that was needed. It's a million things like this that made me feel unsupported and like my care wasn't being effectively managed. I lost trust in this doctor. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I went for my Nuchol test, got scary results, and tried to call Dr. Colin to discuss the situation. SHE DID NOT RETURN MY CALL FOR 3 DAYS. I couldn't get through to ANYONE in the office. I decided to switch to another provider after this happened, and CONTINUE TO RECEIVE $800 BILLS FOR THE CONCIERGE FEE regularly, after seeing this doctor two times. The office staff is rude and overworked, and my current OB has sent 4 written requests for my records over the course of the past 5 months, without receiving ANYTHING AT ALL. I'm due in 1 week, and I finally got notice that they are preparing to send the records, along with a "bill" for 65$ that will be automatically charged on the card THEY STILL HAVE ON FILE 6 months after I stopped seeing this doctor. I understand trying to punish ME for deciding to switch providers, but this is about my BABY and having a healthy birth. This honestly feels like negligence. Too little too late. My favorite doctor -- and one of my favorite people -- ever! I have delayed in writing this review because I honestly cannot articulate high enough praise to give when it comes to Dr. Colin. Last summer I became pregnant with my first baby and had to find an OB -- I had recently moved to LA and did not have one yet. We searched the Internet looking for a good match, and my husband found Dr. Colin and thought she seemed perfect. I feel so fortunate that we found her, because I could not imagine going through my pregnancy and birth experience without Dr. Colin. My husband and I were super nervous at the first appointment, but Dr. Colin and her assistant, Elizabeth, put us at ease. The office is very calming with a spa-like waiting area. Throughout the entire pregnancy, Dr. Colin answered all of our questions, kept us informed about everything we needed to know, and made sure I was growing a healthy baby boy. She has a great ultrasound machine and used it to check on my little man at almost every appointment It was such an amazing experience to be able to see him grow throughout the pregnancy! She sometimes even turned on the 3D function, which was super neat. We also felt as though Dr. Colin truly cared about our little family on a personal level and was excited to be going through this with us. Her happiness and excitement added to our amazing experience. The birthing experience was also incredible. It's all a bit of a blur, but I look back it with such happiness. The moments after Dr. Colin delivered my son were full of joy, laughter, jokes, and voting on a name -- while Dr. Colin and my nurses worked swiftly at checking the baby and putting me back together. We moved to San Diego after my son was born in March, and we were really sad to say goodbye when we drove up for my follow-up appointment. If we end up having a second child, we have already discussed what we will need to do in order to have the baby with Dr. Colin again. It would definitely be worth the drive to LA.
