This is an uber small community, where everybody knows everybody and can probably identify you by your smell... I wish I were kidding... Yet, the small town shop is one of the things I LOVE about it. No fluff. No kissing your butt, no following you around to see what you are looking for. Just plain ok'd thrift store shipping... While you're there you can catch up on the town gossip, who did what and who they need to be praying for! Everything is CHEAP and donated by town locals. Is there a HUGE variety? Nope. But lots of antique finds for a low cost!

Our family met some volunteers at a Petsmart adoption event in McKinney…read more We drove out to Sherman today to donate a number of supplies from our dogs that had passed. We were met by Roxanne and Martha who are also absolute angels. Tori is Martha's right hand girl and protective lol so precious. Everyone that we've met who works or volunteers for this organization has been wonderful. Of course, leave it to these angels to do God's work. Be sure to bring any donations to their adoption events in McKinney or Propser Petsmart on the second and fourth Sundays of every month.

We recently drove through Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge and did the self-guided audio tour…read moreavailable on their website. Entry to the refuge is completely free, and the tour was well-marked and easy to follow. The audio provided just the right amount of information to keep all of us -- parents and a 12-year-old -- engaged while driving. You can simply play the audio as you drive without needing to stop. The signage throughout the refuge is helpful for identifying different bird species. We didn't make it to the visitor center or explore any other areas this time, but we plan to on our next visit. If you're in the area and have a spare half-hour, we definitely recommend giving Hagerman a try!
