It's a functioning library (part of the Nevada County library system) and historic building. The library is tiny. The first floor has computers and laptops, magazines, newspaper, fiction and non, music CDs, and movie DVDs. They have a self checkout. Downstairs in the basement is the children's section. The library hosts children's programs. There is no dedicated parking lot, it's all street parking. If you are in the area and appreciate historic buildings, drop on in. The librarians are use to folks stepping in to check out the architecture and to use the restrooms. But do keep in mind it's a library.... ssshhhh. HISTORY lesson: It was built in 1915 with a Andrew Carnegie grant. He funded the construction of about 1700 American libraries during 1883-1929. Grass Valley was awarded $15,000 which is equivalent to about $380,000 today. The town constructed the library near the childhood home of its distinguished citizen, Josiah Royce (1855-1916). The library branch was named in his behalf as well. He was born in Grass Valley. He was a smarty pants, a world renown philosopher. He was a Leading proponent of his time in Absolute idealism dealing with the meta physical view. Huh!? That is too academic for me to understand. He graduated form UC Berkeley and went on to teach at Harvard.

Every fourth Wednesday at 3 pm at 2950 Richardson Drive in the Dewitt Center, around ten of us gather for great book discussions led by librarians Jacob Towne and Jessica Esperanza. If you're looking for new excitement with books, people and ideas, join us! For more specific needs, I've driven recently to the Colfax branch at 10 Church Street. Now on Fridays 9:30 a.m. to probably 10:00 a.m., they have the Story Time! I been to three! First time, the theme was bears! Second time the theme was dogs! Third time the theme was dinosaurs! They give the parent an Alphabet card, first time mine was a B for Bear, second time, mine was a V for violin, third time mine was a F for Flower! The parent with the child looks for the alphabet on the mat, sits on that Alphabet! Storytime! We listen with our ears, we look with our eyes, we are silent (pointing to the mouth), we sit on our bottoms! They do have simple movements to get the parents and the children moving! One time was the Hokey Pokey dinosaur style! This is a nice library! I would recommend this library in town Auburn, California! Just as any bookstore just as any library, I spend most the time in Children Section!

Sadly, I had several documents…read moreI needed printing so, the El Dorado County Library, i.e., the EDC LIBRARY has available modernized computers you may use as well as printing documents which by the way, is completely a Godsend. Ahhhhhh~Yes, I do hear the Angels' Choir . . . However, I never applied for an EDC LIBRARY ID Card so, I decided I'll apply for an ID Card on my birthday which just so happens to be TODAY~YAY: I was given a short library card, application form which I copiously completed, submitting my CDL, signed the application, and gave my application and CDL to the awesomely cool Librarian. Afterwards, the Librarian escorted me to the computer station giving me succinct instructions using the computers. IMPORTANT FYI: When you're ready printing your documentation-whatever you do, DO NOT PRESS CTRL + P; unfortunately, using this shortcut will truncate your document printing only the first page~DOH! Instead, scroll down to the bottom of the page searching for three dots in a column in the right side clicking the mouse on the three dots selecting PRINT. Voila~Finished!

They also have cords you can use their for free cell phone charging while at the library. They even have a great bulletin board of all the activities happening in the community.
