I really want to like this place, because it's on campus and they make a mean tomato bisque, but the rest of the food (and coffee) is mediocre, not so reasonably priced, and the waits are ridiculous. Half the time they give my food to someone else, and when I try to tell them, all I get is an "Okay, let me check!" and then I'm waiting another ten minutes before I have to remind someone that hey, you were going to check on my food, right? Now that Starbucks is on campus, I don't even see the point of this place existing. read more

I find this place rather splendid on campus. My favorite sandwich by far is the cubano, but i am also fond of their pastas. The food is rather generous and affordable making it a great lunch pick, along with a pretty solid menu. It can get kinda crowded, but its eating on campus..what's one to expect. The service is only average though. they work really hard, and don't do anything wrong, just nothing spectacular. So far I've come here for lunch twice and enjoyed myself. It does get busy around noon, but if you go off-hours, such as 11am or 2pm you won't find a long line. The first time I had the Massive Shroom sandwich, which came with a house salad (didn't know that) and it was excellent! The second time I had a half bacon and egg sandwich and a cold mushroom and avocado sandwich, both were great as well. Each time I also had a plastic cup of the house red. Not the best wine, but a decent accent to my meals during the day. With each trip costing me $10ish I have nothing to complain about here. read more

Had a late dinner catching up with one of my high school friends that attends Harvard. It is a nice setting, clean, trendy and wifi friendly. I had a chicken panini and was not too pleased with the food. The chicken was hard and dry and the bread came out hardened. Recently started working at Stanford and when checking out the places to eat, I came across this little place, tucked away. I've had their breakfast sandwich which is to die for, and very filling, not a ton of Calories either (if you counting that sort of thing). The are actually sandwich "halves" with bread, egg, ham and bacon. Price isn't too bad, but I wouldn't say its cheap here. My favorite of all time though, is the Tomato Soup. I like almost can't get over how amazing their soup is. You can either get just a bowl of soup, you can do a cup of soup with a grilled cheese; I've done both and would recommend either. The soup is creamy and and has a small spicy kick to it, which really just makes it perfect. The wait for food (dining in or taking out) is not that long at all, and I have eaten there during finals and end of quarters, so its been pretty busy times. Like i said, price isn't amazing, but the food is very good! read more

Out of all of the food options at Tresidder Union, CoHo is arguably the healthiest one. Not only does the menu contain ample leafy choices, everything is also made freshly and on the spot. We've had the majority of the menu; almost all options are tasty (though some of the portions can be on the small side if you're a big eater). Definitely give their risotto or one of their salads a try! Or, if you feel like something a bit less (but still kinda) wholesome, give their Mediterranean plate a shot. Their panini are also fairly good and chock full of cheese, but they go great with their tomato and basil soup. Since CoHo's located at Tresidder, there's plenty of outside seating, but the inside looks cute as well; there are caricatures of famous people who have visited all over the walls. The staff is super friendly and get to know you if you become a regular. Coho also hosts artists/musicians most days of the week, so if you're feeling jazzy, hop over the right night. In all, with its reliable food and fun decorations, CoHo is easily our favorite Tresidder dining spot when we have to stay on campus! read more

This is a review just for CATERING Good food, AWFUL management. Eg. room numbers don't make it onto delivery orders (so the delivery people don't know where to go) even though you said the address in the email, you order stuff from the boxed lunch menu and everything comes on platters (and not boxes like it's supposed to) etc. Management really needs to improve its communication with staff on the ground. Lots of people hate ordering from them but you don't have a lot of option at Stanford for delivery other than Pizza, so you're kinda stuck with a few places. If you order here be prepared to leave very detailed instructions and order well in advance so that when they screw up they can contact you. read more

The CoHo could not possibly be as successful as they are if they didn't have such an awesome location. There are relatively few options for food on the Stanford campus, and the CoHo is far from the worst of these options. This said, the food really is subpar. The drinks just don't taste very good. The hot chocolate particularly is terrible--if you want a good hot chocolate on campus, go to one of the Coupas. The pasta dishes that I have had here have dreadful sauces. The whole dish ends up being soggy and kind of gross. I come here sometimes when I'm super hungry, and can never bring myself to finish a dish, just because it really is dreadful food. The sandwiches are okay, I guess, but calling them good would be something of a stretch. The exception to the mediocre food is the pastries, which are excellent. They're fluffy and freshly made by the CoHo. The CoHo hosts a lot of great events (like slam poetry and jazz music), many of which are definitely worth coming to if you're not busy one night. But I wouldn't get any of the food when you're here. It's just not worth the price. read more

The prices here have risen over the years, and the food is ok. I usually like their salads, but on occasion I've gotten sad proportions where the amount of arugula in the salad far outweighs any of the toppings, leaving a bitter mess. I tried their dixie sandwich recently, where some portions of the sandwich had way too much sauce and some had none at all. Their side salads for their sandwiches are boring enough to make me avoid ordering sandwiches. Most of their food is simple and a lot of it is simple enough to make at home if we weren't lazy college students. The one thing that has stayed pretty reliable in quality is their Mediterranean platter. read more

As campus cafes go, this is my first choice. As campus restaurants go, this is my last choice. The cafe- daily baked pastries are very good. so is the coffee, most of the time. I worked at Starbucks for a summer, so I'm a little extra critical of lattes. If you are too, just realize that they aren't going to steam you milk perfectly, and may even burn it. However, it'll do when you can't get off campus. The restaurant- the food is blahhhh. The paninis are always super greasy. Then they put a little half-ass salad next to them to make them look fancy. I wish this place had bagels and lunch deals where you could at least get a cheap meal, if not a quality one. read more

Chef Rocío has been in the culinary arts field for a number of years now and has become a great chef because of her love of food. I was her student a decade ago at one of the best culinary schools in Mexico City for 1 and 1/2 years. She is very passionate when it comes to food and has much knowledge about many different cuisines especially Mexican. I have personally tried Rocío's cooking at CoHo Cafe and it was wonderful, healthy and enjoyable. She loves to use the freshest ingredients possible so that you can experience the true flavor of the food that she is preparing. Personally I being a Chef de Cuisine have learned a lot from the experience of working with Chef Rocío. I have applied some of the things I have learned from her in my own life and the results were wonderful. I would highly recommend CoHo and Chef Rocio's catering for any that wish to have not just a great meal but also a fun and pleasurable experience with food. read more

As far as cozy coffeehouse vibes, this place is a total 5-star. Squishy-looking chairs and lots of tables and a cutesy chalkboard menu: all the tokens of a hip coffeeshop that we've come to expect. The coffee here is not great, but not bad or acidic. I would much rather have coffee here than at Starbucks, but I would much rather have coffee at Coupa than here. Their specialty drinks are pretty decent, but err on the sweet side. I've only tried one of their meals before, and I did the thing where you panic because the line moves way faster than you expect and the chalkboard menu, while adorable, is super hard to read and you have a gluten allergy so you just order the special because it's printed on real paper and tacked to the counter with the magic GF symbol. It was polenta, with no trace of any spices or flavor...served on a bed of CORN and black beans. I could have qualified for a corn subsidy from the US government after that meal and it was the opposite of satisfying. The staff here, however, is awesome and cheery, even when I burst through the door freezing and soggy at 7:30 in the morning. read more

I love CoHo!!! If not for the scrumptious coffees and lattes with adorable foam designs on the top (I once saw a dragon on top! :D), I love it for the squishy comfy couches that make this place unique. It is perfect for students--you can totally camp out there with a drink or pastry (their pastries are pretty good too) and just read or write. They have a piano that I believe you can play on whenever you want, and sometimes they have informal concerts there. They have poems written by customers pasted on the walls. They have a TV but the place is so big and angled that you can easily find a more secluded spot. They have an awesome little elephant pedestal that you can sit on or put your books on. Their selection for food and drinks is really wide, and you can get any of the usual coffee drinks, teas, or hot chocolates (my friend who knows says their Mexican hot chocolate is pretty good), or Naked juices or flavored waters, along with a variety of salads or breakfast pastries or a bagel, sandwiches, etc. The times that I've had their normal lunch food, it has been fine. Not the best ever, but it's acceptable. Drinks and pastries seem to be their specialty. I could spend hours on end here, just doing something with books or my laptop, occasionally glancing up to see students bustling in and ordering awesome coffees. I definitely recommend CoHo to both Stanford students and travelers alike. read more

First of all I love this place! Such great food and friendly staff! Environment is welcoming and I would definitely be coming back again!

They had a vegan menu and a sign on the board under paninis that said most of their dishes could be made vegan upon request. However, the vegan menu had tzatziki (which she said was cream-based) and honey listed on the menu, which were a big no-nos and are not vegan!! About making paninis vegan, they said they couldn't do it because none of their breads were vegan. I really hope the Mediterranean plate (I asked them to skip the tzatziki and took my chances with pita bread) I got was vegan (since it was listed on their "vegan" menu). I also got Naked Kale Blazer, so I was definitely happy with the packaged juice and knew for sure that was vegan. But yes, the place needs to get their vegan menu thing sorted out and make sure all their employees know about vegan options, especially if they're going to advertise a vegan menu. read more

Food was ok but service was horrible. There was no ice in the beverage dispenser nor did they ever fill it during the time I was there. If you wanted ice for your drink, you had to try to get the attention of one of the employees behind the counter. I also waited forever for my food to go. When I finally inquired about it, the pointed me to some food that had been sitting on plates in the pick up area for almost 10 minutes. Never once did I hear my number called (and I was sitting right in the area). When I informed them that my food was suppose to be to go, the lady behind the counter literally threw 2 containers at me implying do it yourself. Plenty of other places to grab a sandwich. I would recommend going to one of them instead (unless you like bad service). read more

Paninis are incredibly greasy and salads have so much oily dressing! I wanted to order a salad with the dressing on the side and they told me it can't be done: whaaaat? THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING. My son and I went to CoHo expecting a good quality lunch but what we got was just crap on a plate. The food was old and microwaved. Everything was dry and rubbery. One bite and we exchanged it for sandwiches. One of the sandwiches, a BLT, had burnt bacon. Basically the person making the food doesn't care about making a decent food product. Man, I wish I had a place like this when I was in college! A large menu (including lots of healthy and vegetarian options) so you don't get tired of eating the same meals, surprisingly reasonable prices, beer & wine, and extended hours. If you are looking for something a little healthy, the Coho is a better lunch option than neighboring Treehouse. Their kale mojito sounds hipster and obnoxious, but it is the most delicious green juice (no booze, despite the name). I usually get a greek salad, which is super yummy with a generous portion of veggies, feta, and olives. The sandwiches and panini are hit or miss, the side salads are usually over dressed. Avoid during lunch rush unless you can take your time, because the wait is often really long to get your food. Or, you can order ahead. I'm generally happy with my lunch, and whenever they cater a meeting I'm in, I'm satisfied. read more

Oh CoHo, I want to like you so badly. The CoHo's atmosphere is different from other campus eateries--it feels more organic (this also means it's more grungy) and less Stanford Bubble-ish. That's what keeps bringing me back. But as far as food goes, it's mostly unhealthy and un-vegan-friendly. Given, the salads are creative. But the pastas and risotto come out of a bag that is microwaved and then plated or boxed (read: chemicals leaching into your food), though taste-wise they're not bad. I'll forgive the time I got the vegetarian pasta and the vegetables had been sitting in the fridge a little TOO long. The wraps and sandwiches in my experience are pretty greasy. If you're vegan, your best bet is the salad with avocado and mango. Yummy! Not too many options beyond that (the veggie pasta sauce has cream), plus the cafe's not on the Cardinal Dollar plan. read more

Coho is our go-to place for library study breaks. The food is very good, and the service is fast. For caffeine, we defer to the coffee and espresso, which are both strong. If we need a meal, we usually munch on these favorites (note that we are vegetarians): La Francoise salad Caesar salad Sweet prince salad Caprese panini Tomato bisque soup! We also really like the pastries, especially the red velvet cupcakes (when they are available)! However, we also enjoy the cream cheese croissant and chocolate croissants, which go well with a cup of coffee. The bagel sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches are also good. Anecdote: Once, the Sunday before an exam, we walked into CoHo as usual. We happened to run into the owner, Ray. He is a very sweet and friendly man, and he bought us a meal. Considering that this was the day before a big exam, it was very much appreciated. We'll definitely keep going to CoHo regularly! Incidentally, Ray has some (as in, more than 4) very cute dogs.
