Had the weirdest experience there as first time visitors and we will not be going back. It's 7…read moredollars for people older than 7, so my family paid 21 dollars. Then as soon as we got to the parking lot we realized that it was very full and it sounded like there was a DJ or something there playing Latin pop music and Cumbias. We parked in the gravel parking lot and made sure to back in because we would not have been able to pullout to leave because of how many cars were cramped in. On the way down the path we saw that it was not an actual Dj but rather a party of people sitting under the trees with the large Dj speakers that stand on the tripod poles. We walked to the farthest place on the beach to get away from the loud party. On our way across the beach there were a few other groups with radios, but they were playing them at a much more respectable level only able to be heard for 10-15 ft or so. Once we picked out our spot the sand on the beach is great and it has a really nice slope so you can swim out pretty far before it gets deep. I did make my kids keep their water shoes on the whole time because we picked up over ten pieces of broken brown and green glass. We left around 7 after a lot of people had already left. The craziest part is what happened up in the changing area. They have around 5 portapotties out in the parking lot, then down on the grass, a water cleaning area with three spigots and two changing rooms that are just stalls on wood that you can change in, but you can see peoples feet from the outside. As I was walking up a young girl maybe 10-12 walked up already in dry jean shorts and a dry shirt she walked into the changing stall but didn't have anything with her. She looked confused but closed the door. I stood there waiting in line as the other one was taken. The young girl started URINATING on the floor in the changing stall! Like I just see her feet and a stream of Pee. Insane! Her parents were no where to be seen. They obviously told her to go up and use the restroom and didn't watch her. Either she didn't know the porta-potties were the toilets, or she didn't want to use them. It's really sad that the people there were acting so inappropriately because the beach is really nice. They should have a code of conduct or something, and ranger type people that are monitoring. There are two large dumpsters for trash in the parking lot, but there was still trash all over in the parking lot. As far as staff that we saw there was only the woman in the ticket booth and one worker in a cart probably picking up trash. My husband overheard the worker say that there was 800 people that came thru that day. With people paying 7 dollars a piece for next to no amenities they really need more staff.

The views are amazing, and the hike itself was challenging but rewarding. TIP: This park is very close to Choctaw Casino! Nice campsites with lots of trails to hike and a swim beach. FYI, there is a long path with steep steps to get to the swim area. The park is well maintained, heavily wooded, which makes for a great camping atmosphere, especially at night. Noteworthy: The bathrooms were older but clean. A big bonus for me was the isolation, like an authentic camping experience, but there are many options to pick from to fit your camping style!

They have really nice nearby cabins along the peninsula where we stayed. The people running the campground were friendly and helpful. The only thing that was inconvenient was the distance to the water spigot from our rig (approx. 40ft, thankfully we had an extra hose) and there is no sewer access at individual spots. There are however a few stations within the campground to use before you leave. There were also a lot of people with young children, younger adults partying, and the occasional car going through with loud music blaring but for the most part everyone seemed to respect the quiet hours (after 10pm.) Overall, I am happy with our decision to spend a few days here and would do it again!

Make sure to pay attention when coming off US 75, the entrance is on the right. Lots of tables, both cement and wooden in shaded areas with great views of the lake. No specific parking area, just pull off the road and park next to the table you want to use. No bathroom facilities, so know that. Can also be used as a walking area, but it will be shared with vehicle traffic, so watch for that. Next to Frontier Village and Texoma Livestock Expo.

This dam holds back the water of the Red River which separates Oklahoma from Texas. It's a huge beautiful lake and in years that see plenty of rainfall,water levels are high. Spent Easter weekend here with family and had a great time! Kasita's are cute but they are a little…read moresquishy. We may just splurge next time and put our boys in their own. I loved waking up to the view of the lake every morning and it was awesome to be able to paddle board right there. I do wish there were curtains or a shade to pull down when you go to bed at night to keep the sunlight out in the morning. Four words: HIRE A FISHING GUIDE!…read more Epic day on Lake Texoma, catching plenty of Stripers! Our fishing guide, RANDY, put us on fish from the get go. He knows this lake, inside and out. We had originally called another company (that advertises obnoxiously here - couldn't escape their ads). When we called, they were all booked up for weeks. I decided to look on Google maps to find other guides nearby. So glad we did!!! "Adventure Texoma" (not to be confused with another place with a very similar name!) popped up. Mark answered the phone, had availability when we wanted to book, and said we'd be with Randy. Easy-peasy. We showed up with our $12 Lake Texoma fishing licenses (acquired in town), and Randy supplied everything thing we needed to fish! We had 6 poles in the water for the most part, and lost count of fish, but it's tied over a dozen a piece! My husband also caught a good sized catfish (our largest fish of the day)! I also caught a freshwater drum, and the largest striper of the day! We agreed to call it a draw. Decided to catch and release them all. Probably should have kept one of the bigger stripers. Nevertheless, what a fun and fulfilling day! We we comfortable, and Randy is an easy guy to talk to. Thanks for everything!
