This man has ruined my moms life with surgery that shouldn't be in medical practice anymore. He has left at least 3 infected abscesses inside my mom and is constantly just ignoring us, lying - do not let this man operate on you. He will avoid all calls and the way he runs his office should be investigated as he has way too many complications he refuses to answer for after surgery. Furthermore he interferes with my mom's general care in hospital settings to try and covet his mistakes and refuses to attend as an attending surgeon. Time to retire. My mom has had to learn to walk 5 times since this surgery near Thanksgiving. You should be ashamed of yourself Dr Bilchik read more

He may be a terrific doctor, but DO NOT let him remove anything from your body (moles, etc) if you care about what they will look like afterward. He removed a thing on my face and left a DENT in my cheek. The thing he removed was flat. He removed a mole on my thigh and it look like it was scooped out by a spoon. He is not a cosmetic surgeon in any way. He does not use the Moss method. read more

Great care quality and professionalism; I have complete trust in Dr BILCHIK and his team

Few minutes after I met Dr Bilchik, I knew I was in good hands. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient and took the time to explain everything I was dealing with and how he would approach my condition. I felt very safe and also, can tell he is a very caring human. The surgery went very smoothly and I recovered in 2 days. Amazing His entire staff was always available to answer my questions and calm my nerves as I got closer to the surgery. I felt very fortunate to have Dr Bilchik perform my surgery and would give 6 stars if I could. read more

June 2024 I went to Urgent Care. The MD there sent me to the hospital. All I had was a note from Urgent care and Medicare insurance. Dr Bilchik did an emergency surgery that saved my life [I had a serious infection]. Dr Bilchik gave me a unique situation that made a lot of sense to me so I decided to have him do my Whipple Surgery. It was a very difficult procedure and he explained that to me. In 2018 I took care of someone who was very special to me for 6 months after he had surgery by Dr. Bilchik. During that time I went to almost every post surgery visit to Dr. Bilchik and every time, even though we were watching him slowly deteriorate, this doctor kept saying he was fine. Finally he was so weak that the doctor sent him away to a rehab where his entire body blew up like a balloon which we later found out was a result of Sepsis, from which he quickly died. The family later shared that imaging showed Dr. Bilchik's botched surgery was the likely cause. I am writing this review because all I see are rave 5 star reviews that I believe puts others in danger. I was told that at least 4 other victim families already reached out to the family who have tried to expose the truth about this doctor. Please do your research, Dr. Anton Bilchik is a Fake. read more

I believe that Dr. Bilchik screwed up my father's surgery. When Anton came out of the operating room he told us that my holocaust surviving father's insides looked more like a 60 year old than an 89 year old. He told us the procedure was a success. But after 4 months of slow deterioration where Dr. Bilchik continued to say "your father is fine" my dad slowly starved to death. Although my dad was elderly, he was strong as an ox, he could have lived many many more years. Dr. Bilchik said he did some special approaches that we believe failed our father. I would NOT recommend this doctor for any whipple procedures or any other specialized cancer practices . Anton, you took no accountability for your actions and I truly believe my father died because of your approach to the procedure. read more

Dr. Bilchik performed very complex abdominal surgery on me in July 2020. I have stage 4 metastatic neuroendocrine tumors that are in my peritoneum, stomach, liver, and intestines. The tumors in my abdomen got so large that they caused a total bowel obstruction. I was unable to eat by mouth and was on IV feeding for 6 months. I was so worried that I would never be able to eat again, but Dr. Bilchik changed my life. He is truly a lifesaver with God-given talent. He cut out a lot of the tumors and totally fixed my intestines. After surgery, I am finally eating like a normal person (I'm a big foodie, so this was very important to me), I'm working full time, and leading a fulfilling life. His support staff is excellent (especially Erica) and the doctors assisting him were also excellent. I had to be in the hospital during the pandemic, but the nurses were so caring and they tried their best to make us feel at home even though we couldn't have any visitors. Dr. Bilchik visited my hospital room every day to check on my progress. He was very involved during the entire process and was easy to contact when I was at home. When I came in for my 6 week checkup, he was so happy I was doing well. He had a huge smile on his face and he made me feel proud of myself for making it through. He is a very caring human being. If I have any problems with abdominal tumors in the future, I will not hesitate to go straight to him for surgery. read more

Dr Bilchik and his team saved my life for which I can't thank Dr Bilchik enough. On Labor Day, 2021, I had a severe Diverticulitis attack where my temperature soared to 103 and my WBC to over 20,000. I was admitted at the St Johns/Providence emergency room in Santa Monica that evening and was in the hospital for 10 days, fighting the bacteria infection and Sepsis. (blood infection) Dr Bilchik and the team were monitoring my vitals and continued to stress the importance of the process to get me strong in order to have surgery to remove the sigmoid intestine. Dr Bilchik would not operate until all my vitals and overall strength dramatically improved, as the stronger I was going into the surgery, the better the surgery and recovery would be. I am a former sub 4 minute miler, world class runner, university of Oregon hall of famer in Cross Country and had never been this sick in my life. An all new and scary experience. Being an active person and former athlete I was very impatient during this process but Dr Bilchik kept reassuring me to be patient as he had the plan and schedule to make me better. Dr Bilchik, did an amazing job in prepping me for the surgery , when the day came I was ready. The Robotic Sigmoid Surgery lasted just over 5 hours. I came out of surgery doing well. The rehab and recovery starts now. Once again, I want to thank Dr Bilchik, Dr Weiss, Dr Young and the entire team, including Erika, on the process, the prep on getting me ready for surgery, the successful surgery and getting me back to having a healthy life. If I can put more stars than 5 I would. I feel so blessed that I decided to do my surgery with Doctor Bilchick . The first 2 surgeon that I visited they wanted to removed my whole colon , rectum , Iturriaga , ovaries etc .. and live with a colostomy I was 36 years old how could I live my life like this and the way they told me the procedure there was not sympathy at all. Anton Bilchik, MD - Surgeons Near Me - Santa Monica, California

Dr Anton Bilchik has performed two different surgeries on me and is one of the kindest smartest surgeons you could have. I feel so lucky to have him as my Dr Dawn Merzon read more

I went to see Dr. Bilchik and instantly felt comfortable with him. I had previously went for a consultation with another surgeon but I just didn't get a good feeling from her. She didn't know what was wrong with me and just wanted to schedule me for surgery right away and slice me open. I have only had one other surgery in my life. So just the word surgery scares me. Also, being put under general anesthesia frightens me. Dr. Bilchik checked me out, ordered my ultrasound and said it could be one of two things. I had to do surgery in order to fix it and once he was in he would know exactly which one it was. I felt way more comfortable having this done with him. I got my surgery scheduled at his surgery center within 2 weeks and it was a breeze. He and the staff took great good care of me. His bedside manner is so professional and recovery was quick and easy. Just as he said it would be. read more

Dr Bilchik operated on me in 2011 for a very basic hernia operation. He did a horrible butcher job. His anesthesiologist and he both left early. The nurses could not bring me to consciousness because Dr Bilchik was so negligent that he did not give them any information about my low heart rate, etc. I ended up back in the hospital days later due to his complete negligence. I would never recommend him to anyone who cared about their life. read more

Dr. Bilchik is the best oncology surgeon! He really deserves his prominent reputation as one of the foremost specialists in his field. He combined consummate knowledge, skills, and surehanded ability with honest, forthright yet gentle and compassionate communication with me, allaying my fears about my desperate condition. He not only knows his metier, but listened to my concerns and actually heeded them, incorporating them into the major and complex surgery that he had to perform on me. In dire circumstances for years, I had put off desperately need operation due to doubts and steadily increasing physical wasting and weakness. I am now on the road to recovery, thanks to Dr. Bilchik's amazing skills. I wholeheartedly recommend him and his team! read more

During imaging to confirm an appendicitis I was found to have a large retroperitoneal tumor lodged in a very crowed area near my duodenum. A few weeks after my appendectomy, I had my first appointment with Dr. Bilchik to hear his opinion on the tumor (he was the second doctor I was seeing). I felt welcomed and heard in all my consultations with Dr. Bilchik and his assistant, Dr. Ramiscal. He always made sure I knew exactly what my options were and what we were dealing with. When they opened me up in the operation room, in March 2020, he saw the tumor was touching my aorta ("abutting aorta") and he had to literally resect it fiber by fiber so as to not damage my aorta and cause severe hemorrhage. If something went wrong during the operation, consequences would have been dire. Him and his team did a technically amazing job. Had I opted for a less skilled or less specialized professional, actual chances are I wouldn't be here today writing this review. I feel I was extremely lucky to have found him. Dr. Bilchik not only proved to be a world-class, extremely competent surgeon, but also a gentleman who treated me respectfully all the way through. I'm an expatriate living in the U.S.. Having to undergo an operation of this magnitude away from most of my family wasn't easy. I'm glad I had Dr. Bilchik on my side. I guess his biggest fan now is my mom! By the way, I shouldn't forget to mention nurse Karen, who was very loving and caring preparing me for the surgery and made me feel safe and relaxed before the anesthesia. read more

Dr. Bilchik is an Amazing doctor!!! He saved my life. One of the most brilliant and kind individuals I have ever met. From the first consultation, I realized this was not just an ordinary person. He removed a stage 3 tumor from my colon and was able to handle my difficult surgery quickly and efficiently. I later found out that he and his team really went above and beyond for me. I am so grateful. What I like most about Dr. Bilchik is that he is very efficient in the way he processes information; no detail goes unturned. He also has a great bedside manner. As a patient, I always felt I was in the "Best" hands. He really put me at ease during the scariest time of my life. His office staff, especially Erika is just as amazing. They went above and beyond in helping me with the post-surgery process to get back to work. I highly recommend Dr. Bilchik and his staff. read more

Dr. Anton Bilchik is the best oncologist I have ever encountered. My uncle had gone to several other doctors, including one that's well-known in Texas, but we were not satisfied so, based on a referral from a friend, we started seeing Dr. Bilchik. Aside from having endless knowledge, Dr. Bilchik was able to constantly stay in touch with us and explain everything happening at a level we could all understand, his bedside manner was amazing, and he was not only a brilliant doctor, but a strong pillar of support for all of us. Dr. Bilchik is an extraordinary physician and specialist in oncological surgery. A few months ago he performed a very difficult surgery called a Whipple, which entailed removing the head of my pancreasTo get rid of a pancreatic tumor. It's a a six hour surgery. My 3rd year whipple anniversary is around the corner. I am pretty much OK but still recovering from that trauma. I remember vaguely my stay at the hospital for almost a month, my horrible pains and begging for more pain-killers, my hallucinations from the drugs, and the fear of "am I gonna make it". After my discharge I was sent to a rehab hospital that was actually a place for people with breathing issues. It was the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had in my life. It was in Van Nuys, on the third floor of Valley Pres hospital, so it was camouflaged as a good hospital, but not the third floor. One of my doctors told me a few months later that they nickname it "camp mengele" (if you understand what it means). The place is called Barlow Hospital. I wanted to run away from that place. I was so so depressed there. My family got me out of there after 3 days, and I was admitted to a more "normal" rehab place - Topanga Terrace. It was much better than Barlow, but I just wanted to go home. I was there for a few days and want sent home, and a day nurse took care of me. Now after 3 years, I sometimes ask my wife and daughters how was I during that terrible time, and they tell me "you don't want to know", and I understand, it was hell. During my recovery period, I bumped into one of my surgeons at St. John Hospital (Santa Monica). He told me: "Joram, you look so good ! I am very happy for you. You know that we were this much (thumb and index fingers almost touching) from losing you". That made me feel wonderful... A year later I had a hernia surgery, because my stomach stuck out in a very ugly way. I currently have shortness-of-breath issues, that could be from the Whipple, and being examined for the cause. All and all, I am feeling good most of time, and thankful for that. My saviors are my wife, two daughters, and four grandkids. My surgeon, Dr. Bilchik is my God. I am very thankful for this group that encouraged me from the day I joined, until now ! Besides us, nobody knows what a Whipple Warrior is. read more

Dr. Bilchik is an outstanding doctor. I developed a fairly minor medical issue compared to the extremely complex illnesses that Dr. Bilchik treats at the John Wayne Cancer Center but he still hs given me world class treatment. I been dealing with this problem for over 5 years now and have had 4 surgeries to the day. I was initially treated by Kaiser in Riverside and Moreno Valley and never felt like the doctors cared much about me or really agreed with their philosophies as to how to treat my issue. The last colorectal specialist I saw recommended an extremely high risk surgery which could've rendered me incontinent and left me pooping in a colostomy bag for the rest of my life. That surgeon didn't really take my input into consideration and when I complained about being in pain he pretty much told me to "suck it up as I was a tough guy." His treatment eventually led to the device he had implanted in me snapping due to the doctor over tightening the device, which was extremely painful. The time I've been dealing with this and the potential repercussions of losing my career and lifestyle had me very depressed and worried for a long time. A friend recommended Dr. Bilchik, I looked him up and was impressed by his credentials. He sounded like the kind of doctor you'd want when you didn't care about the cost or whatever it took to have the "best doctor or specialist" treat you. I was not disappointed when I met Dr. Bilchik. He is an incredibly smart and impressively prepared and overqualified but humble and down to earth doctor. Despite the knowledge and abilities of Doctor Bilchik to treat incredibly complex medical conditions he recommended a very conservative approach to my healing which avoided surgery and just let my body heal with the new device he implanted. After my fourth surgery now with Dr. Bilchik I felt no pain afterwards, he didn't destroy my internal tissue and the work he did was extremely well done. (I feel it in my body). Even though my problem is taking a long time to fix, I have been very slowly progressing and healing and I understand the reason why. Dr. Bilchik is very down to earth and levels with you. He answers all of your questions and takes the time to make you feel at ease and much more confident that the treatment you are receiving is the appropriate one. Dr. Bilchik cares about his patients and despite being busy almost everyday with very complex surgeries he takes the time to schedule appointments and will take the time to help you with any personal issues you might be dealing with as a result of your illness up to and including recommending you to other extremely qualified physicians. I am not done with my healing but even if I have to live with my condition for the rest of my life or if my condition worsens I will know for sure that the treatment both professional and personal I've received from Dr. Bilchik is the best of the best and not going to blame him for any complications that might develop. After all, he is a doctor and not a miracle worker. I definitely can say I trust Doctor Bilchik with my life. Which is not something I can say for any other doctor I have received treatment from. I have read some of the negative reviews about Dr. Bilchik and if you read them just realize that he treats patients for extremely serious illnesses like colon cancer and he cannot perform miracles. Sometimes people die regardless of the medical treatment they receive. Sometimes medical procedures cannot save a persons life. That should not reflect negatively on the professionalism and ethical standards of Dr. Bilchik or any other medical professional. Also shot out to Erica, his main assistant who is a friggin sweetheart and is so nice and helpful. I enjoy our conversations. read more

I usually don't take the proper time to write reviews about my experiences but I was unbelievably impressed with Dr. Anton Bilchik's personal attention that he gave to myself and my family when my sister was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer , she was diagnosed in Atlanta and we flew her to Los Angeles to meet Dr. Bilchick and to ask his opinion as we completely did not know what to do as my sister had recently moved from Argentina to the USA and we knew no one that could guide us with her pancreatic cancer diagnosis of 3 months to live ! Dr. Anton met with us and took much time calling hospital directors and putting us in the proper situation to aid us with the impossible decisions with her life , my sister was able due to Dr. Bilchick to actually last for three more years and got to see her kids several more years thanks to his kindness and the generous offer of his time and his help - my sister has since passed but we are so grateful for the kindness that was shown to my sister and our family by this doctor , many thanks and accolades to a doctor who takes his oath seriously of actually helping people! I could not speak more highly of Dr Bilchik. I recently had Diverticulitis surgery with Dr Bilchik. I was recommended to him by my GP but soon learned of his stellar reputation from a Doctor friend, clients, and business colleagues alike. What started out as a straightforward laparoscopic, partial colectomy robotic surgery that would usually take 2.5 hours turned into a 7.5 hour surgery after he discovered during surgery that besides the diseased part of the colon I also had a rupture further on in my colon that had thankfully self sealed. The surgery was complicated as the rupture was positioned at the part of the colon that was joined to my spleen. Not only did he successfully separate, remove the diseased sections, and rejoin the healthy parts of my colon, but 14 days later I'm up and running and actually back to work. Dr Bilchik and his very impressive support team delivered incredible skills, technique and care and I'm very grateful for his superb skills and personable interactive support. I can't thank Dr. Bilchick, his entire team and especially Erica his amazing office manager enough for all they did for me! I am 91 years old, healthy, and was diagnosed with colon cancer after having issues with rectal bleeding. I had not had surgery of any sort for 45 years and was very nervous about the procedure and the diagnosis. This process also happened during the pandemic, which certainly heightened the stress. Dr. Bilchick and his excellent staff helped educate me about the surgery and were extremely accommodating to my three children, helping my family stay informed about my health. I live in Long Beach and do not like having to travel very far by car. Dr. Bilchick was able to set it up so that the MRI and CT Scan were done at a local medical center, so I didn't have to drive all the way to Santa Monica. Dr. Bilchick and his staff were also considerate of my desire to avoid using drugs during the rather painful healing process and respected my desire for autonomy. I feel that the surgery itself resulted in the least amount of scarring that was possible and I was able to heal from it in less than two months. Additionally, the staff at St. John's Hospital was incredibly cautious.  While I certainly don't recommend having cancer or needing treatment, if you find yourself in the unfortunate position that I did, I highly recommend Dr. Bilchick! And, I am happy to say that I am now cancer free! read more

I thought I'd written this 6 years ago but I forgot to hit the "post" button. Anyway, I'm writing it now, 6 years after Dr. Bilchik preformed a colon resection on me curing my hideous diverticulitis. I lived with this awful disease for probably 7or 8 years prior to my surgery. I wish I had done it sooner. Dr Bilchik preformed the surgery using the crazy spider robot which I was a bit scared of but it turned out to be a life saving surgery. I wouldn't be alive now if I haven't had the surgery. Dr. Bilchik was fantastic in every way. Knowledgeable, empathetic, everything anyone would want in a doctor. He even got me on the fancy "all suite" floor of the hospital! Since then I've lived a life without pain and my guts run smoothly. Two years ago I had my usual colonoscopy and Dr. Jacques Van Dam my gastroenterologist told me that the surgery Dr. Bilchik did on me was exceptional. Choosing Dr. Bilchik to preform my colon resection was one of the best decisions I've ever made! My only gripe is that he doesn't do spine surgery as well, my back is killing me. read more
