Complete lack of professionalism, my lab tests have been lost twice and I feel like they would not even have let me know if I had not called them to ask when I'd be getting the results... They just asked me to come back to redo the tests and never apologized or seemed to care about fixing their mistakes. Can't be trusted for anything time sensitive. read more

After being a patient for 4.5 years, and having been to Dr. Gordon 3 times this year and countless specialists for a chronic condition, right when a breakthrough treatment was possible with a referral, she had her awful assistant Marty inform me that she would not call me or give me a referral, I'd have to come in if I wish to speak to her at all. Mind you, my referrals have been taking up to 4 weeks from her to process. Just recently they had me do an unnecessary CYA procedure (CT scan) and when their guesswork was unhelpful they tried to send me for a repeat CT scan. This office just sends patients around through their HMO system to avoid letting the insurer incur big bills. They also lie about tests and shots being covered by insurance ans send you large bills. They also don't log payments then send collection notices. Marty was really rude and charged me $84 for my medical records. I would have told him forget it but I do not want to interact with this office and its incompetent staff ever again. Average appointment wait was always 40 minutes +. Recently the doctor hasn't been following up on patient care. I think she's getting old and can't keep up. read more

Dr. Gordon is the best. She's a little spitfire. You tell her your symptoms and she won't stop until she finds out what's going on. I had been going to Dr.'s for years complaining about a certain symptom and she was the only one that didn't brush it aside as being trivial or chalk it up to me being a big baby. She sent me in for tests and a week later I was having a rather large ovarian cyst removed. Her staff is also very friendly. Her office is also located right across the street from St. Joseph's Hospital which it makes it very convenient when you need to have tests done. read more

My wife and I went in for our annual physicals on a Saturday morning. The wait was on the long side, but we still left the office around the time we expected. This was probably due to the relatively brief diagnosis by Dr. Gordon. While we told her that both of us felt fine, she didn't bother going a step further and performing a detailed inspection - as our previous doctors had done. She also tried to pimp out some medication to my wife. They were able to take lab samples in-office, which was nice. Not a big deal though - as other Yelpers have said, the labs are just a floor away. read more

I have been with Dr. Gordon for about 8 years now. Lately, her new staff and doctors have really been upping their game. They respond to my questions VERY quickly and really listen. They give me only what I need and nothing more. They've really helped me after a minor car accident and as someone with anxiety, she really calmed me down and helped. Parking is $8 valet...and it's impossible to park around there, so make sure you have $8 in cash. I think it was a mistake to re-hire Dr. Bang to this practice due to her attitude and insensitivity to patients, but time will tell and I sure will never let her evaulate me again. Dr. Gordon is great. She is thorough, caring and friendly. Her receptionist has always been very pleasant as well. I used to experience such long waits (over 2 hours) when I first visited her. But thankfully, she moved into her own office within the building. Now I never wait for more than 20 minutes....unless it's pharma-sales day...don't get me started on that. read more

I just started going to her, but she's the first doctor I've been to that really listens to what your concerns are and is genuinely interested in trying to find out what's wrong. She doesn't just write perscriptions and throw you out of her office as fast as she can. Her office location is perfect- there's a radiology department and quest office in the building, so you can get tests done in the same place. read more

This Dr. Office is very caring and supportive. Dr. Gordon listened to me and supported me through a tough job situation. She always does a good, thorough job with my asthma and yearly bouts is sickness that teachers incur. In the past couple of months there was a turnover in staff. I met two new ones today. Hi l want to tell everyone....Dr.Colette Gorden is the only Dr. That has ever helped me with my problems! She went outta her eay to get me on the right meds.for depression and fibromyalgia.Dr.Gorden gave me samples 1st.if ddnt work she tried another until she gave me the meds.lm on now.the right ones!! My grandson passed on last august and believe me she was so kind and worried about me even came to hospital to c me.But she's been that way from 1st.time l met her.Sarah is wonderful, kind hearted and takes really good care of me also.l c her mostly now.very,very sweet and understanding.lm very happy with them both.better than my family members.l always feel better after my visit.l don't kno what l would've done if it weren't for Sarah and Dr.Gorden.When u walk in Marty is there to greet you he's the sweetest person makes you feel so comfortable.always smiling a great guy! I've been with Dr. Gordon, since 2004 - with that being said I had the worst experience out of these 13yrs, I was sick I went in to see Dr. Bang because Dr. Gordon was booked- Appointment was at 3:30 did not get called back to the room until 4:00 - Sat in the room until 4:30pm still no Dr. Bang!!! I left and told the receptionist that this is a Dr. office not and emergency room if I knew I was going to wait that long I was better of sitting in the ER!!! I had been a long time patient of Doctor Gordon's until last week. For 15 years she was my primary care physician. I never really found her to be really great or really awful until last week. This is when I went for a follow up appointment to get a prescription refilled. I showed up to a 4pm appointment at 3:55. I checked in with Marty. Marty quickly mentioned that "the billing department had something for me." It was a bill which he asked if I had received. I responded that I had received it and went to sit down. Fast forward an hour and half later, I went and politely asked what was going on. Marty then let me know that he was waiting to see whether or not the doctor was going to see me. Shocked, I told him I had a 4pm appointment that I'd been waiting an hour and a half for. He responded that I had an outstanding bill. I proceeded to asked him why he hadn't informed me that there was some sort of issue for the last hour and a half and his response was that I walked away. Dumbfounded, I asked why he wouldn't have just told me that we needed to discuss a bill. He had no response other than "you walked away." I actually needed to see the doctor. This wasn't really the time to be having a temper tantrum like a 3 year old. I understand the doctor needs to be paid, but this type of stuff is just crazy. Never once was I asked to make a payment, nor did I have any problem with making a payment. Apparently it's more important to make people suffer and wait, while their staff just refuses to even divulge why they're making people wait. I've never felt like I was treated more unprofessionally. i absolutely would not recommend this doctor's office to anyone. i started going here last year because i was referred by a friend & it's close to where i live. i knew it was coming up on a year since my last exam so i decided to call & make an appointment. i was 10 minutes early for my appointment to see Dr Kate Tefft for an annual exam. they require you to answer a series of questions about your health on a hand held touch pad (the information doesn't transfer to their regular computer system) after giving all my info to the front desk man, i waited about 10-15 minutes before asking how long until i saw the doctor. the man said they were waiting for a room to open up so i waited patiently for 15 more minutes...by this time it was 30 minutes past my appointment time. i asked again & quickly after, a nurse called my name. i followed the nurse to a cold room where she pointed & said "scale" so i stepped on. after she took my weight she said "sit" so i sat down. she proceeded to lift my arm for blood pressures & wrist for a pulse, all without saying a word. after taking my vials she sat down to a computer to ask me a few questions. before she started, i asked her if she was the nurse since she hadn't really spoken to me...she said yes so i asked if she ever introduces herself to patients when approaching them. she said no, because "most of our patients are old" WHAT? who says that? i said, "well, you should still introduce yourself so we know who you are" she said next time she would. after a few more questions (that i already answered on the touch pad when i came in) she then asked what i was there for. I answered her, though it was unsettling after being there for hours that she didn't know what my appointment was for. after that, i was directed to the bathroom and then to get undressed in the exam room & wait for the doctor. after i sat for a few minutes, the doctor came in & informed me that she wasn't sure why i was there since it hadn't been 12 months since my last exam & my insurance would not cover this visit. i was a little shocked. i asked why no one told me when i made my appointment that i wasn't due to come in for an exam? she said they don't pull the patients charts when making appointments because it would take too long. i was obviously not happy about this so i vented to her about my entire unpleasant experience there that day. the doctor apologized but nothing she could've done would make me want to go back to this facility again. i would rather travel further to get better quality service where people actually care about their business and their patients. i've worked at animal hospitals for over 10 years & know very well that being attentive to your clients needs is EVERYTHING. (& that goes for any profession) i had to sit in a dingy waiting room for far too long, deal with a nurse that was pretty much a robot, urinate in an unkept bathroom and get naked just to wait for a doctor to tell me to go home? to me...this is not ok. read more

I am also a fan of Dr. Gordon, although I do sometimes feel like she has more pharmaceutical sales reps than patients coming through the office. That, and the fact that she always seems to answer concerns by prescribing drugs. Then again, this may be the case with every single doctor out there. However, my ideal, "5-star" doctor would address more lifestyle issues and prescribe more therapy than medication. read more

Dr. Gordon seems to have pretty positive reviews but I have not had a great experience with her. I've been going to her for the last few years but am now planning on switching doctors. I always have to wait for a while before appointments, but that alone wouldn't cause me to switch. Every time I see Dr. Gordon she is in such a rush and doesn't take time to listen to me, explain what she's doing, and explain any results. She isn't terrible but I never felt any confidence that my health was in good hands or that she was looking over things carefully. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Gordon's office since 2004. My husband is also a patient. He and I typically see Sarah the PA, but I've also seen Dr. Gordon and Dr. Bang over the years. Everyone in this office is caring and knowledgeable. I've only had good experiences. My husband and I travel extensively to remote locations. This office is a travel center so we've been able to get everything from Anti-Malarial meds to Typhoid Fever vaccinations. It's nice to get it all done in one location! read more

First, this review in NO WAY REFLECTS DR. GORDON. When she was my doctor, SHE WAS A DELIGHT. I switched doctors at that office due to lack of availability with Dr. Gordon. On to the reason I am submitting a review: As one would expect, getting JANEBANGED was not a pleasant experience (My coworker wrote that line and it was too good not to include). But seriously, my overall concern with her is her bland/overly-professional personality and lack of bedside manner. Not sure the woman ever smiled. Also, there was the time she misdiagnosed me when I had mono. I understand that happens, but a simple Epstein-Barr test + symptom list should render pretty clear results. She denied my refill based on the most ridiculous thing ("I thought you were going to see a therapist, [so I figured] they could prescribe the medication"). She also did not allow even a 1-day window to refill another medication (before I ran out). She said that people would take advantage of the system. Well, my insurance allows a 3-4 day window and they are the ones paying so let's take the "everyone's a criminal" attitude down a notch. During another appointment, one of the staff members made a mistake. That poor girl; Dr. Bang pulled her in an empty patient room and reprimanded her on the spot. It's very obvious that all of the workers there are scared of her. The wait time is absolutely ridiculous. On average, I am there AT LEAST 2 hours after my scheduled appointment. She rambles about irrelevant things, but scolds you when you ask questions (you need to make another appointment for that concern). read more

The wait maybe long but then again you never go into the bank and get taken care of ASAP. Also if you have surgery you never really get the procedure done at the exacts time they tell you it has been scheduled for. It's funny I am reading all those negative comments because bet anything those are people that do not want to come in for further test and are just demanding and rude. I have been to the office and Dr. Gordon has patients she had been treating since she started her practice and as you can see when you do there they are still there. In case you all did NOT know we are all human and do have bad days in our life and shit will hit the fence occasionally but you are not perfect yourself. Anyway I have been her patient for 12 years + and she is a good person and yes all providers do not see eye to eye because its new medicine and old medicine. Everyone has their opinion. I have seen Dr. Gordon for over ten years and over the past year have been so unhappy with the state of her office staff and operations. My prescriptions are never called into the pharmacy correctly without my having to call repeatedly. Wait time is over an hour in the waiting room for a first am appointment. Her Physician's Assistant contradicts Dr. Gordon's prescribing practice and refers to her negatively when she's not around. And what finally led me to change doctors was an alarming message from Dr. Gordon's receptionist Marty, saying that I needed to schedule several expensive tests immediately. When I contacted Dr. Gordon to get more information about previous test results, she repeatedly avoided telling me when I kept asking for numbers point blank. It took three times asking, and even then, as I soon discovered, she gave me results that were out of date and not what I asked for, seemingly in an attempt to keep me on a name brand drug I was questioning that skewed several of my health concerns very negatively in a very short period of time. I've been seeing Dr Gordon for almost 5 years and refuse to change doctors. She is the best primary care physician within the St Joes network. She also has recommended me specialists that I have no complaints with. Sure her wait (depends on day and time) can be long but majority of doctors I've gone to have long wait times, especially when everyone is sicks. The staff/nurses are very friendly and helpful. Most of all, they all seem to enjoy what they do. They do have drug reps come thru over the lunch hour but who wouldn't want a free lunch. Plus, ever wonder how doctors get free samples for their patients?? I highly recommend Dr Gordon and very thankful for the care she has provided me. read more

Been going here for a while (several years). But my last visit was the straw that broke the camel's back. Waited over an hour an a half to see the doctor. Over and hour before I was even taken to a room from the dark, dingy waiting room. After a mild, slightly hostile back and forth with the woman at the front counter. She could not provide me with the details of my slightly pricey bill. Rather than printing a copy, she handwrote my symptoms from a past visit in impossible to read handwriting. But clearly didn't understand what I needed and was not easy to understand. I was put in a room and had my blood pressure taken and waited 30 minutes to be moved to another room to continue to wait. Dr Gordon is absolutely wonderful, I have been going to her for years, she is kind and thorough. Recently I have been seeing Lamia (sp??) she it the PT and I love her! When I had the flu she called me 3 times to check up on me, who does that and we are in Chicago, amazing! The only complaint I would have is with the receptionist, she is probably about as personable as the computer I am typing on. To the point of being rude at times. I feel bad saying this because everyone else is so great, but I realized how much this bothered me the other day when my friend asked me for a recommendation. She is searching for a new doctor. I told her that I would recommend Dr Gordon and Hefele to everyone because they are the best, but I followed it up with don't let the receptionist intimidate you. So that is my recommendation to anyone who is looking for a new doctor. read more

I have been going to Dr. Gordon's office for appx 26 years. I find it hard to believe all the negativety I have been reading on previous reviews. The office is never crowded. The staff are efficient and friendly. I resent someone using the word "pimp medication" to a person. They will offer some samples to see if they work. Dr. Gordon and her partner Dr. Hefele are beyond excellent physicians. I moved away from the neighborhood and still make my way back to their office. I fully trust them and recommend them to anyone who asks. read more
