This Coles is located very close to Manly Wharf which is pretty much across the street from this store. As you walk further down the street, you will find Manly Beach.
I had some time to burn before catching the ferry from Manly back to Circular Quay so I popped in to do a little shopping. Directly as you enter the store is the produce section. Further inside you will find the rest of the grocery offerings here. The store isn't as big as the World Square location I previously visited. But the store had what I was looking for. Selection seemed to be about the same.
The reason for the middling review is that I ran into a couple issues with checking out here. First one was that a razor that I scanned was priced incorrectly. I tried to cancel the transaction because of this, but the employee manning the self-checkout did a price check and corrected the price which was great. One thing to note about the self-checkouts here is that they seem to only accept payment cards.
But the larger issue was after I left the store and returned back to US. I thought the transaction went through fine as I saw the correct charge on my credit card a couple days later. But then I noticed a new charge on my statement from this purchase a couple weeks later which caused some aggravation.
I disputed the charge with my credit card company who reversed the charge a few days after. Apparently it was some sort of glitch as there was an article about this issue in the news. While the resolution was quick, it does make me question Coles payment systems as this has never happened to me before. I don't know if this was an one time thing or not, but it offered up a good lesson that you should check your bank and credit card statements for errors. read more
