Tiptop Builders is a group of very friendly builders led by Max, who are all complete stars. They…read moreare efficient, super friendly and left our flat looking clean at the end of each day...so coming home to a half-finished flat wasn't too stressful. - We used them a few months ago to remove our ugly built-in wardrobe and re-plaster one of our bedrooms. - Then they came back to install some radiators and fit a new wooden floor - They discovered a leak under our floor (that had been causing condensation and damp) so fixed this before they installed our new flooring. - Lastly they fitted new internal and external doors Most of this work was done by Ruslan, who is the loveliest builder I have ever met! He was really friendly and polite, and was incredibly careful with all the small details to ensure he finished every room perfectly. It's a bit like living in a totally different (and far more stylish) flat now they have finished. If we ever move house and need builders, I will definitely get them involved again. **Although this is their first yelp review, they have loooads of other good reviews on google+, so if you don't believe me, have a look: https://plus.google.com/+TiptopbuildersLtdUkservice/about

Surrey Lofts
Don't trust! Absolutely awful. Where to start?…read more How about Surrey Lofts Group Ltd went into liquidation on 26 September 2022 so our 10 year guarantee is void. However they are trading as a "new" company called Surrey Lofts Walton Ltd. A new company that was incorporated on 15 May 2020. They have a new director who was appointed on 7 Sept 2022 when their previous director, Mark Grimshaw, resigned. He was also the director of Surrey Lofts Group Ltd. Suspicious! Why would I need my guarantee? Good question - the work was only completed in Feb 2020. Well, my roof is leaking. I sought advice from an independent roofer and he said there's a section where the loft meets the chimney that hadn't been sealed properly. There's also a 2 sq. metre area that's like sponge. His professional assessment was the leak would have been occurring since the work was completed, or even worse, because Surrey Lofts didn't use the correct materials. Unprofessional! This "new company that was set up 2 years ago uses the same website and phone umber as the previous company. The lady who was the initial admin contact is still working there. And their website isn't even updated to portray a new business. It boasts how they have been a family run company of over 22 years set up by Mark Grimshaw. Some pages say over 25 years. Again, suspicious seeing as it's supposedly a new company. I wish this situation was the first problem I had with the company and the work they carried out, Unfortunately, it's not. I already had to get them to fix the staircase they installed going into the loft as it had come away. This could have resulted in a serious accident to a member of my family. Luckily it didn't and I managed to get that sorted before they liquidated one company and opened up as a new one that had already been set up 2 years earlier. Really bad, eh? Surely the work went smoothly when they were installing the loft? Nope. Sadly not. The completion of the original job dragged on and on and on - with one of their contractors continually not turning up when he said he would for a variety of reasons including his car breaking down (twice) and him being in court for assault. (Yes he told me that when he finally turned up.) This matter was only sorted when I told the Project Manager that I would be getting someone else to finish the work and deducting the cost of this from any monies owed to Surrey Lofts. So was the Project Manager pretty good? Nope. He was practically non-existent on the job - he came out once to chat us through the work at the start of the job and set up a WhatsApp chat for communication. The only other times we saw him was when big problems arose and he had to come out to check things out for himself. There were hardly any check ins to make sure the work was progressing on time. No weekly or even monthly updates unless requested. Surely they were the only issues? Nope. Again, unfortunately not. Here are a few of the other issues we encountered: - Our son's brand new bed was broken because another one of their contractors left his toolboxes on it and the electricians Surrey Lofts appointed were standing on the bed to fix the light fittings. - We were paying close to 10 grand for them to fit a new bathroom - it needed to be reconfigured as the position of the toilet and bath were changing. This meant a new pipe needed to be fitted from the toilet, running alongside the wall and out of the house. Despite the cost of the bathroom, they added £30 on to fit plywood around the pipe so they could tile over it. No, this wasn't included in the 10 grand. - A leak occurred during the work as they didn't put up the correct covers outside. - We had to constantly ask for the house and outer area to be tidied at the end of each day because dangerous items such as nails, broken tiles and sharp pieces of wood were left lying around with dust left unswept despite the fact we were living in the house while the work was being done. Surrey Lofts may reply to this message denying these events or offering excuse but it's all true, I've attached images.
We've had an awful experience with Surrey Lofts and Mark Grimshaw! Stay away from this company!…read more I've attached photos of what they considered the finished project. They did a terrible job on our loft extension, then when we were on holiday their plumber flooded our downstairs and destroyed our back room. They're now denying any liability and we may have to take them to court, as the damage is extensive. One of the worst things was they actually stole money from our child's charity jar (yes we have evidence). The process was terrible, the project manager useless, zero communication after the first week, he never answered his phone, constantly lied to us and the office, he didn't know what was needed or what to do. He didn't even know there was supposed to be an electrical certificate supplied before building control signed off. We constantly had to take in materials because they never showed up, they took the key to our garage and stole items out of it, as well as stole from our house. It all culminated in the job failing building control due to their incompetence. We've now had to pay external tradesmen to come in and finish in order to bring the work up to a suitable finish for decorating, as the quality of the work was so shockingly bad. They started in June, it's now end of October and we're still waiting for them to repair the damage they caused. We've now had them referred to Trading Standards and been advised by Citizens Advice that they're violating the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and to take them to court if they don't put things right. Here's the lowlights of all the things they did: surreyloftsreviews.com/surrey-lofts-review-list-of-problems-we-had/

They also have sample doors and worktop pieces of all their ranges plus displays of handles. They don't have the same amount on display as many other kitchen companies but it was sufficient for us. The staff were really helpful and provided us with details of some local builders and kitchen fitters they recommend. This was so helpful and we may be going with one of them who we wouldn't have heard of otherwise but seems much better than others we've met. We booked a Howden's designer to come out and measure up, which is a free service they offer. A really nice guy called Terry came out, measured the kitchen area and asked about items and appliances we want included. He was brilliant at giving ideas and advice for things we wouldn't have thought about such as not having cupboards with glass fronts next to the cooker/hob as they get steamed up/greasey/dirty more easily there. Less than a week after the measure we were emailed a link to see 3D CAD drawings of the kitchen with a video 'walking through' the plan. We can now ask for changes to be made where we think necessary and go into the branch to go through it too. The units seem good quality but I'll be able to update this if we do get our kitchen through Howden's.

Armourtex took my very average white Charge Grater 3 and turned it into a sexy, hot pink, orange and black beast. Max, who did the tech work, couldn't have been more helpful and showed me how to do some useful maintenance tricks. He also gave me a lot of really useful info on tyres, and clearly knows his stuff. Can you believe it?! FIVE stars for an estate agent? Well friends, Letz Move deserves the honour!…read more After a lot of pain and heartache caused by Winkworths (aka WANK-worths), I was beyond thrilled to find such a dream agent. My agent at Letz Move was honest and reliable from the start and has continued to be throughout the entire rental process. Basically, here's what makes them top-dog in my book: -Honesty. When I asked my agent if he thought I could talk the rent down a bit, he told me it wouldn't hurt to try. Most agents seem to insist there's no way the landlord will bring down the rent. Thanks to his advice, I knocked off a few pounds! -Simplicity. Almost everything is done online, making the process far less painless. I was able to fill out all my reference and application forms online AND even sign the contract online as well! -Thorough! When I went to collect the keys, my agent met me at the flat and did a thorough check-in with me. We walked around inspecting every inch of the place, making sure it was all up to snuff. And nicks or dings were market down and then put up on the website, which was accessible to me with the login information they'd provided. I was then given five days to dispute or add anything on. -Helpful. Everything was perfect upon move-in, but a couple of days later we had some trouble with our oven. I emailed my agent and quickly received a response from another member of staff informing that my agent was on holiday but that they would be happy to help me out. And they did. Problem solved in less than 24 hours. Most importantly, my agent from Letz Move was kind and approachable. I actually never felt like he was stretching the truth or trying to sell me on something that I didn't want or couldn't afford. The only downside to this agency is that they're not very big and don't have tons of listings, but otherwise I cannot recommend them more!

The flat was disgusting and dirty when I moved in, but I was desperate to move quickly so I took it regardless. I spent the first few weeks cleaning as the cooker was covered in hardened gunk, the cupboards were broken and the bathroom had so much mildew that I actually showered at the gym until this was all removed. The maintenance woman rarely returned my calls and took 5 months to get the work done, but strangely they were quick to contact me when the rent was a day late. They then tried to take half my deposit when I left, claiming that they needed it for cleaning fees which made me laugh as it was cleaner when I left than when I first moved in. Fortunately my deposit was covered by the deposit protection scheme, and 6 months later I have gotten this all back, after months of bitter disputes with letz move who even went so far as to make up far-fetched stories with no photographic evidence (which I did have). This agency have actually put me off renting, but I am fortunate to have found a lettings agency who are honest, quick to deal with problems and have a good reputation both online and from friends and colleagues.

In January I called to enquiry about installation. 5 phone calls later they advised they cancelled the order because the surveyor was not sure how they would fit the front door. No mentioned of the other 2 doors. Instead of saying sorry we've arranged this contract at a price that we can't fullfill they lied to me and said they would honour the original price for the doors except the front door that they thought would be difficult to fit. Just so they could get Jamie back to my house to requote for everything. Jamie then started to spin this web of lies to convince me that it is okay to do what they are doing. Daniel Robb the owner was pulling the strings on this process. The annoying thing is that if you look in the car park of Window Hub and find the car Daniel drives it will be an Audi or BMW. New. Probably on finance but funded by the ample profits his company is producing. Or funded by his salary even if the company isn't making any profits. This is the problem with dealing with a small business who do not have any experience of how to negotiate contract properly or plainly how to communicate. All they car about is what money they are making and how flash they are going to look in their new BMW. They have wasted my time and cost me a lot of money having to purchase doors at current inflated prices. They didn't even have an explanation that made sense or an excuse really. Zero stars on my review. I will be using Safestyle due to price, professionalism, and ability to carry out installation. Feedback I would give the WindowHub apart from the obvious is that they shold have a charity they support. Nothing. What benefit to society or the local community does Daniel Robb give? He just wants a flashy car - well that's just the way it appears and apprearances are everything. Greed is good.... as the saying goes.
