If you want to go to an artist who you can trust 100% and not get anxious (like me), you should go to Ash Marie. After years of avoidance, I finally went to Sugar Land Hair Bar after seeing how incredible she was with my sis. It was a calming environment, and Ash M was so very kind and the most accommodating stylist that I have EVER seen. I love her positive attitude and genuine care. She explained everything before starting so you get a chance to share your opinion. The result was AMAZINGGGGG, now I don't want to go to any other hair expert. I will definitely be driving 3hrs to get her hair magic again as I live in Austin.

Once Ash was ready she introduced herself and showed me her station where I could put my purse. I then followed her to the hair wash station. Once done with my hair wash I went back to her station where we discussed what I was wanting for this haircut. She was very friendly and listened to what I was wanting and looked at my inspo pictures. She was very communicative and was letting me know what she was doing to my hair as she was cutting it. We chatted throughout the duration of my haircut. Once done she took pictures of my hair. I paid for my haircut and that was it. I was done in about a an hour. Ash did a phenomenal job with my hair! I'm super happy and highly recommend Ash!

Therefore, I would recommend going over pricing before sitting in a chair so you're not surprised when it's time to pay for services. I really appreciate Mrs. Julia's sincerity and customer service. ------------------- I went to this salon based off of reviews and service prices listed online. The establishment was nice and clean on the inside, there were only two hairdressers working with the rest of the chairs sitting empty. The original hairdresser I had booked with had a migraine and called out, so I was rescheduled with Helen. She cut my both children's hair. Both of my girls had trims only - maybe an inch a piece on dry, clean hair. That's it. No wash, no dry, no curl or style. Just trims. Based off the pricing online, I was expecting to pay maybe $20 per child (online said kids cuts are $13 and up). They charged me $100! For two trims! When I asked the front desk receptionist about the high prices, she verified with me that they had not received any additional services that would make the price increase that much, stated that she didn't believe the website had been updated in a while & that basically the hairdresser set those prices and there was nothing she could do about it. She was sweet and kept apologizing but I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere. The prices are outrageous and it's basically a "well, that's just how it is" attitude. I expect more out of a Sugar Land business. Very disappointed.

Instead, my roots came out noticeably brighter and more orange than the rest of my hair, while the mids and ends were much deeper/redder. I did mention during the appointment that my roots were too bright, and they were toned at the bowl, but even after the adjustment, the color was still very different from what I had asked for. The stylist herself was very nice, and I had no issues with her personally, but unfortunately I was unhappy with the final result. I paid $363 for the service, and ultimately had to book another salon to have the color corrected, meaning I'm now paying additional money to fix a color I had already paid $363 for. I understand that color can sometimes turn out differently than expected, but I was really disappointed with the overall result and the fact that I left feeling like I needed another stylist to get my hair closer to the color I originally requested.

I have spent years searching for a truly exceptional hair stylist in the Houston/Katy/Richmond…read morearea--someone who doesn't just "do hair," but actually sees you, listens, and cares about delivering the result you're hoping for. After countless disappointing experiences and hundreds of dollars spent, I can confidently say: Mariah is the one I've been looking for. This was, without question, the best experience I've ever had with my hair. From the moment I sat in her chair, Mariah took the time to truly consult with me--she looked at my hair, asked thoughtful questions, and most importantly, she listened. What stood out most was the trust she built almost immediately. With her knowledge, calm confidence, and patience, I knew I was in the right hands. No one has ever spent that kind of quality time with me. For over three and a half hours, she educated me about my hair--how it behaves, what it needs, and how to care for it in a way that actually works. She explained my options clearly without ever being pushy or trying to sell me anything. She was simply there to help--and that made me trust her even more. I originally came in considering a treatment, but through her expertise, she helped me understand what my hair truly needed. I left with a hair treatment, a haircut that suits me better than anything I've had before, and a clear plan moving forward. Mariah is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and truly a gift. To have someone you trust with your hair is everything--and she earned that trust from the very beginning. If you're in Houston/Katy/Richmond and still searching for "your person," stop looking. You've found her.

I couldn't even get an appointment successfully booked. Unfortunately, the communication and…read moreoverall experience were so frustrating that I ultimately decided I wasn't comfortable booking a treatment with a business that couldn't clearly confirm the specific dates and times I was requesting. UPDATE: 8/09/2026 -- In response to the owner's comment: Your response makes it clear that you did not fully understand my original review, which unfortunately reflects the same communication issue I experienced while trying to book an appointment. I went back and forth attempting to schedule for weeks and tried to book on three separate occasions. When I finally called and someone answered, there was a significant communication barrier, and the call ultimately ended with the person hanging up on me. You're correct that I've never received a service at your salon--but that is precisely the point of my review. I repeatedly tried to become a customer and was unable to successfully book an appointment. My review is about the customer service and booking experience I personally received. If your salon is so heavily booked that you are unable to accommodate new clients, I completely understand. However, potential clients should simply be told that upfront rather than spending weeks attempting to schedule an appointment that is never confirmed. Professionalism begins before a customer ever walks through the door, and unfortunately, my experience trying to become a client was enough for me to decide to take my business elsewhere.
