I called multiple times got the same about buying some coins that I have and some silver and gold they told me that they don't have the money to buy and they don't even want to look at if you want to speak to the owner he is only there sat and sun starts at 4pm when I called they told her was busy can he call you back never did called Sunday another excuse called back the next coming Tuesday and first guy told if the owner didnt call you back he not interested long story short they didn't give a crap I wouldn't recommend this place to no one ever since don the original owner passed the place is a complete joke check out other reviews and you will see what I'm talking about Im not the only one read more

Take a walk back in time at Coin Depot. This charming little shop in La Verne is like a stroll back in time. I stopped here to browse a little as I was waiting to meet a friend. Besides a wall and showcases full of coins of all types, they have a selection of antique items. From crystal sugar and creamers to gilded wall mirrors to nostalgic kitchen items and decorations. It's really fun to look around and the prices are reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised! It was not like a fancy smancy antique store - you feel like you are among friends. I brought in a lot of old coins to have them checked to see if they had any value. There were two older men who looked at the coins I brought, many of them were Canadian. They basically told me if they were from Canada they had no value in the US, which is not true. Then one of them men wanted to show me the magnet test that you can do on coins to see if they're real or fake and call me away from where the other man was looking at my coins. I started to walk away and became very uncomfortable. I felt like I was being scammed. I tried to keep my eye on the bag and then but the man who led me away, kept asking me to look at him, do a test on one of the coins. I decided I was just going to go back over to the man who had my bag of coins and decided to leave. I don't know that they took anything for me, there were a lot of coins, and I didn't count them before I went in, but you know how they always say trust your gut! And mine was saying they were trying to pull a fast one. read more

Came in with my kids to start their coin collection and overheard conversations/witnessed behavior towards employees that weren't appropriate for my kids to see. Came here to purchase some notes and was interested in purchasing 2 notes I found well priced. I was reviewing their quality but could not stop overhearing some older man flirting with a young girl that seems to work here who is clearly under age, and the older man proceeds to talk loudly about politics and how things would be much better with Trump around. i personally do not come to these stores to overhear politics so I left without purchasing anything. Not sure if the owner supports this kind of environment but i'll take my business elsewhere. This little coin shop is a wonderful place to start a collection with your kids, complete one, or just poke around and ask questions. Honestly this store seems to be going downhill after the new owner took over. I came in yesterday and was very disappointed seeing how the owner, "Tom" treats his employees. He had yelled at the young girl in front of all the customers about her being off-task momentarily. I understand wanting things done in an orderly fashion, however humiliating young employees over minor things seems very unprofessional. Other customers agreed that his actions weren't okay and not how you treat your employees. We all saw her holding back tears as she continued with working, like she was in fear of being yelled at again. Anyways, the store has reasonable prices and cool finds. You never know what you'll come across at the Depot. read more

i just recently got back from this place and sold the old man with his 3 dogs, some roman ancient emperor coins...not knowing much about the value ,he offered me $ lol...i knew they were worth much more but didn't know how much more...did not wanted to argue with man otherwise hell sic his dogs on me,so i took the money.... i got back home did my research and they were worth 14 times what he had offered me...that sucked monkey nuts!... this man is very clever when it comes to coins..he was telling me the history about roman emperor's..who were first emperor's...how many in total... emperor at the time of jesus christ...when were coins minted in what time of year...and he gave me 30 names of emperor's who authorized its minting...and blah blah blah.. muy bueno informacion read more

A great coin shop! Everyone there is extremely helpful, so knowledgeable and very welcoming! Their selection is endless, with walls and walls of coins on display for sale (don't forget to go to the way back to see all the coins). Each coin has extensive descriptions and are organized so it's easy to find what you are looking for. I found this local gem of a place so I could introduce my 6 year old to his 1st coin store. He has been very interested in coins and started his own little collection. The 2 gentlemen who helped us spent a lot of time with my son discussing coins and showing him various coins. They were patient with him; listening to him and answering his questions. My son walked out of there encouraged and with an even stronger love of coin collecting. He was so excited that he asked to go back the following day. Which we did and he picked out a few coins. Their prices are great! Even with my son's little budget he was able to pick out a good selection to add to his collection. I highly recommend this coin store and it will be my new go to place for all my coins! read more

Wonderful place to buy/sell coins. First time I've felt at home in a coin shop and didn't feel like I was at a car dealership where someone was trying to rip me off. The Bobs and Greg were so friendly and they give you the best price they can and even tell you if it's better if you hold on to something. So rare to find coin dealers like that nowadays! IT is with sad regret that the long time owner Don.H has passed away a few weeks back.I was lucky enogh to have meet him ONLY ONE WEEK BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY.He was a great man to have known and was very helpful like many people have said prior to his passing.The store is still open and they are working out the kinks on how to operate every thing smootly again. I went to Cion Depot to check some antiques with my friends today. We were treated very kindly by all of the employees there. Dennis was the one who helped me try all the antique jewelries, he gave honest ideas of his about the authenticity of the jewelries I was interested in. My first experience here was lovely. Everyone who worked here was willing to help and incredibly friendly. They had plenty of great coins and collectibles for avid collectors. They also had boxes of random coins that went for 6 coins for a dollar for the novice collector. It's a great shop and I can't wait to return to build my collection. read more

This was my first time visiting Coin Depot after seeing that it had good reviews and it was pretty close to home. I am a beginner coin collector and I have to say that it was definitely worth a visit. The staff was very knowledgeable on the of the pretty much worthless coins I brought.:) They also helped me set up a set up a bidder number for $5 lifetime. I was also shown how to manage the bid board. This is a place I would definitely visit again when I am in not such a rush. read more

Just recently sold some of my husbands coin collection here. They are the sweetest people!! Such amazing customer service. They were honest and gave me what the coins were worth and took so much time looking at each coin to make sure I got what was fair. Kindest store owner I ever did meet. Extremely knowledgeable and has a real love for what he does. I love this store and the staff that run it. I've come here twice with my baby and both times, I've been met with friendly service and very reasonable prices. It's such a charming shop, I love looking at all the coins, stamps and trinkets they have in there. Today, I made off with an adorable precious moments statue for 4 dollars. A sweet deal. Nice little spot. Very friendly, knowledgeable and patient staff. Went out of their way to answer all of my questions. Even pointed me to a few other shops when they didn't have what I was looking for (Saxon Talers). Very nice bid board. Pay a one time $5 fee start fee and you can sell or bid on the board. I think they charge a small fee for the bid cards and they take, I think a 15% fee for the sales price of the coin. Not positive about that, but I'm pretty sure that's what the guy said. They have a few other trinkets/antiques at the shop as well. Only thing I would like to have seen more of were coins for direct sale, not on the bid board. Most of their good stuff is US, but the bid board did have some medieval/ancient coins. Best thing going for this place in my opinion are the people working there. I'm glad they finally reopened it. I will definitely return. Add a bigger selection for dir3ct buy and some older world coins and it would be 10 stars. read more

I was encouraged to contact C.D. by the great reviews but my experience was poor. I will keep the details private but there is no way I would ever do business with this shop. I called with a very specific and easy question and got the most ridiculous answer I have heard in a long time. I was able to get a good answer from another coin shop without a problem.
