Despite my daughter's physician being located downstairs and able to provide the form immediately, the appointment was cancelled and my daughter was denied care. As a result, my child is now in pain and without treatment. This was not a clinical issue. It was a front-desk failure and a complete lack of patient care. Multiple reviews already reference this same individual. Leadership needs to address this immediately!!

Unfortunately, that level of professionalism was not carried through the therapy sessions. Even at the first session, the therapist got me started with each exercise and then left without monitoring my mechanics. The therapists congregated at a center hub which required trying to get someone's attention if you had a question or after finishing the exercise. Then they would come over and instruct what to do next and walk off again. They also oversaw multiple clients at the same time so there was little personal attention. Half of my sessions were done by an unlicensed trainee who was not being supervised. Some of the exercises she gave me ended up making my problem worse but no one checked with me to see how I was doing. I also had to repeatedly ask for a printout of my exercises so I could do them at home. After a while, I would just write my own notes. I wasn't even confident that I was doing them correctly as I was only told once what to do. At the end of the 8 sessions, I walked out of there with no follow up evaluation and no discussion about further sessions. I was left with the feeling of lack of interest in my progress as if I had fallen through the cracks and no one cared how I was doing. Very different from another practice that gives one-on-one attention throughout all the sessions and careful monitoring of mechanics and progress.

Tells you his honest opinion. Tells you what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear. First injection didn't work, which he warned me of statistically beforehand. Second injection is next week. Said he will try twice and no more. He's not trying to add to his bank account by doing countless injections when statistically the chances of them working get drastically lower after #2. Calms my nerves with his great sense of humor. I'd HIGHLY recommend him to friends and my peers in the surgical community. It's a little weird for me personally being under the needle rather than holding it. Great experience though.

Dr. Wagner appears to be the authority for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, which might help with the tendonitis, and was recommended for prolotherapy of the hip. As an aside, if you're looking to do RPR, make sure you don't have Aetna, as they are the only insurance that doesn't cover this procedure. My DO (who I've reviewed here) refers his patients to Dr. Wagner for prolotherapy of the hip because he does it under fluoroscopy (a continuous X-ray), which is important because the hip joint is such a deep joint you don't want to go in there blind. Dr. Wagner seems like a nice guy, and very knowledgeable in his fields. After the first visit he ordered an MRI with contrast. At the second visit he checked out the MRI and it turns out that I don't have a torn labrum so he was unable to help me, and by the time the second visit came around I had my tendonitis under control. However, his demeanor and his apparent abilities gets him four stars in my book, although it should be noted that I have not had that much interaction with him. One thing that should be known about him is that when the diagnosis deals with something that falls outside his expertise he gives very conservative advice. For example, if one were to have femur-acetabular impingement he would advice no running, rowing, cycling, or any weight lifting that puts additional load onto the hip, even if it doesn't cause pain. This is not a bad thing, but a good thing, playing it safe with issues he's unfamiliar with is very reasonable. I merely mention this because I feel like it should be worth noting.

Persistently Non-communicative Office Support When Trying to Coordinate Care…read more On one hand, the doctors at INOVA Medical Group Sports Medicine are great - the challenge is getting the office support to respond in order to receive the care needed. We contacted them to get my wife's gel shots for her knee, which we have been doing since late 2023. Seems like every time is the first time they've done this. This year we contacted them in April to order the shots and never received a call back. Called again in May... nothing. Called again in June, and they finally ordered the shots but with two issues: it was a different prescription than my wife has had before that cost over 3x as much ($1466.99 vs $368.92) and because they didn't get it filled til July, the cost was 100% on us, since we were now in a new deductible year for our insurance (begins 1 July). When my wife tried to get help from the nurse manager, my wife got blamed for this dilemma and then via mychart messaging said she would no longer engage on this issue, since I reached out to INOVA Patient Relations for their assistance - who have also not returned any of my calls. Additionally, I messaged my wife's doctor directly via mychart and have not received any communication there as well. I've spoken with initial office staff who logged our concerns on 19, 24, and 26 August - promised each time I'd receive a call back; but none have occurred. Very disappointing to be stonewalled this way considering the great medical care we've both received from the doctors in this practice. 27 Aug UPDATE: After writing the above on 26 August, sent this to my doctor and let them know I'd be posting this on the 27th if I hadn't heard anything back from them by noon that day. Saw a mychart post that they called and left a VM for my wife on her mobile that morning. I've previously explained to them that my wife has no cell access during their operating hours, and have repeatedly given them my number instead since I'm retired and available all throughout the day. Called that person back in the morning and once in the afternoon and sent the info to my wife who called and had to leave a VM as well, but neither of us ever received a call back, today (27th). Called their main number and was connected to one of the persons who attempted to help me previously. She apologized and said that she was messaging with the office manager and that it had been elevated. She confirmed my number and said I'd receive a call from one of the same two people who were supposed to have called me on the 24th. I asked if they'd call me today, and she said they'd call when they got out of their meeting; told them I'd be patiently waiting. No one called. I made an appointment with Dr. Antonis at OrthoVirginia's McClean Office. After a long drive to my appointment I was told it was canceled because Dr Antonis does do backs anymore and that they had called me on 6/1. I was able to show the front desk on my phone there were no incoming calls that day and I hadn't heard from anyone at any other point. So they were pretty disorganized. While the receptionist tried to find another doctor, her back office provided a quick no. I would have liked to have known they really tried but it didn't seem like it. Overall it was to very disappointing experience as their office comes crossed as being disorganized in that they didn't 1.) let people know of the change with Dr Antonis, 2.) inform me at all (email and text and call please or at least for 2 of 3 so you have back up measures), and 3.) seem too interested in helping or remedying my situation, despite their mistake. The front desk receptionist was cordial and did make an attempt for me so that was a good experience. But she clearly was shut down pretty quickly by the back office, which made things worse.

I have been woefully remiss in a review of this awesome Doctor who I first started using back in…read more2018 when I was referred by my primary Ortho Virginia Doctor to help fix a Bakers Cyst and very recently for a PRP to my shoulder, hoping to avoid surgery. Dr Antonis describes himself as "registered diagnostic medical sonographer with a special interest in ultrasound point-of-care exams and ultrasound-guided procedures, including platelet-rich plasma and newer orthobiologic agents, to augment healing" and he has become my go to Doctor for issues that are out of the scope of my regular Orthopedic surgeon . Back in 2018 I could not run or walk and Dr Antonis fixed my issues taking care to show me the issue using ultrasound and then on the dates of procedure took great care using needles to get the fluid out. I am back jogging. So, when my MRI recently came back with arthritis and a tear in my shoulder, it was a choice between surgery or visiting Dr Antonis who I immediately requested take a look and when I did, he thought (as my own primary care doctor did) that this procedure could help with pain relief. Before the procedure, one of his staff Amy O'Masta ,a Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer and a critical resource to me, sat down and took the time to explain the process, procedure very patiently and once the procedure is agreed upon (remember Dr Antonis has to agree the procedure is beneficial) Amy is so very helpful with follow-up questions and procedures. As a certified trainer she was invaluable to coordinating with my PT folks providing both the necessary paperwork, prescriptions to take before and after and explaining what the patient should be doing. From week to days, you are left with clear instructions. On the day of the procedure, I had also arranged for my wife to be checked for the opposite shoulder and we both showed up to their new really nice office around the corner from the old. Parking is provided and the office was easy to locate. On check-in, it was easy and since I had to be hydrated, the front office staff provided water. When we both were brought in, my wife wentt first and Dr Antonis was able to visually able to show her what was going on and gave her some alternatives (like me) to surgery. My wife, who hates medicine of any kind, felt very reassured by Dr Antonis and opted to take a cortisone shot for relief. She did not feel pressured in any way (to the contrary). While this was going on, my blood was being drawn by a nurse (really nice) Before my procedure Amy again explained in great detail and showed me visually what was about to happen. On the procedure itself, while I was really nervous, Dr Antonis took great care and time (even turning on music from the 70s) explaining every step of the procedure in real time. Having him continually speaking, and letting me know what I was about to feel was really helpful finishing this procedure. He was assisted by Meghan who was great. After the procedure Dr Antonis again ensured I was comfortable and started exercising my hand to keep blood flowing. He really is an outstanding Doctor. Amy then took over and as a certified trainer, showed me the exercises I should be following both at home and at PT. She took her time and ensured we had all the information we needed before leaving. I follow-up in 4 weeks and hope this procedure will help me avoid surgery. A big thank you to Dr Antonis, Meghan and especially Amy (big kudos). If you have any sports issues or ones I mentioned above, I highly recommend seeing Dr Antonis for a second opinion and to perform the procedure if you qualify. He is outstanding and one of a very few Doctors who shows such empathy with his patients.

In January of this year, I experienced a flare up like never before - which landed me in the ER, followed by an urgent care visit. I was referred by my doctor to physical therapy and wanted to find a place close to my home, as I was unable to sit up or drive much for several weeks, due to the unrelenting pain... The team at Amber is so wonderful! They are extremely knowledgeable and pleasant! Ms. Tina started me on a program that has helped to manage my pain and get me on the track to healing. I was not sure if I would get any significant relief for my pain and restored mobility through PT - but the program that I have been doing has helped, tremendously! For me, the key has been to follow their directions and continue to do the exercises at home, between PT visits. I am so thankful for the Amber crew! Mr. Stanton had his opinions to share at this practice, so why can't I share my honest opinions here? I relayed exactly what happened at the office. I'm also not alone in my experience. Also writing my review here because Dr. Stanton has his friends write 5 star reviews for him on Google. I went to see Dr. Stanton for severe back pain. My husband and I were the only ones there with the doctor, who started off by complaining about his neighbors, the bad drivers from "other countries" (my parents are immigrants), specifying particular cultures and stereotypes, and how sensitive people were nowadays. It took 10 minutes and 3 voicemails on speaker (HIPAA violation) from other patients for him to ask me about my actual health concerns. When he talked about my back and chiropractic care, he did seem knowledgeable. However that was overshadowed by the other comments and stories that went on and on, unprovoked and unasked for. Neither I nor my husband asked for his opinions on political or social views. The doctor continued to discuss his opinion on Supreme Court decisions, abortion, politicians taking time for paternity leave - "maternity leave should only be for women to recover from birth" - so my husband shouldn't be allowed to take paternity leave to care for the baby? A lot more was said that I blocked out while he was speaking because I was so baffled at what he was saying and could not bear to listen anymore. My husband asked if I wanted to leave multiple times, but I was afraid if I spoke out, that I would not get the treatment I was there for - desperately in pain and pregnant, needing some relief. I also thought he would manipulate my treatment if I spoke out. I saw a post on Yelp from someone with a very similar experience to mine, to which the doctor commented very rude and heinous comments back to the poster (please see review here on Yelp). We will never be back to that practice. *in response to the Dr's comments on my Google review (which he did not apologize for and instead made excuses saying it was our fault): 1) what he was saying about other people was unnecessarily harsh and unfair. I only relayed what he said. 2) I already mentioned in my post that when it came to chiropractic care, he seemed knowledgeable. My back is by no means fixed, it was a temporary relief from him. We are also friendly people so obviously we said thank you. I also wrote that if I said anything bad to him or left, I would have been afraid of repercussions from him. My husband did not shake his hand 3) he answered the phone on SPEAKER, a HIPAA violation because I heard everything from each patient. He didn't ask me to wait while he did that, he just spoke and spoke. I had to tell him I was in pain from sitting and standing for him to stop his storytelling. We did act uncomfortable, and again, didn't want to say anything because of his earlier comments about "people being so sensitive nowadays." No amount of experience prepares you to have controversial conversations with patients you have met for the first time. I have not made anything up and am prepared to swear so under oath. ------- I do feel better physically after an adjustment, but that was a horror show of the most grossly unprofessional visit I've ever had to any professional's office, medical or otherwise. While his (very fast and probably competent) adjustment relieved my pain, his total unprofessionalism outweighed any benefit. I was there for 2.5 hours, and it was an absolute nonstop tirade of racist, misogynist, anti-Semetic, homophobic comments and profanity. I felt completely trapped, and at one point, was about to get up and leave (I was and still am afraid of retaliation from him). Very little of the time I spent there was on my medical issue, and instead it was just this long pontification. From the moment I sat down (he kept the door open while we went through my medical history; the entire office could hear), it was a nightmare. I said absolutely nothing to prompt any of this, and made no indication that I was enjoying this conversation. He talked The. Entire. Time. I wanted to record this but I was unable to reach my phone during the visit. I took notes afterwards in the parking lot of the car. This actually occurred: -He gave his views on gay marriage, said that gay men spread AIDs due to promiscuity, and that he wasn't fine with "man-man stuff" but that "woman-woman" was okay because they raise "great families". (NOTE: I am a gay woman, and as he was saying this, he was looking at a paper where I clearly had my female partner listed as my point of contact) -His opinion on the current state of immigration and that immigrants were bringing tuberculosis into America. -His opinions on promiscuity, sex before dating, and the importance of knowing a person before beginning a physical relationship (REMINDER: I was here for back pain) -Constantly cursing: started with c**p and s**t, moved up to f**k. Every topic had this sprinkled throughout. -Anti-Semitism: genetic culture of Jewishness, Jewish insularness caused by wanting to protect their economic power. Their physical weakness ("name one Jewish athlete"), and having to compensate through "buying Hollywood in the '30s" which he somehow connected to Harvey Weinstein. Jews charging Gentiles unfair pricing and committing sanctioned murder because "it's in their holy books" -The current state of US politics, who he voted for, who he hated. -Asian people are good at math, because their languages are based on pictures that convey concepts, much like calculus. They are not good at learning "our" language, but Asians who are succeed, so they become rich, and have more kids. Poor Asians do not have more kids. He "knows" white students who, when they walk in a college class and see it's majority Asian, walk out of the class because they know the grading will be unfair against them. -A competence gap exists between white people and African Americans because African Americans don't understand technology. Because they came from Africa, they are good at agriculture, dancing, moving, and singing. They best understand information when conveyed in song, so he thinks technological concepts should be taught to African Americans in schools "in limericks or rhymes". ***African American people understand technology better than they would have because they were brought here as slaves and white people "introduced them to the wheel and the written alphabet, which they had no use for in Africa"*** -Women and millennials are too sensitive now, and you can't say what you mean anymore without "getting in trouble" or people getting all offended. At the end, after doing my best to get the heck out of there, when I asked if I had a copay, he leaned back with his hands over his head and said "Naaah, we'll work it out next time or something, send you a bill, whatever." He said I was free to go; I wonder if the billing on this isn't going to be a complete mess later, especially once I post this. I am not a liar. This actually happened. While he is absolutely entitled to his personal views, I don't think that there was any call for him to basically bring this out in a verbal torrent. It had nothing to do with my or any treatment, and I did nothing to encourage it. Stay away from this office.
