Some beers were misses, but we found enough beers that we really liked that this is a 4-5 star brewery. Oktoberfest, the stout, and the jalapeño beer were hits. At least one beer had some pretty off flavors but I can't remember which one. Interior was very chill and comfy read more

Such a fantastic spot. We stumbled across this brewery while hiking nearby and we're so glad to have found it. Delicious IPA, dog-friendly inside which is so rare!!, and a well done and spacious interior. We've been to hundreds of breweries and this one stands out in the top for us. read more

Stopped in for a beer when in town with a friend for Festival Ironwood. The place is big, like cavernous. Feels like a log cabin. There are various maps of the surrounding Lake Superior area. I picked up a cream ale they had tapped. It was a good beer and the staff I spoke to were chill. Good spot right in the heart of Ironwood. Support local! read more

Stopped by on our way through Ironwood. We got a flight and left with a growler of our favorite. Bartender was super nice and informative regarding their brews. Such a great spot to grab a beer, we loved the atmosphere and the big garage doors to give it that open air feel! Great brews! read more

Since I am from the UP and live and work here, this place is the best for craft beers made here in the UP. Every season has a one-time special beer promulgated for a short period. When it's gone, it's gone. Friendly staff, knowledgeable, and the owners are invested fully and present in everything they do. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. Great seating and floor games for all, including big screens tv's for the gamer or boob-tube enthusiast. To top it off, BYOF, bring your own food! read more

Great gorgeous space with games like bags, ping pong, shuffleboard, etc. good for all ages. Kids and we'll-behaved dogs welcome. Beer is good but not great. The flagship IPA and shandies are always tasty. Browns, porters and stouts are hit or miss. Fantastic service though. Beer garden. Local performers. Cool ambiance. This place is like an oasis in a land of uniform beer. A group of us are in from CT and we are used to going to places with a solid beer selection. Unfortunately in Ironwood, MI every bar basically has the same 5 beers on tap. This brewery is a breath of fresh air. The interior looks clean and modern but also has a classic lodge feel. They keep 10 beers on tap and represent all the classic styles. read more

This is a big place, neat building, the woman behind the bar was very sweet, BUT, we drove an hour to get here just to try a hot poker beer and she was not allowed to make them and she was the only one here... Disappointing. Did a flight of beers they were good. read more

Cold Iron has always been our favorite to stop in for a few brews when visiting the UP. Not so much today. We stopped in for a beer and to relax and have a nice conversation. Then walked in three adults and four children with no masks. And the bartender did not request that they leave unless they could put on a mask. These are COVID times and we are trying to visit local establishments to help them survive. With that we have an expectation of a safe environment. When you have three adults walking around without masks moving to three different tables and four kids running around patrons and sitting at four different tables, and one jumping up on the bar, you lose faith that protocol is being followed. Step it up or you may see more would be guests drinking at home. read more

As a person who has visited breweries nationwide, it's unusual to be excited about an establishment. However mediocre their beer is based on my coast to coast taste, their service is second to none! If only comparing to a midwestern IPA/hefe/ale, they're amazing! And since there was an issue with their technology, they placated me with beer, food, and an offer to absolve me of any charge. I ALWAYS pay my tab so I waited and the owners/bartenders were absolutely amazing and gracious. When I left this place, I wrote it down in my "book of memories" as a place I would visit on a regular basis. read more

We stopped here on a UP tour. The atmosphere is perfect and the beer is too. I am a newer beer drinker and after a day of hiking was looking for refreshing. I tried their lime hard seltzer and it was amazing. Not too sweet like the canned stuff. I only wish they canned/bottled or sold Howlers because a growler was just too much. My husband had the an IPA and a blonde and really enjoyed both. The popcorn was an added bonus! read more

Stopped in while house hunting in the area. Coming from a decade in MKE that saw more than 20 independent breweries launch, I like the offerings from Cold Iron and would put them up against anything from SE WI. However, it is important acknowledge as a Michigan brewery, and again, I have credentials as a WMU grad who lived proximate to thw brewery, Cold Iron has "it". read more

They sponsored the Red Bull 400 and the 1st beer was free for participants. So no way I wasn't going. Got there and the atmosphere is amazing. I could hang out all day. The beer I had was amazing (Cold Iron Ice). Was with the family so wish I could've stayed longer and tried a bunch but next time I'm in the area I'm hitting this place up as much as possible!!! read more

This is our favorite UP brewery. The staff is always friendly, the beer is delicious, and the setting is super relaxing. The brewers use lots of local ingredients to make unique and exciting beers, and they don't go short on flavor. Plus they are dog friendly which is great!! We always stop in when we're in the area! read more

There is nothing fancy or trendy about this place. To me it seemed to be a hybrid "dive-bar-up-north-tavern" with all the requisite furnishings from vinyl upholstered bar stools to Green Bay Packers posters and other "up north kitsch." But -- we came for the beer. And the beer was not bad. I had a five beer flight, while my non-driving companion tried several more of the twelve selections on tap. The flavor profile of each selection was spot on. The wheat beer was wheaty, the stout was thick, dark and chewy, the Oktoberfest evoked visions of singing "Ein Prosit" in München. My other selections were satisfactory and my companion enjoyed his as well. With the proliferation of micro-breweries nationwide it's virtually impossible to visit all of them. And it's equally difficult to stand out from the crowd (and get four or five stars from me). But I can recommend stopping here for some beer and checking one more microbrew tap room off your list.
