The ice cream was roc solid and not even remotely close to the appropriate temperature, making it literally impossible to scoop. Furthermore, this store REALLY needs better management. So Recently, I was at Cold Stone, thinking I was going to get my dessert in a timely fashion, but that was not the case. Let me tell you, I was genuinely shocked by the horrible experience I received. If you're craving Coldstone I'd probably skip this location. It wasn't the cleanest and the ice cream really didn't look that appetizing - granted they were closing in an hour so I understand them being at the end of many flavors, but it just looked messy. Many of the flavors looked slimy and wet. The mix ins weren't mixed that well and the ice cream and cookie dough tasted a little off and the cookie dough was hard. My boyfriend's ice cream (not pictured) was completely soft and melted like a shake in a cup. My ice cream had a pecan mixed in it and I didn't have anything with nuts so I'm guessing they didn't wipe the stone down between making creations so beware if you have nut allergies. I swear it has been decades since I've stepped into a Cold Stone Creamery. Mainly because of dietary restrictions and there just aren't many around near my neighborhood. We walked into this little storefront off Townline Road past the mall. The staff person was sweet and let me try a sample of the Mike's Hot Honey flavor. It was ok, but the heat was from the Hot Honey and nothing to do with the ice cream. I went with something called Hunka Chunka burning love (I think) which was a Sundae with pieces of brownie, chocolate fudge, whipped cream and nuts. It was sweet and not much flavor to the ice cream. What I loved best about it was the chopped pecans and whipped cream (not real). I had forgotten that you can customize your treat with a medley of add-ins. As we were leaving, a father and young child came in and they were so excited at the prospect of candy in ice cream. That is who this store is for. The best thing about this? Honestly. I ordered a large waffle dish, I got a dish medium sized and they OVERLOADED IT. I couldn't even pay before it was dripping all over my hands and the floor and my shoes. Our bill was $36 for 4 larges so ideally price is good. But I went to pay with a $50 bill. It was all literal kids working not one adult, they all looked clueless (10/18/25 for any managers). There are NO signs saying "we don't accept $20 's" or "we don't accept $50's" and that's all I had to pay with because I knew there was no signs saying otherwise. I remember being fascinated by the idea of mixing toppings in the ice-cream over a slab of cold stone. Fast forward to present time, I just went again to a Cold Stone Creamery after a long time. I was craving their ice-cream on a hot day so just had to have it. When I got to this location, they were semi-busy. That helped me and my family make our decision as we weren't quite ready to order right away. Once we were ready, I ordered a medium Butter Pecan mixed in w/ bananas and marshmallows, a small Mud Pie sundae w/ Sweet Cream ice-cream instead of Coffee ice-cream and a kids size Rocky Road w/ rainbow sprinkles. All of our ice-cream was good. I really liked their Butter Pecan (don't remember if I had it before at C S C or not) ice-cream. It was smooth and creamy (but was melting fast) as we were sitting outside in the sun...heheh! We received good service and the price to portion ratio was good. You definitely get your money's worth. These days, I don't see many Cold Stone Creamery shops so it's good to have this one around. And I am glad that it's them as opposed to the other similar ice-cream shop that originated the concept of mixing ice-cream on a cold stone slab. I didn't like that one. My observations of Cold Stone Creamery in Vernon Hills are less than favorable. Look at all the negative reviews. I have never set foot in the Cold Stone Creamery in Vernon Hills or any of their other locations. However, on January 9, 2025, I incurred a $45.45 charge from this store on my VISA account. I contacted VISA and the Vernon Hill's Police Department, my card is now frozen. I tried numerous times to contact the store located on Townline Road, but no one answered the phone. It took three days till finally contacted someone. They didn't identify themselves or take the matter seriously. Someone from Cold Stone emailed (never identifying themselves) to say my card was swiped and the receipt was signed. When I tell them it was fraudulent it seems to fall on deaf ears. No one identifies themselves there and they don't seem to take credit card theft this seriously. They made it sound as if I was lying The people I spoke to were rude and condescending. Not only are the health standards there low, but you can have to watch out for identity theft. read more

I've never went to a Cold Stone in my life so this was my first one and believe me it is really good. I have been to this location twice since the prices are good and ice cream is nice. The service is good most of the time it takes a while for someone's order to be completed especially with big groups. We were treated very rudely by a young employee. As we were heading out with two 3 year old girls, hopped up on ice cream, we were scolded very loudly to "Control our children." She told us "this is a restaurant not a playground." We had our coats and were heading for the door. I am also 9 months pregnant and slow moving and hard to maneuver. Have to say I was extremely disappointed with the customer service there. Falls right in line apparently with all the other negative reviews of this place. I was never asked if I wanted toppings and the two individuals serving us were pretty rude. When asked if I could at least have topping on the side the guy obliged but used his hands (no gloves or scoop) to grab the stuff. During covid I'd expect better protocols in place around that stuff. First of all, they have special sizes for ice cream portions: Like it, Love it & Gotta have it. They have assorted ice cream & yogurt flavors to chose from. Then you can choose a cup or waffle cup. And then - just when you think you have completed your selection --- there are Toppings to choose from. I fell in love with the cake batter & cheesecake flavors. We have been coming to this location for many years and have been very satisfied, but tonight the line was long and Sam a former employee was behind the counter distracting the team. When we talked to the blonde (because she would not give us her name) who checked us out she sassed to us that Sam really wasn't distracting her because she was filling an order and doing the dishes. That may be true, but she forgot to say she was filling Sam's online order. I had my boyfriend talk about cold stone for almost two months. Asking if we could go because he wanted their Blueberry Doughnut shake. This location is the nearest (at 40 minutes away). We decided to swing by on our way home Chicago. Even though it was going to set us back about a hour. We drove in the snow. Just to get there and be told that they don't make the blueberry doughnut shake anymore. That's fine. I get it. However turns out the company still does make them.
