Nice visit to this Branch! It was super super crowded and there were no places to eat! We ordered 2 chocolate brownie ice cream with fudge sauce! They were very delicious and creamy. My only complaining that because of the shortage of employees, the stuff were busy, distracted and made my orders incomplete and forgot to add rhe fudge sauce. A fairly nice place to stop for some ice cream. The staff were nice and worked at a good enough pace (not that they should be pressured to work fast in the first place). The actual interior was fairly crowed, especially during rush, which was when we stopped in. The line was somewhat confusing, we accidentally cut the line because it was kind of hard to tell the difference between the online pickup line and the ordering line. The ice cream was fairly good, especially for a chain location. It didn't feel cheap, and had a nice variety. Obviously not the BEST thing in the world, but what do you expect from a chain? I will say that the menu was kind of overwhelming to choose from. There was just too much going on. The guy behind the counter sneezed into his hand and blew his nose and did not wash his hands afterward and then continued to make my ice cream. 4 yrs ago I gave this place a 5 star. We been coming to this cold stone for years. Unfortunately, I had to down grade drastically due to some VERY crappy service directed to my wife. She went in to get a late fathers day cake and asked the two kids behind the counter to write a message on the cake. One said no and to ask the other guy, not sure why she had to ask his co-worker and not him? anyways, she asked the other kid and he said he could not, she asked why? he said, go ask the other guy? She finally asked why can't they cant write simple message, cant they write or spell? He replied with, " not really" . I will never come here again. This it to bad because we loves the ice cream but bad service with crappy attitudes is not worth it. read more

I have twin boys who are autistic. Our first experience here was a bit busy on a warming day. Perfect day for ice cream. We were excited to go as we had heard great things. The staff were nice, they were young, but I understood the stress. In high school worked in an ice cream shop and it was stressful in the summer. They were impatient with one of my boys who has difficulties with speech and language and quickly brushed him off, looking to me to order for him. That was so hurtful and uncalled for. A little patience goes a long way. We got our food and in between bites my son needs to destimulate due to the busy-ness of the store, it was loud, odors, etc. so he spins. We sat in the corner so he could spin and not get in the way. The looks and whispers! Literally people couldn't stop staring. This included the staff. One laughed. I said "that's it we're leaving." Why I love this place: this is the ONLY ice cream I can put in the freezer and it still taste amazing after some days. Taste will always satisfy your sweet tooth and leave you wanting more! Addressing the horrible ratings: I have not once experienced bad service here. This is the closest location to me and I don't ever regret coming here. Portions may vary but not horrible. I was super excited to retry a place I'd only been to once and introduce my husband to the ice cream holy land. The prices aren't exactly cheap but I was not disappointed with what I got for what I spent. I got the Founders Favorite while my husband got a peanut butter concoction, both Love It sized. As their ad says "Seriously, you had me at Oreo", says it all. We stopped by here Sunday after the Kalamazoo Growlers Game. It was the first time I had been in the S. Westnedge location and quite a few years since I had Cold Stone ice cream. I had a gift card and a couple of $1 off coupons from the Growlers game to use. The server behind the counter was friendly and explained how the whole experience works. I chose the Oreo Overload in the Love It size. The sweet cream ice cream made it taste like I was eating a bowl of Oreo filling. And I love the fudge that was added to it. D had the Banana Caramel Crunch, which he really liked. I had no idea they sold Rocky Mountain Chocolates. Nice to know for a special occasion. read more

Have been here several times. Staff is always nice and the ice cream never disappoints. They're pretty flexible with mixing flavors. I could see people finding the ice cream too rich in sugar, and their prices are a little high, but neither of these have bothered me personally. read more

I don't know if it's my age or where I'm from or what, but I sure wish there were a lot more Baskin-Robbins/31 Flavors around the country. While it's neat to watch the staff here create your particular flavor right in front of you, the line was long, the time it took to custom create it was long and the prices charged just don't come close to BR/31 or the like. Cold Stone Creamery in my mind revolutionised ice cream as we know it. I remember the first time I had one of their creations, and now most ice cream places follow suit. They hand dip your ice cream and you can add what toppings you want or pick one of their combinations from their menu and they fold the toppings into the ice cream, so it's mixed throughout, not just on top. Their flavours are decadent and delicious, and their are endless possibilities. They also have ice cream cakes to take home. The employees are very friendly and fun and sure to make you smile. There is little seating however, so snag a seat when you first come in or take it casual and sit on the curb outside. read more

I ordered a love it size sweet cream and the shorter girl with brown/reddish brown hair was very rude to me when I asked if I could have a sample of another flavor before choosing my selection. Her coworker, on the other hand, seemed very polite to the guest ahead of me so I guess I was the lucky one to get the person with the bad attitude. Spending $6 for a single ice cream and then having her expect a tip on top of bad service....no thanks. I also overheard a different customer complain about the same girl before I left. Cold Stone Creamery in Portage is the perfect spot to stop after a day of shopping. It is close to the Crossroads Mall, Best Buy, and Target. Their coffee ice cream with peanut butter cups mixed in and hot fudge on the top is the best!!
