It's ok.. communication is pretty bad. Trying to schedule a make up takes days for them to respond. No one ever picks up the phone. One time we showed up doors locked no one told us anything and turns out the instructor was sick and didnt show. My son's instructors were all nice but they didn't seem to make an effort with him. It felt just like a lot of walking back n forth in the pool. We did private lessons which were 25 mins long. Sometimes they would start late because they had another student so my son only got 20 mins. The restrooms aren't very clean. I preferred to change my son in the car. Don't waste your time or money at this swim school. I came despite seeing negative reviews and wish I had listened. The staff and instructors often seemed disengaged -- chatting, on their phones, and rarely offering a warm welcome or encouragement. It consistently felt unprofessional and uninviting. We worked with Coach Robert, and communication was very poor. One day we arrived and were told he was "not available," yet he was clearly present at the facility. When I asked why my son couldn't continue with him, he ignored us and went on break to eat nearby where we could see him. My three-year-old son didn't understand what was happening -- he only wanted to say hi to his coach and was completely ignored, which made him cry. We also raised concerns about instructors and lesson times being switched without notice. Each time, the only explanation we received was that they had "just been told," which showed a lack of organization and accountability. Billing was another frustration. They charge a $100 annual membership fee and continue billing every four weeks, even during holidays with no classes. Make-up lessons are hard to arrange, and there is no clear system for rescheduling. Overall, we did not feel valued, and the environment did not feel supportive for young learners. Yikes! Haven't even had my 1st lesson and the customer experience was poor. I have worked in the swim school industry for 10 years- being a manager for some time and I would never treat a customer this way. Got a text saying I missed there call- no call. Got my lesson scheduled over text- cool. Fast forward to the day of the lesson, I received a text (Not a call, a text) 55 minutes prior to the lesson that it was canceled due to the weather. It's raining- pool is indoors. Asked for a manager and the person I was texting called. Doubt she was a manager and if she was, then poor decision on the owner. Emme is very rude and sarcastic. My daughter was suppose to go with Emme but apparently, half her kids canceled so she wanted to just cancel the whole schedule. Who does that? When running a business and you have a schedule- 1 client of 10 clients, you should still be attending to that client. If you have a busy schedule like me and can't really do make up tokens on another day, you just lost that lesson. Will not be trying this place out! 0 stars for me! read more

Extremely disheartening and frustrating that this company advertises as a "special needs" friendly facility. We have two on the spectrum--one is more moderate versus the other. "Special needs" swim instructors here at this location are inadequately trained to classify as a special needs swim instructor. My husband has asked me not to come during their swim sessions to avoid getting upset. Our oldest daughter (not on the spectrum) had informed to me that even she was getting frustrated with how their "SN" instructor(s) were speaking to her siblings. Mind you, my husband and I have FIVE kids enrolled in this place--two are special needs... and all are supposedly with private sessions. Despite my husband's efforts to keep mama bear away, I went... I saw... I was beyond frustrated at what I had witnessed. There are two pools at this location--side by side. The steps to go inside the pool are in the back end. There are multiple long bench in between the two pools and along the left and right side of the walls. The back end of the facility has an exit door, two bathrooms, and a small area where the swim instructors sit. Neither pools have any lane guards. Their so-called special needs instructors are usually busy looking around at the entrance of the facility, glancing at the clock, talking to other parents, talking to other instructors. Their facial expressions look like they're annoyed, frustrated for having to repeat instructions, and one in particular stays at least 8-10ft away from my other special needs child. My second SN child is more moderate, limited/nonverbal speech, echolalia, hearing deficits--her instructor lets her do the backstroke practically unsupervised and yells at my daughter to "TURN!" "TURN" "TURN!!!!" right when she is 1-2 ft away from the pool wall. Yes, my daughter has bumped her head on the pool wall multiple times because of the severe lack of INSTRUCTING. Then, she speaks to my SN child as if she's frustrated bc my child didn't turn! 1. We pay for private lessons--there is no reason for any instructor to be so preoccupied looking at other things or people in the facility and not paying attention to our child. 2. SPECIAL NEEDS PRIVATE LESSON. Why is my child doing backstrokes by herself while the instructor is at-minimum 10 ft away from my kid? UNSAFE AND IRRESPONSIBLE. 3. My child has hearing deficits--doing a backstroke... while the instructor is yelling "TURN" 10ft away... and my child is almost a foot away from hitting her head. 4. RARELY do they ever provide any verbal positive reinforcement. The tone of voice from some of the instructors are rude and unfriendly, in general. I'm not done unfortunately--while the two instructors left my two kids in the pool to speak with that other parent. My two kids collided--my child doing the backstroke hit my other child on the face/head. My other child that got hurt is special needs--requires UNDIVIDED redirection and multiple instructions repeated bc of his hearing... which is why we paid for PRIVATE sessions. There are NO lane guards at either pools. When there are multiple sessions going on, instructors are constantly yelling at students to "watch your surroundings" or "stay in your lane"... what lane? How in the world does anyone expect to believe this place has qualified "SN" instructors? It is offensive and rude to advertise this to special needs families and experience this kind of nonsense. I have been a mom for my special needs children for over 13+ years... experienced amazing and horrendous "SN" instructors. I am GLAD that I did not listen to my husband and went to witness this nonsense for myself. He told me to stay away bc he knew I'd be upset. Safe to say that we will not waste another dollar at this place nor any other location associated with Cogua. We have/had five kids (two are SN) and all were private lessons. Moreover, SN families are willing to pay for sessions, if able. I cannot speak for other SN FAMILIES but what I look for is quality, safety, rapport, and the communication standards from every place we go. The quality of the sessions and their so-called SN instructor at this location is a monumental disappointment and should NEVER advertise as a special needs-friendly/qualified swim lessons. I cannot fathom how unsafe some of their practices are here. They are not listed as an approved vendor for Regional Center in case some other SN parents are wondering. Positive comments? There is one male instructor here that teaches our oldest child... he is wonderful. Ask for him if you bring your kids here. Another instructor--unfortunately I don't know her name (yet)... but she has dark brown hair, (I think) Caucasian... she teaches our twins. She is great as well--she really pushes our twins, stays beside them, and never lets them off the hook if my twins are slacking or seems like they're giving up. What the hell! I'm trying to give you guys the benefit of the doubt because I've been with you so long, but at some point you need to improve customer relations. I come in for a make up and I come to find out the instructor didn't know I was coming. I don't get it! You guys offered me the make up and for me and my special needs son to come in and not have an instructor assigned is unacceptable. I have a very bad experience with this swimming school. They are using the text system and it has been really bad. They never answer call. Only when you sign up the first time, then they will call you. After that, dont expect a call from them. So I scheduled a make up lesson thru the TEXT for my son, came there and they said they dont have my son name in the list. After 10-15'min then they let my son swim. So my son has missed 1/2 of the time. Then they said sorry and schedule my son another make up. The person who texted with me was Veronica who schedule the make up. Then my son came again, and they said they dont have my son in the list. The teacher named JASON let my son just sit on the stairs of the pool without teaching him saying that its too many kids. Then i texted them again, telling them what happened. And they asked me to call. But i called so many times and they didnt pick up the phone. Then asked me to text. I got tired and i just stop the lessons. Its a SCAM. Teachers are not all good. Many new teachers and they are all dont teach well too. took my 14mo today and first off all the staff are very nice and welcoming. my son had just woke up from a nap and was a little cranky that we were throwing him in the pool. But the Instructor Robert was very gentle and patient and spoke to my baby in a soft tone. I was invited in to the pool to make my son more comfortable and they explained fo make his experience more enjoyable and it didn't feel forced like a come get your crying son way. He did warm up after a bit and Robert was very commutative and detailed in the lessons and gave great tips. The water was warm and clean. Front desk was very informative and answered all my questions and even still checked us in after calling we'd be late. The place does need a little TLC but you're not swimming on the walls so get over that. the reviews are a little harsh and you need to go with your own open mind and remember people expect a lot from the simplest things. This place is honestly AMAZING! From their front desk to their coaches. They do a free first session and that helps so much my kids fell in love with it all the environment the coach the whole vibe is amazing. My babies ages 7,5 and 4 have shown so much improvement in just 3 sessions. My 7 year old who is a floatie child graduated to the next level in this last session and can now basically swim and survive in the water it's so amazing to watch! We have coach Robert and my kids who are very reluctant with new people LOVE him. He's great comforting and supportive and they follow his directions so well! The negative reviews are true. I'm sure the trainers are amazing but management was terrible. The owner called me and canceled our trial session 2 hours prior. I had rearrange my personal schedule weeks prior to have my daughter attend this session. The reason why she canceled is because she didn't want to give us the private session we were already scheduled for. Instead she wanted to put us in a group session the following week. I told her I was interested in private lessons and she still refused to see us. She was very unapologetic, insincere and unsympathetic towards the last minute cancellation. She said there was "nothing she can do" yet she's the owner. Also prices advertised on their website are not up to date. For example, Parent and me (1x a week, 25mins) on their site says $69 a month but she informed me over the phone that it's now $100. Group sessions also have a max of 8 students. I'm so glad her poor customer service led me elsewhere. Thank goodness! I enrolled my daughter at a location that actually answers their phone (doesn't go straight to recording like this location), group sessions have a max of 4 students, sessions are 45 minutes long, trainers are fully vaccinated and they don't have an annual fee. read more

They state upon enrollment that they will provide you with a monthly statement for regional center reimbursement after auto charging your credit card each month. The truth is they will not. I have sent emails requesting invoices that go unanswered. Desk staff state they will make sure I will receive an invoice with zero follow through. Owners who have told employees not to give out their names or information on how to get ahold of them. $250 for four 25 minute swim classes is alot of money to not be given a invoice. We have been with them since they opened and it has drastically improved. The systematically teach all ages and the quality of the instructors is excellent. They maintain the standard through some sort of great quality control, despite having the instructors change once in a while but it's because they give the community youth a chance you give back their skills. It hasn't affected the outcome. I was on my high school swim team and we won state in 2001 and I was a lifeguard. I can see this is not only a place to learn early water safety effectively but also for learning competitive swimming. It is clean , effective and does the job well and consistently. I will start off by saying that my 4-year-old son did learn to swim and learned a few different strokes in about 3 months. So for that we are grateful! However, there were quite a few issues and things I noticed along the way which I will note here: -It is very difficult to reschedule lessons if you can't make it for whatever reason. The staff managing the text line often take a while to respond or don't respond at all. The schedule for instructors is only set 1 week in advance which is annoying when you're trying to coordinate your own schedule. In addition, you can't reschedule lessons in-person and the staff insists you text the line even if no one has responded. -When I set up my free trial lesson, I got 3 confirmation texts with the wrong dates and times for the lesson. -I had to follow-up when trying to discontinue our membership via email which again highlights the poor communication at Cogua. -The lessons are super expensive for 1-1, 2x per week, 25 minutes a session and sometimes it felt like we weren't getting our money's worth. For $350 a month, I would expect the instructor to be locked into my child at all times. For the most part they were, however there is a younger male instructor who I saw a couple times during my son's lessons distracting the female instructor for my child with conversation which was annoying. He also had his swim fins on and was doing laps in the same pool as my kid and making huge waves. Seems pretty unprofessional. -This establishment is pretty unprofessional in general. They never greet you when you walk in, or say goodbye, the "front desk is closed" sign is up when there are often multiple staff behind the desk on their phones, and new instructors mostly don't introduce themselves when they approach you for the first time. I had to facilitate every conversation with a new instructor for my son and just model basic social skills when meeting someone for the first time. It was odd.  -I have never seen someone over 25 years old in the facility which isn't a bad thing except that the lack of oversight from a manager or older person can lead to sloppy behaviors. From not greeting clients to being immersed in their phones to just having an attitude of being annoyed if you ask a question it was definitely a weird vibe. A friendly greeting and a smile go a long way. -The facility itself is OK, but at times the water looks dirty and the bathrooms are dirty too. -The instructors often call the student 1 or 2 minutes late after their start time and by the time they're in the water you've lost priceless time. For $350 a month, they should be calling your kid 1-2 mins before start time so you can get your money's worth and make sure your child is in the water ready to swim at start time. We would often arrive early and our instructor would be on their phone hanging out before the lesson and then still call my child over late to start. Very annoying! -I think there should be a 5 minute grace period for if you're late. If you arrive late at all that is time lost which feels a bit harsh. The 5 minutes should be tacked on to your session and if you're later than that then it's on you. Especially at the price point it's very frustrating that there's no grace period. -A lot of the instructors don't give much feedback during the lesson and are mostly quiet (Coah Jada). Some coaches never say what I can continue to work on with my son either. Coach Robert is amazing at giving feedback and engaging my son. I always appreciate that he tells me what we can continue to work on with my son. -If there is a fill in coach, they shoukd ask to see the progress book which logs what skills my son is working on. They often wouldn't so I would have to prompt them to take a look. Same goes at the end of a session, the coach should always be marking off the skills, but I had to make a point to have them fill it out. I would not return to Cogua again! read more

The instructors made my son feel safe and the water was warm which made learning that much easier. In a matter of about one month my son was excited and begging for more swim lessons. I am very disappointed with how Cogua manages their business. I wish they took better care of their clients. The proof is in these screenshots. I've even gone in person and have been referred to email them and text them. I contacted them early July through email to schedule my daughter back into her swim lessons, have gone multiple times in person to speak to a manager, and they are still taking their sweet time. At this point I just want my money back. It seems like that's the least they can do for such terrible management. I was pretty understanding in one of my emails that we are in the middle of a pandemic and everything is hectic; however they are accepting and scheduling new swimmers before taking care of people who are already clients. How can they add more to their load if they cannot handle the clients they already have? Money hungry? This has been the most disappointing experience. I had been trying to avoid writing a review but I've had enough. They just recently responded to my email, and I responded back but got a machine to reply to wait 2-3 days. Why can't they just call me? They have my information on file. I've done the most to give this business a chance. I even tried calling today a few times and was sent to voicemail about 5 times. First I'd like to say the individual lessons and group lessons were very unorganized and unprofessional. My oldest son is a life guard and he would of been a better person to do the lessons in our own pool. Seems like they just hire a bunch of kids to run the place. This place is a scam. I purchased lessons but my son couldn't swim for medical reasons. I sent an email as contract stated and no answer until I sent another email in which they said they will take him off the list. Once the instructor changes without notice, lesson is cancelled for no reason except poor scheduling and lack of professionalism, once they approach you about charging the wrong amount for their Hot Deal because now they aren't making a profit (isn't that called bait and switch?) ONCE all those things happen, which I guarantee you it will, they will change their reviews to 1 Star. And try calling. There is never an answer. You can only communicate via email which is fine if you get an actual response from a human being rather than the auto reply of YOUR EMAIL HAS BEEN received. Do not be deceived by whatever promotion they are offering. I already filed my BBB complaint and am waiting a response. They will bully you into paying a $75 registration fee that was never agreed upon.. Pros: Socializing Cons: pricing is ok, lack of attention for each child, they do not keep track of the progress your child makes after each lesson and they switch instructors every time. Pool water is nasty.You'd think with having babies as young as 4 months old they would be on top of their game on maintenance of the pools. Customer service is terrible, rescheduling a class is a pain and i'm in the process of cancelling and still waiting on the confirmation of cancellation. Haven't heard nothing yet. Edit: Last time i went they almost drown my 10month old. I still have a whole month to pay yet i will not be taking my daughter to an unprofessional and unsafe business. I used to be a bodyboard instructer for kids with Autism, Still, it doesn't take certifications or water safety courses to know how bad this place is. It is absolutely trash. I can tell that they seem short staffed at times. However, I can not say enough about Stephen the instructor! He did such a great job with my boys ages 4 and 6. One was eager to learn the other gave plenty of push back at the start. Stephen has away of making it fun, but still making sure they stay on task. His coaching and instructing skills are the best! Don't do the same mistake that I did people!! Do your research this place is horrible and on the second swimming lesson my son was terrified to get in the water (he is 4 yrs old).
