I have never had a meal here, so I cannot honestly comment on that, though their menu looks intriguing and offers sandwiches, soups, salads and a few more substantial entrees. I go for coffee and one of their baked goods. My wife loves their scones, and this is one of the few places in the RGV that even knows what they are. Their coffee is better to me than Starbucks though usually still a medium to dark roast. Hot tea (made with tea bags rather than looseleaf) is limited to just a few options, mostly infusions. There are limited seating areas but nice. Parking can be tight, especially if you have a larger vehicle. The service has always been good. read more

1st time placed an online order a few days ago, was told to wait for it to come out, and it was, the order, sitting already there for another 20 min, waitress didn't mind to check. Today place an call in mobile order, the only guy behind the counter took my order. When I arrived 15 min later, he ask me for my order, told him I called it in. He ask me what it was and began placing the order on the register. He said he was the one that answered the call but didn't input the order, so I would have to wait another 20 min. The food is usually really good. I took a teacher friend for the first time and was very disappointed. We ordered the special of the day. It looked delicious but to our surprise it was cold. It took a while to be noticed. The server told me to sit anywhere and left. It took 10 minutes for a server to come by. It was almost empty. Some already had plates. I ordered 2 eggs on toast. Around 30 mins passed by and nothing. I arrived at 9:05 and at 9:47 no food. I canceled my order because I didn't want eggs for lunch. Everyone had finished their meals as I was leaving so I don't know how 2 eggs would take that long. Maybe they were waiting for the chicken to lay the eggs. My partner and I came to Coffee Zone with our own bottle of champagne. We waited for 10 minutes before a waiter even came to greet us. We waited another 15 for glasses for our champagne glasses. We LOVE CoffeeZone and come for lunch at least once per week. We came in at 1:20 today waited about 5 min for a table. No big deal. It's now 2pm and we've ordered our tea and soups TWICE and still have nothing! Needless to say we are going somewhere else for lunch. I've never experienced this here, it's really disappointing and a huge waste of our lunch hour. The waitress apologized the first time we ordered and blamed the large table in the smaller room (although this is normal for coffeezone). She took our order AGAIN and never returned. This isn't really your typical coffee shop. It's more of a restaurant that also serves coffee and desserts. They have delicious soups, very fresh salads and an impressive selection of desserts that changes daily. Top that off with great customer service and a pleasant atmosphere. I'll definitely be back. They can't handle simple orders. I went to have lunch in a party of 4. Mine was the simplest order of the group, a salad. Everyone else was served, while I still had to wait longer for a SALAD. Then, it wasn't even the salad I ordered from the menu. And when I compliant to the manger about it, her question was 'did I eat it even though it wasn't what I ordered'. Really?!? No I DIDN'T eat what I DIDN'T order. And all she said she could do was say sorry and not charge me for it. Wasted my time and went without lunch. I would have given this place a 5 star but I was so disappointed with the food portions. Do not come hungry and if you do be prepared to pay a pretty penny by the time you are full. Not only is their parking lot extremely small and always busy, but inside there's never any seating. I just don't understand how they don't accommodate more people. I have always passed by this place, but never tried it until this Saturday morning. While walking into this establishment, I was surprised to know that they served actual food with a sit down area. I always believed they offered coffee wIth baked goods like a traditional Starbucks. The area is nice and quaint with dim lighting. I ordered a small iced mocha for $3.79, the size seemed like a medium. It wasn't that bad after a few swirls. The coffee was paired with a Meaty Omelet- "Made to Order". It took a while for the order to arrive. I never had such bland eggs and hash browns in my life. I had to make sure every inch of my plate had some salt and pepper. At least the eggs tasted somewhat fresh. The waitress was nice and pleasant while serving the food and drinks, too. About $25 for two. This place is one of the primary reasons I miss South Texas. It's a nicely decorated, very laid back coffee shop that opened up shortly after I graduated from college. They're kind of out of the way from UTPA, but they have a nice variety of coffees, teas and desserts. It's almost as though the waitstaff thinks they are doing you a favor by serving you. I have eaten there a few times over the past few years, and the menu never changes, neither does the atmosphere. This hidden establishment serves great drinks and savory pastries. This place is my personal local favorite place to get my cold Caffeinated fix. The Oreo Crush is my favorite drink when I'm not watching my caloric intake. Their take on the Oreo blended drink holds a better flavor to my personal pallet compare to their local competitors. My college student daughter and I visited Coffee Zone for breakfast. It was my first visit to this place. Really enjoyed the food (we had a Mexican breakfast plate, which was super yummy). And the coffee was wonderful. She had a Chai tea, and enjoyed it very much as well. Although not a typical more funky "coffee shoppe" atmosphere, I really liked it. It was appealing to the eye and senses. And, I liked the fact that it had more real food options than most straight up coffee places often offer. Especially since we wanted both food and coffee. My wife and I went in for my birthday lunch. The hostess told us to sit where ever we would like. The restaurant was fairly empty and my wife doesn't like to sit at tables in the middle of the restaurant, so we chose a booth. The hostess left and came back with menus and informed us that we would have to move tables because only a party of 4 would be allowed the booths. Didn't she just say we could sit where ever we wanted? I asked if they had other booths we could sit in and was told no. In a bit of shock we sat down at a table (which also sat 4 people) and looked over and saw a guy sitting by himself in a booth on his laptop and drinking water. At this point it was clear that we weren't going to enjoy our lunch after being humiliated and forced to move tables. My wife and I got up and left. On the way out, we pointed out the solo water drinker to the manager and advised them they needed to enforce their unstated, unwritten and unposted seating policy equally. I have honestly never been humiliated and embarrassed in my life. And the staff really seemed not to care.
