The restroom's are nasty you can barely pee the smell is awful and for the price you pay the night . I don't think so

I give this place two stars, just because the restrictions not being able to have a restroom and a shower tent up, or you will get a fine for having one. The restroom was dirty which I didn't like the trash containers were full. The days we were there they weren't being empty, also there was trash everywhere. The reason they don't let portable bathrooms tents is because people would throw their poop into the river which is disgusting people need to respect Gods nature, please don't leave trash when you leave. Besides all this place is beautiful slightly quiet but some noisy with cars and motorcycles racing on the Main Street going up or down hill. Be careful and stay safe have a wonderful time, oh also didn't see or hear any bears just foxes read more

Its a first come first serve campground. Bring cash! The site offers plenty of shade. Every time ive gone theres been an on site ranger that remains at the camp which offers reassurance. The bathroom is not the best and has spiders. I usually bring a portable toilet. read more

Amazing first-come-first-served campground. This place is a remarkable bargain for family camping, with huge, uncrowded spots, beautiful nature trails, and lots more. I found this great campground thanks to Yelp. Read reviews for helpful instructions! The road here from town is really pretty. The trees, plants and vegetation growing roadside along the climb are spectacular. One of the wild flowering plants reminds me of a Dr Seuss animation, with pale green plumes flowering into towering pontoon shaped vertical branches. Drive the loop before committing to a spot so you get the best one available! Pay at the station by envelope at entrance for your chosen campsite. My last campground experience was amazing. After I packed up my tent, and drove away from my campsite, I saw something amazing. I wish I had a picture. The night before, I overheard a middle of the night scuffle, and a little girl crying. A few young men were screaming racist comments, throwing rocks and what not. By morning, I was done soul searching and had decided to tell someone about the late night incident. "We don't tolerate intolerance, or racist harassment at the parks and recreation." The camp host said. "Can you keep an eye on the little girl across from my campsite please? She had a rough night." I requested. As I drove away, I saw the little girl, surrounded by a crowd sticking up for her, including park officials, and local sheriff. She looked a little scared, but happy, and safe! It's nice to know this campground will rally to protect a little girl who needs help. Honestly, it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Beautiful campground, had a great time for all of 3 hours, but when night hit everything changed. A large brown bear appeared around camp around 7-8, and I kept approaching me and another couple camping nearby. If I hadn't scared it off I don't know what would've happened, a lot of the people camping nearby were gone by the time I came out of my tent. Really scary stuff. Would not come here after dark. read more

Very pretty camping spot. But beware of bears! Only 21 campsites which are first come, first serve. $12 per night. BEWARE! Bears in the area. The campground host will not inform you. There are about 3 of them. They aren't scared of humans or loud noises. They will get into your food. Be alert because they don't just come in the middle of the night. I was there on 6/27/23 and one bear came out around 7 pm. Store food to the best of your ability. And always pick up your trash!!! Be careful The rangers were informed back on 6/3/23 about the bears but said they couldn't do anything about it until something happened. I suggested relocating them but was just told it was their home. Which is true but they should at least then mention they're in the area. After having encountered them again just recently they seem more aggressive than before. I hope they close the campground before anything serious happens since they can't do anything about them. The photo: We didn't even spend the night at our campsite because the bears just kept coming back. A lot of people either packed up and left that night or came back the next morning to get their stuff. That's what we did, we left tents but took all our food and came back the next morning. We were going to stay from 6/27 - 7/5 but we decided it was best to leave for our safety. Hoping to get our money back since we paid the full amount for the 8 nights. Camp is nice with lots of shade, all spots close to the water. Been camping here for a while.

Place is $12. First come first serve. Bring exact change!! If you're lucky you can find a spot right in front of the river. It was over 100 degrees when we went mid august. Water was clean and refreshing! Not too cold. So nice to wake up to the sound of the water. Sites are pretty far apart from eachother giving some privacy. Only Vault toilets no showers, bathroom not the cleanest. Lots of flies and wasps. read more

I love this small campground but it gets 3 stars for the graffiti on the tree and Boulder at my site and trash everywhere. This brings me such sadness that poeple lack the respect for nature that they would deface it like this. I had the best site, think it was 12, right along the creek. It's a shady spot with room for a 6 person tent and maybe a 4 person. My mom and I stayed here a few weeks ago after they reopened. The camp host was awesome and checked in on us many times. He even helped me jump my car on the morning I was leaving, so I gave him a bottle of wine. I was so sad about the trash, so I cleaned my site, the site next door and anything on my walks around the campground. Always leave nature cleaner than when you found it. It's not the camp hosts job to clean up after you! Even though we had obnoxious poeple drive through in the middle of the night with their race cars, it was pretty peaceful. This place is literally in my back yard because I live in Glendora. I've been waiting more than a year for this campground to reopen and I'm glad they did. This place is awesome! A small brook runs through my site which is super cool. My bf and I had a great time playing in it; the downside was that a lot of other campers kept coming over. It was also a great place to watch stars at night- so peaceful and serene. Little critters paid us several visits at night; their rustling kept us on the edge, since we were aware of a bear attack in those mountains a few weeks back. Firewood: We found a lot of tinder, but not enough big logs to sustain ourselves for the night. As a result, we drove up to Crystal Lake [approx. 8 miles north] for some. The store, which is also the cafe that everyone mentioned, sells them by the wheelbarrow for $20. Tip 1: Check out is 2pm and not all campsites are the same size. Most of our neighbors seem to pack up around in the late morning, although that doesn't mean getting there early will get you a good spot. Tip 2: Bring a pen + know you car plate+ number on your Adventure pass when you go to the front and pay up. My campsite was pretty far, so my bf had to walk back and forth several times to get all the required information. read more

My first time camping here @ Coldbrook. The drive to campsite was very easy, after getting off the 210 fwy just head north to the mountains. We had the best site on the campground with the stream just at our feet. Not as many mosquitos as expected, which was great! Our neighbors next to us did get a visit from a bear around 6pm, but took off after hearing a very annoying air horn and us pounding the pans! Stayed 2 nights from wed-fri morning. Would go back? We were up there this past weekend (4/13 & 14). My husband got there before me at around 11 am and he said that almost all the sites were already taken. One thing that was different then any of the other times we've gone... Mosquitos! Lotsssss of them. Plus those large scary mosquito hunters. None of us were bit, but be prepared. Also, strangely enough some serious winds started blowing around midnight. 26+mph winds..blew our mosquito canopy house thingie down the embankment from site 9 to the water and got caught in some trees. its a 12x12 foot canopy with netting and we had it staked down. It blows for about 2-3 hours then just stops. The temperature at night was around a brisk 42 or so. So bring a good sleeping bag or a Mr. Buddy heater. We were blessed with amazing camping neighbors... NONE played loud music, they were sharing and friendly and the kids all played together. LOVE this place. read more

My boyfriend and I just left today after spending 3 nights and 4 days there, after arriving on a Thursday evening. We were kind of leaning more toward dispersed camping, but didnt want to be in trouble for lighting fires in the Angeles National Forest, especialy because the fire danger was pretty high. The campsite we ended up bunking at was campsite #12, at the second loop of the campgrounds. We had the best one of all the 26-ish sites, being that we were more secluded, and had a private access to a stream below us. All the days and nights spent there, we loved it more and more. The camp host, Ron, was more than amazing. He made his rounds many times during the day, cleaning up and keeping people to following camp rules. He came by our place and introduced himself, told us the history of the site and of the 2 stray kitties that roamed the area. He comes around to the same spot everyday just to feed them, which is insanely sweet. My guess is that some past visitors left them behind and they never left. They kind of adopted the place as their new home. I dont have any bad things to say about the place, only just want to mention some interesting things that happened while we were there. My boyfriend and I saw it as interesting, while we can understand if other people think its annoying. On one morning, we woke up to a helicopter flying over the site, making lots of rounds. It was about 6:30am, slightly foggy and really cold. We didnt understand what was going on, so we dismissed it as the navy or marines conducting training, as there was a base of one or the other nearby. We later found out that a car had skidded off the road into a ravine nearby and the helicopter was actually looking for the car. Ron later told us that the weird thing of that whole incident was that they never found anyone inside the vehicle and there was no trace (like blood) inside the car. We also were told that that particular spot near the ravine is a popular place where cars are dumped and lots of car accidents. I would warn that driving slowly is highly suggested because the roads are pretty wind-y and there are various sharp turns. On another day, we came came back to our site to find a car parked there. My boyfriend walked around to find the owners and found a lady, a toddler and probably her daughter down at the stream. They moved quickly but things got weird fast. Our neighbor from across the way smelled chemical fuels and saw smoke in an area not part of the grounds. It was on the side of the mountain. She came over to us with her daughter and them 2 and my boyfriend saw some flames from down by the stream and saw a tent pitched and a ring of fire crackling near the stream. This was not a site to be camped at so we definitely wanted to bring that to Ron's attention. He was already making his rounds so we told him what we saw. He quickly went down to the stream and kicked them out. They had the audacity to ask if we "tattled" on them. Um no, dumbs dumbs, you gave yourself away. First of all, they illegally made a fire which the first camp rule says that building a fire was not permitted ANYWHERE ! This is exactly how careless people cause forest fires ! We were so impressed with how Ron handled the situation so we helped out by cleaning the trash they left behind. All in all, we had a great experience at Coldbrook and really are impressed with Ron. He was friendly, approachable and we can tell how much he cares about the campgrounds. Great job, Ron ! We hope to visit with you again ! read more

Pretty spot for a quick & convenient camping trip ! Dogs are allowed, camp fire is also allowed ! Spot #7 was secluded & provided a picnic table, fire pit and BBQ for $12 per night. Spent 2 nights and on the first night (Friday) was quiet and peaceful. The next day was much louder but still enjoyable. A few steps down was the creek, which was flowing but not at all deep. Lots of mosquitoes near the water, but not much on the site. Bathrooms, however, bugs and spiders were plenty in the one closest to our site! Probably cuz the door was kept open overnight ? One of the worst PortPotty I've been in.. The host, I believe Ron, was a nice guy and friendly! Said we were lucky to get a site cuz everything was full! Great Trip ! read more

Boyfriend and I wanted to go camping to get away from the stress of our employment and finance related burdens. Had originally planned on going further up the mountain but the snow had the roads closed. So we decided to go here. $10 with an adventure pass and $12 without for one night. And MAN was that a deal. It's a bit of a walk from the back of the grounds to the kiosk up front so make sure you have your license and car info. But if you don't like walking, don't go camping?? This campground is probably one of the best I'd gone to. I'm no expert camper but I didn't want a super commercialized place either. Each spot is the perfect size. Fire pits and a separate grill. All of our neighbors were peaceful and polite. They have vault latrines which weren't hardly full at all, and trash chutes throughout the grounds. Right up against a ravine so we had no wind issues. A 10 minute drive up the mountain and we could go play in the snow if we wanted. I'm definitely going again when the weather gets warmer! I couldn't recommend this place more than I already have! Definitely saved our heads this past weekend! We are so grateful. read more

Drove up to Coldbrook Campground from Burbank, it's about a 1 hour drive if you go when it's not traffic-city. It's a nice site if you are beginning camping... about 25 campsites, they are all pretty close to each other. They have a table, a grill, and a firepit. There's a nice stream that most of them are by, so it's nice to go to sleep to... There is a latrine only (not a flushing toilet and no sink) so be aware. (and it was pretty gross.) The camp site we chose (#24) was a great spot but unfortunately a lot of jerks left trash on the ground... have some respect people! We cleaned up our site after we got done with it and filled up a huge Hefty bag with crap. Oh the highway road is right by the site.. so you may hear some motorcycles and cars by throughout the night. it's $12 a night, if you have an adventure pass it's $10. There are trails near by but you have to drive and park and you need an adventure pass, and we didn't have one.. so we didn't go. read more

I really liked this spot. We initially got a camp ground not by the river, but someone didn't show up for their reservation so we got a really cute spot. If you want privacy I wouldn't stay at the river site because that's where most people go to cross and explore. But if you don't mind people walking through your site then it's no biggy! Lots of caterpillars! And a short drive from Crystal Lake. We stayed at Coldbrook and went to Crystal Lake one of the days. There's also a little place nearby to grab lunch or supplies. LOTS of night crawlers at night, so fun if you've never experienced it. read more

I like this place because of the campgrounds are so close to the water, and when you're laying down in your tent you can hear the water flowing. The restrooms are okay. They smell really bad and have a bunch of flies, so we took our own little restroom tent. Way better than going into the restroom. There should be signs for the over flow parking. When i went I thought there was only one over flow, and it was full. I had two other cars coming and we already had two cars in our spot. So I bought another camp spot. Which I spent like $40 on both. Then the guy came later and said there was another spot for over flow which we had no idea they had. So I spent a lot of money so I can have two other cars. There was a lot of trash in our area so I grabbed a bag and started picking up trash. read more

Me and a group of friends went for the weekend and we had a great time. People have left reviews saying party animals stay away and what not but it's not that bad of a place. Just keep the noise down and don't be rude to neighbors and I'm sure you can have a great time. read more

Camp ground is pretty clean. There is a camp host that keeps watch over the camp ground. It has clean vault toilets, trash cans, grill and fire ring with grill that you can flip out of the way. If you have Verizon service you won't get signal which for me I enjoy. The other services I'm not sure. read more

We wanted a place to try out camping with our 10month old to see how she'd do. This was perfect-- right in LA's backyard. It was great to drive an hour and be in a place so many Angelenos never travel to. So here are some random thoughts to help you get a better picture: The campground stays pretty full- we drove up Friday around 1 or 2ish and there were maybe 5 empty spots- but they were filled by nighttime. The campground isn't high enough to be alpine- think oak trees and desert plants. We had a bear come visit at 5pm trying to get our food (so keep your food locked or hanging-- even in the daylight), a rattlesnake come through at night, and a different bear the next morning. Apparently these two are regulars but the camp host didn't mention it and there were no indications on the sign at the entrance- so consider this your warning. The bears were pretty docile and just wanted food- didn't seem aggressive (not that they can't turn, just that they weren't "looking" for a fight). Being so close to the city, there were lots of motorcycles driving the roads late at night. I think I heard the last one around 11:15, so while you're camping, it is by no means quiet. And on that note, several of the other camping groups were pretty loud, too. Music was almost always blasting from someone's car/phone/radio- with no attempt to keep it down. Arguments raged. All in all, it was a pretty spot and fun to have a bit of a brook traveling through camp (pretty rocky shore, so watch for snakes here, too) but being so close to the city brought too many people with no camping etiquette. That being said, it served our purpose and we're ready to take our girl to BLM land where camping will mean being away from the crowds. Also, if you drive up the road to Crystal Lake campground there is a small store where you can buy firewood, odds and ends, and lunch. They are much bigger, so if Coldbrook is full keep driving and they'll probably have room. The lake itself is pretty low and green- definitely not safe for swimming but we saw a few fishermen along the edge. read more

Camped here with my boyfriend this weekend and everything was great! There's a running stream that runs throughout the campground so you can go down to it from most sites. We stayed at site #2 which is a fully shaded area across from the bathroom. Campsites are first come first served so we arrived Friday afternoon and no one was there! Only downfall to this trip was that no one was allowed to have a campfire due to recent fires in the area. Will definitely visit again if we want a short weekend getaway. read more
