I came here to take a fly fishing class and observed that there is a lot for folks to do up here for seniors! Sure it's a Senior center, but really there is a great deal up here to do! Some folks have really worked their tail off to make this a fun little place! Great place to have all kinds of classes on a number of different things! I noticed a small little library, a work out area, pool tables, a hand shuffle board, tv's and visiting tables. There was a little gift shop with all kinds of fun little trinkets! What I really impressed me were that so many folks were sitting down and visiting with each other! Don't be shy, if your'e a senior, come up here and visit! What a fun place to come do things and meet others! I just hope that someday, that other senior centers around the country are as nice as this one!

A search of the web will reveal many sites discussing this form, which was developed by the Chinese government in 1956. It is also called the "Beijing Form" because that's where the glorious peoples' instructors convened to develop it. Look for several masters performing it on YouTube. You do not have to be a senior to join the class. If the class is full, seniors get first priority, that's all. The below is a quote from the Denton Senior Center's website: ---------- Date: Tuesdays Time: 4 - 5 p.m. Cost: $30 for six weeks. Related to martial arts, Tai Chi is the art of constant motion. Class content includes slow motion warm up, breathing exercises and 24 basic movements. Benefits of Tai Chi include better relaxation, balance, meditation and improved health. It is also charged annually on a sliding scale by age. The older you are, the cheaper it is. Even if you aren't a resident of the city, you can still join, but you will pay a slightly higher fee (starting at $50 for 50 year olds). There are many activities and classes that take place here. They are often taught by outside individuals or groups. Classes may include language classes, musical instruments, games such as majon or cards, It seems like the majority of them charge a fee, and they are quite expensive. However, there are a few free seminars that take place each month in one of the many classroom spaces. If you have no discretionary funds to spend, you can at least use these things for free as part of your annual membership: pool tables, city provided WiFi, computer stations, and a small gym with both weights and aerobic machines. You can also come to hangout in the A/C, read a book from their small library shelf, and chat with others. There is a kitchen and they do provide some snack items at cost. You can get chips and coffee, they usually have some premade sandwiches for purchase too. It is NOT a nice dining experience. It's not even as interesting or varied as a vending machine which would actually be better in my opinion. The kitchen comes in handy for large organized events. I recommend eating before you come because you can't count on food or drink being available other than water from the fountain and coffee in the kitchen. The facility is only a few years old. It is a bright, clean space. Flyers for events and activities can be easily found in the display holders. You can ask the front desk for a calendar of events flyer to take with you. The city will even provide you transportation to and from the facility from your home within the city limits. You have to book it the week before. It's a charge of .50 cents each way. The staff seem to be older and move at the same slow speed as the seniors that frequent the center. This is a good thing because patience is needed as people age. In the past, I have taught computer classes here for free. The staff have provided a large TV screen on wheels that I can connect my laptop to. There is also a dry erase board for writing information for all to see. I recommend bringing your own HDMI cable and arriving early to setup and make sure everything works. Technical staff are not always on hand to help if you run into an issue. When you hit 50, be sure to give yourself a membership here as a present to yourself. It's definitely cheaper than a gym membership even if the hours are limited to 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday, 8-4 Friday, 8-1 Saturday and closed Sunday.

In 2022, it will be held on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9am - 4pm. It is so fun to talk to the senior citizens about the wonderful crafts that they have lovingly made to sell. I wish I could buy one of everything! They also have a great craft shop called The Robin's Nest that sells a variety of homemade craft items year round. The Richardson Senior Center recently underwent a renovation during Covid, which was the perfect opportunity to do so. It is absolutely stunning! Gorgeous, comfortable furniture in a setting that is so beautiful to look at! They offer a wide range of services for citizens age 50 and older. Lots of activities and classes are available for a wide range of interests. I'm so proud to live in a town that values our Senior Citizens and provides a wonderful gathering place for them to enjoy!

Do not let your case worker or ANYBODY coerce you into being here!! As a youth resident of this place for 7 months, events I have witnessed and been a part of have been like no other in my 16 years of living. The environment is distressful and trauma-bearing for any child. Natasha Hayden is a habitual liar, a manipulator, and a sorrowful excuse of a CEO. This woman's mental health status desperately needs to be assessed because she is not well. Her lies are ludicrous and said without reason. Natasha once lied to staff that her husband collapsed in Miami Florida with recurring cancer. She claimed he was unable to be located, and needed to book an emergency flight to Florida that would take place the weekend she was supposed to work in the shelter as a youth advisor (because she's understaffed). The same evening this lie took place, this woman DIALED her husband's number in front of me and my sister and he answered. Natasha introduced me to him because I've made remarks in the past about her husband resembling a Tyler Perry movie actor. I even spoke to him myself! We had a brief conversation, with laughs and all. He sounded to be in perfect condition, in a non-clinical environment. I was in shock. I had to say goodbye one more time to make sure I didn't miss the IV drip. The extremity of the situation resulted in a staff member stepping up to work that weekend, but Mrs. Natasha was seen working in the front office on the same day. She never left the building on the supposed day of "her flight", and didn't hide it either! Since then, there has been no mention of her husband. To this day, we don't know if she has ever been able to locate him. Obviously, this lie was told as an excuse for her to not work in the back, but it's the extent that she went to which baffled me. Why would you wish something like that on your significant other? This was merely one of Mrs. Natasha's extravagant lies. The employee dropout rate of this facility is high. Youth advisors come in and go out by the month. During the period of my stay, I have seen 2 case managers leave along with the Financial Coordinator and Food Director. This place is severely understaffed. It is so bad that the maintenance woman works as Food Preparation, Receptionist, and Youth Advisor. Mrs. Natasha is so desperate for workers that she no longer trains them entirely. During my stay, there were random men that we kids had never seen before, hired to work. We didn't know where she got them from! One slept on our couches while on shift and ate from our pantry. Another man shadowed our case manager for 1 evening and started working with us immediately the day after. I believe there's a safety issue being violated because these people spontaneously arrive without shadowing experience as qualified workers did in the past. Most outings that we children were supposed to go on, were canceled and postponed because there weren't enough workers to take us. During my stay, Mrs. Natasha physically assaulted an 11-year-old girl and verbally abused the children I lived with. She threatened the youths with "pressing charges" over minor incidents like leaning up against a wall for too long, sneezing, and once even picking at dried wall paint. She is a complete sadist. We have tried to take up these issues with her, but she deflects the problem onto us and gaslights. She can never answer a question directly and once had the nerve to blame us, children, for the reason her staff resigns. This place is just awful. The work environment, how the children are treated, the youth's daily activities, the constant rescheduling of appointments, the threats, the use of detention center rules, the inability for kids to access any technology, and more. It is all truly awful. This is no place for a child, rather delinquents. Please save yourself the trauma and find someplace else.

The old executive director, Sharon Watson, was very sweet and kind, and treated all of the workers equally. However; upon getting the new executive director things took a turn for the worst. The workers had to start distancing themselves from the kids, which caused a lot of us to feel even more lonely than before, especially us that were going to be there for awhile. Many of the workers started quitting due to the mistreatment they were receiving, and many of the kids started acting out more. I respect the new executive director, I appreciate what she did for me, and I admire her method of working, however, I also feel as though she needed to understand things from more than just her own point of view. The youth advisors were the people who helped me to become more social and helped me to realize I have to stand up for myself. But after the new director came in I lost that influence in my life. However; many members of the staff and many of the youth advisors enhanced my experience greatly. Kathy and Jodi (two staff members from upfront) always did anything they could for the kids, though Jodi had more trouble due to the fact that she was the receptionist. The youth advisors (all of which have most likely either quit or were fired) were absolutely incredible. And my caseworker (who no longer works there) was one of the most helpful people there. Overall; my experience here wasn't the worst, but this place has a lot it mess to improve on.

I happened to stop in to the house for no real reason but to see it, because my girlfriend spoke so very highly of the place. When I walked it, it was like family that have not seen you for a very long time. So kind an so proud of their place. They could not wait to show me around an you could see the pride they have for the place, the people who are in need an stay there, an so very proud of Reba herself. An amazing young lady (high school student) started a room where they give things like wigs an scarf's an so much more to cancer patients. This right here makes me have faith in the younger people of our world. They showed me the rooms an the library oh my gosh it is just as nice as any 5 star hotel u can stay in. An so very clean. They are always willing to assist with anything they can to make your stay as comfortable as your own home. They treat you better then most of your own family members. LOL. I have truly been blessed to get to know these ladies. I know god has sent his angels to work in this place.
